Prediction .... 9 weapon cruisers coming

We know that a negh-var refit and that mystery cruiser glimpsed in the featured episode are forthcoming.

I'm betting they will have 9 weapon slots as is the trend with the new escort.

    I wouldn't be at all surprised.

    However, after that and the patrol escort, Cryptic have given up any right to talk about balancing power creep.

    Cruisers already got their special treatment: The Cruiser commands.
    Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
    Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

    That "mystery cruiser" is leftover material from when Perpetual Entertainment were making the game. If you look hard, it appears in several places in-game as a wreck, and used to appear on the hologram outside the old ESD shipyard.

    My money would be on Cryptic being able to use it in-game but not sell it.

    A 9-weapon Negh-var refit? Yes, please. I'll understand if the 9th weapon is fused, but KDFs need a monstrous ship to stand next to the Mogh. That is, if it's not a Raptor or Raider. I'm sure a lot of KDF players would prefer a new ship in one of those categories first. Battlecruisers have got enough attention recently IMO.

    Personally I'd like to see more science ships for the KDF that people don't have to spend 800 lobi or 2500 zen to get since the Vo'quv just doesn't cut the mustard. Granted you can use BoP as a sci heavy ship but doesn't have the same abilites as say a Luna.

    Though 9 weapon ships...good god, what's next a full on 5/5 ship? Probably when tier 6 ships finally get cut loose when we go to full admiral and have the level cap extended.

    A Cruiser with 9 Weapon Slots? I'm not personally seeing it. I would instead suspect that (as Science Ships are getting a second Deflector Slot) Cruisers are likely to receive a fixed Console Slot, at least any new cruisers of equal standing are likely to receive such.

    Makes more sense than to have a Cruiser with a 9th Weapon Slot. Might as well upgrade to 10 if that's to be the case.

    The Galaxy X is already a 9 weapon Cruiser. :)
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    I dont think so. The Bortasqu for example can be built to be even better than the Mogh.. lol. And honestly the Mogh itself is a beast, i dont know why the KDF will want stronger ships. Seriously. Maybe it is because the rommies have the Scimi? lol, always the same story...

    I dunno. Cruisers are all about having even slots. Unless the 9th is a fused omnidirectional weapon, this would break that philosophy.

    There's a false assumption going around with the release of the Tempest that it's a 4/4 escort. It's not - it's a 4/3 escort with an additional weapon that only fires at a 90-degree angle aft of the ship. As people have said, this is presumably to ward off Raiders looking to abuse their flanking bonus.

    The Tempest's tail gun doesn't really contribute to power creep. If it was treated like a turret, then maybe. But it's not.

    I'm thinking maybe a 7 weapon Nebula; with some kind of integrated torpedo launcher (based on the tactical pods seen on screen).

    I think many of us have always wanted the Nebula to be a Cruiser/Science hybrid with 7 weapons. :)

    As much as I hate some Cryptic designs (Odysee and Avenger as popular examples), all of them are outright beauties compared to most of the perpetual designs... this one in particular...

    With the mogh we have a pretty good cruiser. And with the Bortasqu even 2 differently but still strong cruisers.

    Given that Raptors are poor mans escorts what we need are more raiders, they are our faction unique (more or less) ships.

    Do we really need any more weapons on ships, be it cruisers or any other kind?

    I mean seeing as the current FOTM in using BFAW A2B cruiser beam spam, and that seems to melt everything onscreen I really can't see how any extra weapons would be a good idea. Power creep would get way out of hand, not that it isn't already though!

    And to be honest by using a variety of uni consoles you can already get a ridiculous number of weapons mounted on a ship (VATA, spatial charges, isometric charge, point defence systems etc).

    I could possibly see some very restricted fused weapons being ok, like with the new tempest or dyson ships, but you've then gotta balance out every other T5 ship with the new ones or everyone will stop using the older outgunned ships. These sorts of ships need to have some sort of consequences such as only working in a weaker ship mode (DD proton cannons) or something.

    IMO klingons need a 5 forward weapons+1 aft raider, or a 5 forward+2 aft like the kumari, the klingons are the "strap a billion guns to that ship and go kill something" faction, hell i'd say they need both of those IMO, due to the lack of ships.

    wouldn't mind seeing a klingon escort carrier either though, with attack oriented pets.

    if it's a fused weapon, it better be those huge underbelly heavy disruptor cannons the IKS Negh'var used to knock out DS9's shields in Way of the Warrior

    played the armada games as a kid and that's what il always remember the Negh'var for the Big fireball of dooooom!

    I've wondered when they were going to upgrade the Galaxy D to it's proper 10 beams and 2 torp bays, as expressed in "Conundrum"
    Always loved Worf's "We're a battleship line"

    So a 6 x 6 ship would not be out of canon.

    We know that a Negh'var is coming? Anything actually said recently? Been talk of a new Negh'var for a year or more and that sorta became the Mogh.

    Ships with more guns is just insanely stupid.

    The game is running into severe issues with rendering lots of effects in areas like Crystal Entity of the new battlezone. Adding another set of weapons the game needs to render is only going to make it worse.

    Frankly, if they are going to push this then I would rather they add secondary engines, shields warp cores and warp engines. All of these are glorified stat stick items with the exception of the cosmetic effects.

    Prime example is something like the Dual cannons, if someone slots multiples of them. Just turn them into Quad Cannons.

    Klingons don't really need it though, obviously they rushed out the new ship to combat the flanking bonus the Raiders only recently got...

    I don't think with aux to batt builds everywhere now that cruisers need anything more.
    I'm with the poster that mentioned a 5fore weapon klink BoP like a kumari or something like that.
