Should I be rolling to accx2 dmgx2 weapons?

carlosbflycarlosbfly Member Posts: 682 Arc User
I'm running a Fleet Advanced Escort with Tactical officer and have built up my ship to generally alright CritH and CritSev -

Crit Sev 120.8%
CritH 21.3%

That's all from manual calculations as the UI famously does not tally up certain bonuses like a maxed EWS skill. I've been using Anti-Proton DHC with DMGx3 but have been wondering if its time to shift over to ACCx2 DMGx2.

I only play PvE so will this really help me at all? I hear once you've got my kind of percentages on CritSev and CritH an ACCx2 on weapons does wonders.

Any advice?

Have you used other powers and items to boost accuracy? How about the other set items that improve Crit Chance & Crit Sev? Any rep system power traits?

I use the AP beam arrays with ACCx2 & DMGx2 but I have also things like the Nukara Particle Converter to add 10% acc to all beam weapons. Plus other items that help improve accuracy/crit chance & sev like the Romulan BOFFs with the Superior Romulan Operative trait.

If you hit perfectly, 1% of acc overflow adds 0.09% crit chance and 0.9% crit severity. Making it less effective than [crtH] and [crtD] modifiers.

If you don't hit perfectly, each bit of acc is infinitely more useful than [crtH] or [crtD].

Either way, [acc] is better than [dmg]. Get [acc]x3 [dmg]x1 for advanced fleet weapons, [acc]x3 for elite fleet, and [acc]x2 for Romulan Plasma. Go acc all the way.

I've got a Romulan BOFF with SRO on, yep. In terms of build, I've got all the times/skills recommended for a solid CritH/CritDmg build. My accuracy is currently 25%.

I've seen a few remarks from other players on here that when you've got my kind of hit percentage, switching to ACC x 2 DMG x 2 can make a big difference. I'm certainly killing things quite well in PvE but wondering if the extra ACC would help with criticals.

[Dmg]x3 is trash. Ditch it for Acc immediately.

So do you think ACC really helps in PvE? Even more so with my current CritH/CritDmg percentages?

Reading the parse logs, in pve, your accuracy should be between 99.9% and 100%.
So no major benefits from acc mod, only overflow that you get.

For pve even dmg modifier will slightly increase dps more than acc overflow.
    For your current build 1) crtD, 2)crtH, 3)DMG, 4)ACC.
For pvp acc is still king, there are couple of new toys that will give you about +1 acc mod for all your weapons if you choose to go for them, so there is a choice between fleet acc2 dmg2, mk xii acc3 or mk xii acc2, crtD1

I never go near PvP so basically I'm better off with what I've got then as accuracy isn't against computer enemies? So keep what I' ve got which is DMGx3 CritD weapons?

With 21.3% crtH go for crtDx3 if you can in pve, they are really expensive in exchange, mk xii purple can go more than 10 mil per piece, deepens of type of weapon, other best weapons are rep store weapons, you can get crtDx2 + extra proc, best dps should be from romulan plasma, others are not bad as well, or you can take fleet crtDx2,dmgx2

Edit: just thinking about it, the highest dps in pve should be adv. fleet antiproton crtdx2, dmgx2 (with omni beam and obel. warp core), romulan plasma crtdx2 (with zero-point and exper.beam) from rep store and normal disruptor mkxii crtdx3 (with undine turret and univ. undine console)

I can't see me having enough EC for those kinds of options so its going to be Fleet gear dual heavy cannons I'm afraid. Any suggestions with that in mind or do you think I should stick with DMGx3 CrtD?

Even if you don't want [acc], why would you want 3x of [dmg]?

And npcs have been using evasive since 2 seasons ago. You're missing a chunk of hits once in a while with low acc. This has been parsed to death. These chunks add up and puts you behind in dps over course of the match. The idea that you always hit npcs is an assumption that's been wrong as of 2 seasons ago.

+1 for Accx2 Dmgx2 with Fleet. Its basically choosing between bad (dmgx3 alternatives) and not so bad.

Men, listen, i dont want to be rude, take your ship in combat and parse log here, and prove that you miss the target. I have over 200 of them saved from this year and the worse one has 98,975% accuracy (this is including other 4 players and their results). Because there is something very wrong if you do miss targets in pve.
I will have to just double-check the revamp undine, i have never tried those, i haven't seen any misses in live play, but i will check anyway.

Edit: just did quick 5-min battlezone, they are little more faster that other AI groups, but still...
    Diesel: 99.27%
    Kel.... : 97.52%
    Sha...: 99.56%
    Skr... : 98.80%
    Yau...:99.30%

    Your post is wrong.
    1. There is no advanced fleet accx3 modifiers
    2. There is no elite fleet accx3 modifiers
    3. Your accuracy formula is wrong, there is no flat boost to crtD and crtH with every point of accuracy, it doesnt work quiet simple like that.

That is still great weapon, i dont think you should spend fleet credits and/or dilithium if you are heaving hard time earning them. All of those weapons are for min-maxing for players wanting the get every single point to raw dps and willing to pay and grind for them. You will be better of spending credits and EC on other goodies to improve your build.

Yeah, I'd love to know where these fleet weapons with any modifiers other than [DMG]x3 [X] or [DMG]x2 [ACC]x2 are.

The idea that [DMG] is a terrible mod is a persistent myth too. Its no worse than any other mod in specific circumstances, just like all the others.

Just for the hell of it, I made the sink last night into Fleet accx2 dmgx2 weapons DHC and I'm struggling to see any benefit. Its not giving any more crit hits and the critical severity damage is now obviously lower during PvE.

I don't see at all how accx2 dmgx2 weapons are any benefit outside of PvP so far.

The only PvE content I would see acc paying off is maybe the Spire/Breen FE missions. Most other PVE content the targets have 0 defense you will still miss because of random calculations but you will be as close to 100% hit the game allows. Borg STFs go as heavy CrtD you can muster most of the targets are stationary anyways.
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up

I spent a good week rolling Acc x 2 Dmg x 2 and I think I'd agree with most of you on here now. Its useless for PvE. The drop in critical severity damaged was very noticeable to me and I was taking a lot longer than normal killing things.

If you're like me and only play PvE (ad of course, have your CritH/CritD stats decent enough), I would stick with DMG x 3.

@noblet - that data is 1.5 years old ... is it still relevant?
