Due to the spring sale I would like to buy a new ship.I currently have a Cardassian galor, and a Fleet Tactical escort (Both with fleet equipment and a well thought out build),and I was thinking of buying ether the Avenger class,or the Galaxy Bundle(I plan to use the dreadnought) but I have a few concerns first.
My Cardassion Galor has a shield mod of 1.3+1.2(filed generator console) and even with this high shield cap along with Jem'hadar shields MK12 I still can have trouble in a prolonged fire fight in pve(elite)and pvp.The galor also has a turn speed of 10 and impulse modifier of .17 so it gets a decent deffence rating, but the dreadnought only has a turn of 6(8 with set) and impulse mod of .15 as well as a shield mod of only 1.1 (But a decent hull) so it gets hit more and can take less to the shields.
The avenger seems like a better choice with its turn rate, and console set up but one must also consider the recent Galaxy reboot giving the dreadnought a hangar bay as well as some possible set effects with parts from the other galaxy ships such as saucer separation. (BTW I have the cloak from the Tac and it can be used on both ships.
My planed build (Basic) for the dreadnought is to use the lobi elachi single cannon along with the elachi torpedo to give me the extra disruptor damage and shield set effect along with a full single cannon (disruptor) build with turrets in the back and a RCS accelerator. (or use my old fleet MK12 polaron beam arrays with trans torpeados and full Jem space set)
My planed build(Basic) for the avenger would be (antiproton) dual beam banks in front with turrets in back along with the Antiproton 360 arc array and obelisk warp core for extra antiproton set effect damage along with a cloak for a surprise.
Gal-X with cannons is just a bad idea, in my opinion. Gal-X just doesn't move; even PvP builds just move like whales. Get the Avenger. Or you could do a beam boat with the new Fleet Patrol Escort.
Turn rate aside, the Gal X just doesn't have the boff seating to support cannons properly. It's really more of a beam boat. If you want cannons on a cruiser, then the Avenger has both the turn and the boff seating to handle it.

I agree, I like the Gal-X and my Fed eng has both it and an Avenger. I just don't equip canons on the Gal-X, it's good as a beam boat though, I do equip them on the Avenger though.
are 180*single cannons any good?I think they could be useful for a slow turning ship due to their range.
and can single cannons work on the avenger instead of dual cannons/dual heavy?
Or are dual beam banks a better option
Beams are better for slow turning ships. With FAW spam you will also do more damage than single cannons. For actual cannons, dual heavies are the standard. Single cannons are kind of a left over weapon that no one uses anymore since they're outclassed. DBBs are fine though, they do their job.
You're going to have a hard time beating your Galor as a cruiser, and the only escort that would be any significant improvement over your Defiant is the new one which isn't on sale. Other stuff might be fun to play with, but there's no real math reason to switch.
You might consider stuff for your Rom or Klingon characters. Valdore console or Plasmonic Leech are always a boost to any ship (and currently cost 800z each), or fun ships like the T'varo or D'deridex or Mogh or Kar'fi are certainly good picks as well.
does the dreadnought's saucer separation+antimatter spread set+ 1 hangar bay+ its spinal phaser lance make the ship wort it, or better than my current ship the cardassian galor?
It all depends on what kind of ship you want to fly.
If you want a slower, larger, tankier beam boat cruiser that has a few nifty tricks up it's sleeve, then the GX is more what you want.
If you want a smaller, more maneuverable battle cruiser that has the ability and the boff seating to support dual cannons if you so desire (although it's fine as a beam boat too), then the Avenger is more what you want.
Alternatively, your Galor is still a solid ship. Maybe before committing to a new ship, post up your build and have some of the guys around here take a look at it if you're having trouble with it.

Avenger is the most flexible, and it will handle differently than your galor, so you wont feel like you're in the same ship. Set it up for go-fast mode and run DHCs, and you can treat it like a really big escort.

I agree with you, but as the OP has stated, they do not like the look of it and have elemenated that one.
As such I think the best bet for the OP with the fondnes for hangars would be to get the Gal-X and then save up for either Advanced Danube Runabouts or or Advanced Delta Fliers.

or should I go with the avenger
