Undine Infiltration (put out the fires Optional)

tinnydancertinnydancer Member Posts: 1
Okay right, did you guys think this one through at all? Was it the old get it done now instead of get it done right thing?

When put out the fires optional pops, assuming you can find a console to collect the fire extinguisher (what is there like one console to collect an extinguisher in the entire map?) it gets slotted automatically in the top left device slot and any device you previously had slotted disappears from your action bar. The extinguisher doesn't replace the device in your action bar just in the device slot.

So you either have to open the action bar selection tray and drag and drop the fire extinguisher to your action bar or open your toon profile, which fills about 40% of your screen real estate then right click and select use to put out a fire.....

Right so, once you've used said extinguisher 3 (3 charges really, was that just to annoy us) times it disappears. Does the device previously slotted get moved back?... um,... NOPE!

We have to stop and open our character sheet and re-equip said device back into the now vacant device slot, having done so, does the action bar get re-populated with that device so recently vacated by the consumption of the extinguisher? Nope, gotta open up the ground abilities tray and drag it back to the action bar.

BRILLIANT!

I agree, that is very annoying. Having that temporary Fire Extinguisher move out your item in the device slot, wait 30 seconds, and then having to create a toolbar icon to use the blasted thing. Then having to do it again when you need another Fire Extinguisher.

Why couldn't they create a temporary special event toolbar?

This is the easiest optional ever seen in a videogame, and yet you find something to complain ? Do you really need your 4 devices to take out a lone bajoran ?
Stop finding Undines, extinguish fire, and then get back to the interrogation. Easy.

No I don't need 4 devices but I neither do I need to have to stop and re-do my action bar every time I pick up an extinguisher.

You didn't state if you were Fed or not, but Fed characters can get an unlimited use extinguisher from a story mission which I personally slot when starting that mission. Also the yellow circles on your minimap denote extinguisher locations 5-7 irrc.

Yeah, I don't do this optional simply because of the time it takes to redo my ability tray combined with the fact that it's not a permanent extinguisher.

Perhaps it could be changed so that we activate a nearby fire suppression system? A nearby fire suppression system that did not activate because the Undine that started the fire also sabotaged it?

One complaint you can neutralize at least, if you come at the row of 3 'fires' from the side and get as close as you safely can, you can hit all of them with one spray. The 'only 3 charges' thing becomes irrelevant at that point.
