So, yesterday evening I stood and applauded as I picked up my last Omega XII weapon for my away team boff's I needed. I rewarded myself through my last ESTF for this shiny with listening to Peter Gabriel's "Steam" and did a little dance in my mancave here that people would have run in terror from as if a character from a Lovecraft short story confronted by the Ancient Ones in witnessing. For many ages, not quite as old as the Ancient Ones, I have strived and struggled through grind after grind for upgrading my grand ship (the John B. Wells) as well as my character (only have two, my main and my Rommie who is currently inactive - don't have time for more) and my boff's (all Omega XII shields and armor and weapons now) to be all they can be. And now I feel as if Rocky ready to take on Drago through STO - at least through PVE, I'll never do PVP as I just have zero interest.
And that's it! So say we all! The last grind for a shiny has ended! Selah! Grind is deader than Keith Richards for me in going forward (undead?). And now I finally, alas, Babylon, finally have the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of my labor through actually getting out there and exploring with my boff's (I've grown quite attached to them) and actually, wait for the Shatneresque pause... having adventures. There are over 300 stories I've been anxiously awaiting to enjoy from the Foundry and this anticipation has gotten me through all the grind (I wish I had some Surge cola too in playing STF's, man I miss that stuff, but I digress). I am very excited to jump into, what I've heard to be, the exceptional Purity series as well as finally experiencing all the many wonderful adventures in just having a groovy ol' fun time with the stories that many others have worked so hard to present. I'm also looking forward to picking up with the dev's Romulan storyline and going through all the different stories the devs have created (haven't even started on the Solane stuff or visited it yet).
The grind has never been the end game for me - only a means through building my ship and my crew up through having some of the best equipment in game as a means to an end in going out there and enjoying all the various stories. I always find it curious when I hear of others stating that the grind is the end game. I've always found this odd - why spend hours upon hours of grinding for new shiny equipment if all you're going to do is use the new shiny equipment to grind faster for new stuff without ever actually going out there and exploring, seeking new life and civilizations, boldly going through all the wonderful stories of having fun in the game? There exists literally thousands of stories - and hundreds of them that are good to very good. Is this not "Star Trek" Online? I've been saving up various Foundry missions I'm looking forward to through various sources (such as Starbase UGC) to go out there and experience and enjoy after obtaining all the shinies I was aiming for through the grind. For me, it's about getting out there and having some fun with my crew - never has it been about grind for grind's sake.
And so, the last of the grind is over for me. There may be more grind in the future created for us - and I wish all of you well who participate in new grind that may be developed in the future. As far as I and my crew, we will be out there exploring amongst the stars. The only thing that would ever take me back to grinding again in the future would be if it opened up additional story content as I have all the shinies I'll ever need, thank ya kindly. Eh, I'll still do an occasional ESTF or PVE mission just for the fun and the extra dilithium payout, but never again will I go through it just for the hope of some additional shiny.
TL;DR: I've finally hit all my goals for equipment I wanted through grinding and I'm looking forward to experiencing all the many adventures out there through the Foundry missions in enjoying my new shinies and won't be grinding for more in the future and I find it pointless to grind for additional grind with no additional purpose.
Your goals were much higher than mine, I just got 5 sets for my boffs and rotate them for those I use on a particular mission.
Just finished doing the "No Prize For Second Contact" series and it is fantastic. Give it a try! I play tons of Foundry as well, hit me up if you would like some suggestions!

I absolutely welcome recommendations. I've checked through Starbase UGC in locating dozens and through the various threads under the Foundry section of the forum. I have well over 300 (many of these are from the same author). I plan on doing one per day 4-5 days per week - should have enough saved up currently to last me for at least a little over a year. And by then we'll hopefully have the expansion into the Delta quadrant (even if I'd prefer the Gamma quadrant) and hopefully many new excellent stories by the devs as well as plenty more Foundry opportunities from authors by then. End game for me in STO is enjoying all the missions and having fun with it in immersing myself in the stories - may actually look into creating my own one day as well.
I find it strange when others argue there isn't enough content in this game (or end game content for that matter) - there are literally thousands of missions. I guess some people just don't like stories.
No more new shinies for me that have to be acquired through grind. I'm done. The only way I'll get back into a regular grind other than a one off ESTF or fleet action from here on out will be if it unlocks additional story content/missions.
Hey friend that sounds like a plan. Friend me in-game at Grayfox@GrayfoxJames if you wish to explore together. I've done my grind as well. My Boff's and ship are kitted out...I have all the Rep ground Mk X, XI, and XII gear and a lot of fleet stuff.
Recently I've been accolade hunting and exploring the game. I am taking one sector at a time and entering every planet and instance at least once. I'm also exploring every Nebula at least the initial 15 times for the first accolade. I am currently exploring Cardassian/Breen space and have stationed myself in DS9. I am at the moment accolade hunting in the Deferi area; but would also love to do some Foundry missions and looking to do the Borg ones again.
After Deferi I plan to go back into Borg territory and then later base out at New Romulus to explore there.
P.S. Congrats.

I appreciate this thread. But, having all those shinies might make those foundry quests way too easy. Still, who cares if you're just playing for story and exploration.
You could have played the game this way from the beginning. I'm leveling a toon entirely through Foundry and it's very fun, when I can find the missions that are out there.
Thanks for playing foundry. I hope the game feels more like Star Trek and less like one of those arcade claw games.
Please remember that we authors get a lot of one stars if we actually design missions that require all the shinies to beat.
Also, don't forget to pick up the IOR mission each time you play a foundry mission. It's not the fastest way to earn dilithium, but it's the funnest way.
The Purity series was just okay IMO, I expected more from the talent involved in it. Some episodes and maps were pretty sub-standard. But overall worth a playthrough.
I'd like to suggest some mission and authors I found fun for ya: "Own Worst Enemy" and "The Interwarp Experiment" are good fun and heavy on the Trek episode vibe. CaptainRevo and XerosArmera I find do good work and offer up fun missions.
Just some suggestions to help ya get started! Message me anytime for more or if you find a really good mission, let me us know!
And Kirksplat: Keep it up, there are many of us Foundry lovers out there who appreciate the efforts! To us, you guys are providing the true endgame. And give me those challenging missions, I won't one-star it!

Thanks a lot. I haven't felt motivated to do much in the foundry for a long time, but posts and threads like these put me in better spirits.

Until the next shiny, naturally.
Wasn't going to waste too much into them, seeing how they die to easily even with mk xii gear.

It means more to authors than you can imagine.

Depends on the boff my photonic science and android boff can easily survive tanks to their excellent tanking ability.
