Now I played this for awhile and the redone episodes, now my question to cryptic !!

Why are chars tell a few lines and you have to read the rest ???
That's even more tiring then read the whole tekst, plus it's boring to read for most so when the sound stops I'll bet people skip the rest.

Anyway I would like to ask cryptic to fill in text voice overs that are half done !! PLEASE ??? :P

The simplest answer is that voice acting costs more money and takes up more data space on players' computers. I'd rather that the voice acting budget be spent on a smaller number of high quality things (e.g. having Leonard Nimoy, Denise Crosby, Michael Dorn, and Tim Russ providing significant voice acting) than having every last line by less-important characters be voiced.

Its funny you brought this up because I was thinking the same thing today "wouldn't it be nice if my character in game was included in the scenes with voice over work". Something similar to TOR. One thing I really did love about that game, it really made me feel part of the action hearing my character talk, even if it was a generic voice over for the entire class.

But yes, it would cost big bucks, unless they got some unknown to do it. Love to even have optional choice of dialogue for each event in the discussion, again like TOR, would be brilliant for this game.

I don't mind reading the dialogues at all - in fact, some may provide key information to complete a mission.

I've also already had in mind what sort of personalities and voices my player captain and BOffs would have, and I'd prefer not to have a jarring generic voice forced down on me, thank you very much.

^This. I'd rather they spent the money of fixing things although I know that's wishful thinking. Aside from the expense for voice overs it would also increase the size of the client download considerably, all for something that you are going to want to skip over after the first time hearing it.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.

I really only noticed this in Sphere of influence and some of the regular missions. I don't mind the latter, but for Sphere of Influence, most of Cryptic's VO budget probably went to Miachael Dorn. Knowing him, he probably asked for an absurd amount. :P

Agreed but important or not if they do 3 lines and write 16 what's the difference by finishing the other 13 lines of text, and most chars that do speak are unknown to us like Jeremy did the captain of DS9 let him fill in the rest of the captains lines, he is already paid so let him finish the rest off the captains dialogs, same for the rest, And not half work .

I do not believe it cost that much extra and indeed Stwor was cool just because all was voice acted and that's what I love here with sto to, and I think if they did a contest for people to send in voices for chars and cryptic may choose witch they may like to have, I can do a good voice and I won't charge them for it. I do believe if you ask more people they would do the same only to get a great game even greater !!

Like I said they pay for a voice for one day of voice acting there wasn't a line for how many hours ...
Of Course know cannon is expensive but like Captain Sjon isn't a known captain like the others are no known actors so they get a lot less then michael dorn did...

    Financial reality > your belief.

I have exactly no idea what the contracts are or what it says, but still would be nice if they continue the VO works on the half done parts :D

I'd be nice if they had 2-3 voice options for our toons to choose from at the tailor. I'm tired of hearing all this new voice-over and then when my toon talks, nothing but pantomime.

For voice actors being too expensive. I bet they could get players to gladly read dialogue for free just so they can tell their friends they did it.

More VO work would be nice, though there are a lot of other things that would be even nicer.

However, a lot of the current VO work is so-so quality. T'nae, for example, has always grated on my nerves.

That said, I bet they could go to a local college and get some voice actors who are dirt cheap but know what they're doing.

Captain Shon isn't really a good example of cheap voice acting. I'm fairly certain he's actually a dev, not just a voice actor, which is why he voices half the characters in the game. :P

Shon and Hakeev are played by Dave Rivas, who is a professional voice actor and most certainly not a Cryptic dev.

Thats my opinion too, if people send some voice work done from STO and put it in a letter what they did and Cryptic likes it I think they would use it if you tell them it's free to use.

So if you guys like start acting for your voice and send it with a paper copy to cryptic

I do have to agree that it is really irritating when you have a VO for the first line but then it cuts out. In an ideal world, everything would be VO (for FEs at least) because it hurts immersion to only have part of it. But I accept that would rather break the budget. But if they can't afford to voice the whole paragraph, it would be better not to voice the first line. It highlights the absence, if you catch my drift.

The last FE was very good on VO though. They managed to do it there and it really helped the story to have some emotion behind the words, even for the minor characters.

As for TOR, I hope Cryptic don't go so far as to give our characters a VO. Characters are very personal and I wouldn't want an accent and intonation forced upon mine.

Yeah, my Romulan is meant to have a badass arrogant English accent. Then, some overly American dude, will come along, and voice him. I don't want, some American accent, doing a voice, for someone meant to have an English accent.
