Question about Plasma ground "sets"

.

Both characters are Romulan/Remans and I want to equip one of my boffs (for each) with a plasma weapon + shield + armor (ground set).

My question is there a set available for achieve this; similar to the MACO but -phaser +plasma weapon?
(I have not reached max on the omega rep, at tier 3 and working on getting to tier 5 ... I am hopeful/wishes it is in there somewhere)

If not, what shield + armor work well together and which plasma weapon would you recommend?

    (1) Nope, no set currently exists with a Plasma Weapon.

Your choices are: (i) Phaser (ii) Disruptor (iii) Cold (iv) Antiproton (v) Proton (vi) Polaron

    (2) It depends what you want. Omega Armor is probably best for all-round DPS, and you could use the Crystalline Personal Shield and Crystalline Weapon too for a nice 2-set buff that will apply whenever you're using your Plasma Weapon... however if you go that route you won't get Knockback or Root Protection.

Omega Armor and Dyson Shield/Rifle might be another viable option - the shield has a nice emergency refill proc and the Dyson 2-set proc will help your Plasma Weapon too.

Oh, and either Pulsewave Assault or Sniper Rifle if you're going for standard sort of Plasma or Romulan Plasma weapons.

There's a special Romulan Plasma Flamethrower that's decentish, but consumes fuel charges. Some people have mentioned using it with the Firearms Specialist trait.

Personally I prefer throwing BOFFs in sets that have Procs or Set bonuses that will help me out - MACO/AMACO armor; or full Omega Force set, etc.

Currently, there are no plasma set weapons. However, you could run a Romulan Plasma Split Beam Rifle Mk XII [CritX]x2 or Romulan Plasma Pulsewave Assault MK XII [CritX]x2 from the Romulan Reputaiton system. Use the Omega set and you have very good offensive capability.

Aye ... Despite the fact that Romulan Rep is the only one WITHOUT a Ground Set ...

And despite the fact that Romulans and Remans are the ONLY race that has a damage type specific trait you can get ...

And despite the fact that they already have many, many assets in game from various NPC's that could easily be adapted to be "Romulan Praetor Ground Set" ... or "Reman Infiltrator Ground Set" ...

Cryptic has seen fit NOT to add a Ground Set to the Romulan Reputation System ... And not give Romulan's/Reman's a set bonus with their "native" damage type ...

    ...

Now that the war is over ... Maybe season 10 ... Season 11 fer shoor ...

Thank you maelwy5 and majortiraomega for the amazing answers!

Some of my Romulan Boffs come with the Plasma bonus ground trait; I was hoping to maximise it with a set (or part of a set: shield + armor).
They can only carry 1 weapon and so I was hoping for a Romulan set or a hard hitting set without the weapon!

I have my Fed tactical officer and BOFF's with the various sets from the rep.
They are a very powerful and hard hitting team; it's between one of the following:

    (a) Plasma weapon (+ ~7.5% bonus plasma damage from trait) + 2 piece set
    (b) 3 piece set (lose the trait bonus, but gain the complete set)

I am leaning towards (b) as it appears to make more sense and a better layout and just ignore the trait!

For my character, as I have 2 slots, I can keep the plasma weapon + trait and have the 3 piece set.
or remove the trait and go with a completely different weapon + 3 piece set :)

I already have the Romulan Plasma Split Beam Rifle Mk XII (can't remember the mods) and it is a sweet weapon.

Totally agree with you, I had a look in the rep system for the Romulan and was expecting it to be there, but for some reason was missed out and never added later ... not holding my breath for something to come along. Will most likely end up just ignoring the "plasma ground trait" on the BOFFs!

There are also a couple of plasma Piercing rifles, that are only in the Dilithium store I believe, that are pretty cool.

I posted a while back in the rep section trying to gain support for a couple of rom/reman ground sets built around the flamethrower, piercing rifles, etc focused probably against elachi or talshiar.

Support was very scarce, but I would still grind this out if it was released.

They even refused to add a plasma weapon to the 8472 rep set to go with the phaser and disruptor versions, and this was after the complaints about the lack of a Romulan set. I would try to be louder...

Yeah, I guess you've got to post in the right section ...

We also have the "Hybrid" Reman rifle as a reward, which is essentially a ground version of the Plasma-Disruptor Hybrid space weapons ... And then we also have an "Overcharged" Plasma Sniper Rifle as a reward in game ... plus the above mentioned Flame thrower and piercing weapons ...

We have both Romulan and Reman "Elite" Soldiers, with there own costumes that aren't available to players ...

So realistically, it's nothing less than laziness, on Cryptic's part that they haven't added a Ground Set to the Romulan Rep tree ...

Which seems strange, because, I know that they would be incredibly popular in game. So I don't get why they won't add them ...
