You can buy the Stock ships with pure dil from the ship-vendors at any shipyard, and you can turn Dil into Zen, so that you can pick up a ship from the Cryptic-Store in-game.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

People generally buy the mirror version of a ship rather than spend 120k dil, EC is easier to come by and dil buys zen which buys the better ships and fleet ship modules.

Yup... Look under "Reward Packs" Keyword "mirror"... Mind you, these are still "just" the 9 console variants.

Yes, on the Exchange, search Category Reward Packs with the term Mirror to see them all. Narrow it down with more specific terms, if you like.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

True but the ones from the shipyard for dilithium are also 'just' 9-console ships.

Yes, Mirror Universe (MU for short) starships can be purchased from the Exchange. The main difference are the Bridge Officer station compared to the "prime universe" starships. Otherwise, the specs are the same.

Click the following link for all the playable ships by faction and level.

    http://sto.gamepedia.com/Playable_starship

For my Fed toon I have purchased the MU Assault Cruiser (basically equal to the free T5 Sovereign class heavy cruiser that you can choose). I paid about 900k ECs for it, but I saw it yesterday for 600k EC. :(

I also bought the MU Heavy Cruiser (similar to the Stargazer which has 4 engine nacelles), however I accidentally sold it because I forgot that was the last one in my inventory. I made a pretty good profit selling it, but I would have preferred to keep it. :(:(

For my KDF toon I purchased a MU Qin Heavy Raptor for around 700k ECs and a MU Vor'cha (do a search on "battlecruiser"; one word) for about 800K ECs.

I did not find any MU starships listed on the Exchange for my Romulan toon.

To find the romulan MU ships, search "warbird" under reward packs

    Thx.

I'll give that a shot. Can't afford anything yet though since that recently created toon (level 13) only has 350k EC. If I see a really good deal then I suppose my Fed or KDF toon can make the purchase...

You have plenty of time, since the Mirror vessels are level 40 minimum. Mirrors for Romulans are actually pretty good at fleshing out different specializations for escort-type Warbirds, at least. The basic Ha'feh, which is your only free escort-type Warbird at level 40, is basically the Romulan version of the basic Patrol Escort, while the Mirror Ha'feh is basically the Romulan version of the Advanced Escort. Mirror Dhelan and Mirror Mogai Retrofits , however, are even more specialized than those, with a heavy Engineering bent for the Mirror Dhelan and a heavy Science bent for the Mirror Mogai.

True, but if I see a good deal then there's no reason why not to the ship.

I bought a few ships off the ship store that cost pure Dil. So I can have another ship I wanted to use. These are easiest to get. The rest you can convert Dil to Zen points.

As for the mirror, I have bought a few already. Since they are usually the cheapest of the bunch. And I don't have to spend Dil or rear money for them. The Mirror Mogia saved me a C store purchase. The Mirror Cheyenne saved me from a huge fleet investment.

MU Star Cruiser is FD Assault Sovereign class and not the FD Star Cruiser. This gets a bit confusing.
So if you want the FD Star Cruiser Science version you need to get the MU Mirror Universe Assault Cruiser which is more on tactical and engineering console slots than just a science vessel more like assault though. But it's huge ship.

    3 tactical
    4 engineering
    2 science

dont buy the ships for dil :( they're a terrible value. these guys are great at offering things for absolutley terribad value to people who dont know better.

If you have any questions about market values or things of that nature join TheTradingChannel,

Its an open channel so just type /channel_join TheTradingChannel in the chat box and you'll be in. folks there will give you honest answers and opinions on the value of things, market trends, pretty much whatever.

There are always differing opinions, but more often than not a general consensus can be reached and you'd be suprised how much you can save.

Fleet variant has 4 tac, 2 sci, 4 engi. Excelsior same. Avenger same. How is it a "huge" ship? RA ships are nothing compared to Fleet respective.

Anyway, don't bother with Dilithium ships. They're totally NOT worth the investment. Trade it for ZEN and buy ships from C-Store, which is account-wide unlock and allows you to buy the Fleet-grade one with a great saving.

I got one of each in my bank inventory. :) The Assault Cruiser cost me around 900k EC while the Star Cruiser was around 500k EC.

Here's the link to the MU Assault Cruiser:

    - The Assault Cruiser has 2 tactical stations, the Star Cruiser has 1 tactical station.
    - The Assault Cruiser has 1 science station, the Star Cruiser has 2 science stations.
    - The Assault Cruiser has 3 tactical consoles, the Star Cruiser has 2 tactical consoles.
    - The Assault Cruiser has 2 science consoles, the Star Cruiser has 3 science consoles.
    - The Assault Cruiser has a crew of 1,000 vs 800 for the Star Cruiser. This means slightly faster hull repair.

Ship size in meters. Unless there is larger then these today..?

    ROM Schm 1500m
    KDF Vo'quv 1250m
    FED Star Cruiser 730m
    FED Assault Cruiser 685m

Fleet ships you need to be in Fleet. I haven't even touch my D-stock pile yet? LOL, Mirror versions seem okay to me and you get 3 to 4 different model skins to change them to.

^ This! The price of MU ships has gone up recently but still a bargain vs the Dil T5 vendor ships. At most, I've seen the KDF ones for 3-4M EC. Most are only a few hundred K. Only note, that the Boff layouts are opposite of the "prime" versions.

I think the T5 vendor ships are 200k Dil, right? At 135 Dil per Zen, that's roughly 1500 Zen. You can almost buy a C-store ship. AND a C-store ship unlocks for ALL your toons of that faction. So, essentially you are buying an infinite number of ships instead of 1 from the vendor. And they usually come with some useful (or useless ;)) console too.

My advice, buy a MU ship (or 2 or 5) and save your Dil til you can covert it Zen and get a C-store ship.

    OR... :D
Just wait for one of the "do mission get free ship" missions that Cryptic does a few times a year. Risa Event is coming in June(?) and they might do the Corvette again or some new ship you can buy with Risan items with just a couple weeks of a short daily grind.

Really? I snagged a couple when they were dirt cheap around 50k. Market was so flooded w/ them when they first came out. ;)
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.
