After cruiser, bird of prey, science boost ( that last one comes in season 9.5 ) and gecko mentioned "targetting computers" for escorts, can we have a carrier buff?
1st buff should be customisable pets.
2nd buff should be a working docking function.
3th buff should be a small-medium defense boost.
4th buff should be a smarter ai which tries to ignore breaches ( only using intercept while we got attack and defend commands too is pretty useless and not the goal of carrier commands ).
5th buff should be that pets with cannons should do attack runs. At the moment they only use turrets/beams the most time.

Yeah, I'll go with "How about no?"
Been a carrier user since STO came out and the Vo'Quv being the only carrier of the game at the time. As for your points:
1. I don't think so. The customization will blur the distinctiveness of the pets.
2. There is a "docking" function. It's your "Recall" command. It takes a little bit of time for it to complete as your hangar units come back then prepare to dock. Once they do, they start getting hull & shield repairs. There's times where you want to do this, esp. in preserving your frigates with their 5 stars.
3. Not needed. The different types are that way for a reason: Fighters are quickly replaced but fragile. Frigates are much more sturdy but take forever to replace. Fed Shuttles are in the medium.
4. Your 4th point is something that we've been asking for for a long time. The AI likes to hover around destroyed ships and sitting next to soon to exploding warp & singularity cores.
5. I can concur with your 5th point. There's current, somewhat laborious workarounds right now. Case in point, Vo'Quv BOP pets. Recall them and preferrably at 5km+, send the Attack Order. They'll blaze away with their CRF, HYT, etc. But yes, the AI likes to take fast, nimble hangar units and make them do long, lazy turns.
