Over the past few months I experienced trouble redeeming prepaid cards. Apparently it has something to do with Windows XP being phased out. Internet Explorer is no longer supporting XP and so it causes problems with the ARC site. Bottom line I installed Mozilla Firefox and was able to then complete my transactions with Arc Games. In this ever changing cyber world we live in there will always be workarounds. Just thought that the STO community ought to know about the XP problem and it's fix.
not if you don't want to. If Win XP works for him, and he doesn't want to dish out $200 to upgrade to another good OS then why should he?
That being said, I used XP myself until about 18 months ago when I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate.
I would reccomend he upgrade to Win 7 Ultimate, but his system may not be designed for the upgrade. Don't know his system specs so who knows. regardless, thanks for the info and update!
To be honest I use XP out of choice...I hate windows 8. I don't want frills and connecting to social media. I don't even have a Facebook account. Star Trek is the only MMO I play. Once I learned of the ARC issue and Internet Explorer problem I found the workaround. By doing that I saved $200.00 to spend on STO rather than another operating system. So when you run into my Wells time ship that has maxed out equipment think DOH... you got Windows 8.

Because it's not up to the rest of the planet to accommodate every cheap so-and-so who thinks MS-DOS 5.0 fits their needs? :rolleyes:
