Ships - and where to get them

prierinprierin Member Posts: 7 Arc User
I am a Rom Tactical and looking for a newer, better ship then the standard Ha'Feh warbird... it's just so.... ugly! I feel like a frieghter captain...

I don't mind paying creds or Dilithium... even if it means mining the hell out of it for a while (can usually get about 10k from dailies and events anyway) but WON'T buy Zen. Not that I have anything against those who do, I just refuse to pay real $ for any F2P game...

That said, what do y'all suggest shipwise? I want something attractive with a decent hull... I can boost turn rate, etc, so not worried about that... something that doesn't make my want to find a way to put a trucker hat on my Rom and go CBing...

You could try the Exchange if you're short on DL and/or Zen. The Mirror Dehlan and Mirror Mogai might be more your style.

Well I would recommend one of the mirror ships, but the going price on a mirror Mogai is pretty high atm.

Also consider trading dilithium on the open exchange for zen, as this will cost you nothing but time grinding dilithium, and not actual RL money out of your own pocket.

You can also purchase a fleet ship, provided you have all of the necessary items to get one.

Look for reward packs. Or Requisitions as they are often called. Or just by looking for one word of the ship's name with the Search.

Shipwise, I like the Tal'Shiar Adapted Battlecruiser. I got it from the Exchange. It is just so purty. :D

The T'Varo is nifty with its perma-fire-while-cloaked ability. Makes for a nice sneaky, sneaky torp boat.

This will better explain how the system works.

But don't let the seller's tab confuse you, as the amount of zen listed there, is how much the player base offering to buy zen can purchase as a combined group, and not how much actual zen id available for sale.

As for the buy zen tab, it will show the top 5 listed offers, of people selling zen are asking for it.

Ooooh. That exchange. *nod-nod* I thought he meant trying to find shippies on the regular exchange. I should probably read the posts I respond to. Buuuut.... Effort: Too Much Of It.

Mirror ships have proven to be cost-effective, and decent ships. I use them exclusively while leveling.

There is also the summer event coming up in about 6 weeks or so and that rewards free 10-console ships if you put in some grind time. Neither ship is at all faction appropriate, but the Risian Corvette has a pretty good boff layout and is a DAMN fast little escort, and while we don't yet know the stats for the Risian Liner, the grind-event ships have always had pretty good layouts thus far.

My Rom tac owns all in her vet ship - not sure what's second best when you go the cheap route.

Hmmm.... I would be far less reluctant to buy zen if I could pick up a pre-paid card at the store... does anyone know if Perfect World or Cryptic offter cards?

Certain stores do carry them, but I never buy them myself, as I prefer purchasing thru their online banking with disposable refillable debit cards.

Walmart and Target both carry PWE cards and they work just fine, I have used several.... and as stated above you can always get a pre-paid debit card for your online purchases.

Sorry to sort of derail the thread, but due to the unique logic of the forum administrators I can't start a threat to ask a question:

How on earth do you defend the USS Warwick in Ghost Ship? Every time I get the Hirogen Apex battleship to half health 3 more battleships and a seeker spawn right next to it and proceed to hand me my marching orders.

Evidently you have not seen my unique Ha'feh ship. It's quite vicious looking...http://starfleetops.com/ and that's the 1000-day Veteran version.

How did I get it? I bought the Legacy Game Pack and it's at: http://games.arcgames.com/en/prod/star-trek-online/game-pack/detail/270-legacy-of-romulus-legacy-pack

I don't use it much now since the Dyson Science Destroyer, Romulan 3-pack was released. I pretty much use my destroyer now, or pull the Scimitar variants out for a run or two.

While your at buying ships, you want to pick up that tailgunner on the Fed side. It's bad to the bone.

I have the scimitar in my bank. never fly it. was giving up hope for a ship i liked to fly for my rommie, until I picked up a mirror Mogai. it's tough turns well and does well enough to be useful in undine battlezone

I had a hard time with this the first time around, too. You can try to dray the smaller ships away, out of range from the Apex, then go back or just concetrate everything you have on the Apex itself... either way, prepare for a fight. If you are still having issues, check your power settings (change to shields or balanced), bulk up your armor and get better shields... other than that, I don't know.

As for the Zen Coin cards.... anyone know who sells them in Australia?

Fed tailginner, eh? I'll check that out...
