A couple of questions

I'm not new, but there are still some things (ok maybe a few :P) that I don't know, so I'm going to take the patch downtime as an opportunity to ask you lovely people.

Firstly, is it possible to get embassy and spire provisions from doffing?
I've recently discovered you can get mine provisions from a critical on the mine doff job, but I can't find anything equivalent at the spire or embassy. Is it not there, or am I just missing it?

Secondly, fleet gear.
I recently treated myself to the fleet galaxy dread, I'd like to put elite fleet gear on her. The whole deal, weapons, consoles, shield, warp core etc... But would that be comparable to a rep set? Or is a rep set ALWAYS better?

i do not know of any doff missions that give embassy provissions or spire but as for fleet equipment it is superior in a lot of ways to rep items but there are some rep equipment pieces you might want still for consoles the fleet consoles are second to none for a deflector and engines go rep and for shields an elite fleet shield is very effective at mitigating damage.

No, as far as i know there is no way to get "free" spire or embassy provisions from doff assignments.

Fleet gear is not better than reputation gear. Lets say its the same with a slighty difference. In some circunstances fleet gear can compete with reputation gear, but reputation gear is most of the times better because they grant you flat bonuses equiping a few pieces. And for dedicated builds, its always better to have a set with bonuses that alone equipment.

But for people who only wants to have fun with their ship, its probbly that you will only hve 1 reputation item for the visuals, or something like that, and other items will fit even better to your purposes. The Fleet resilient shield is actually the best of the game if you dont want a set equiped. Its even better than the maco one in most circunstances.

Sorry to hijack someone elses thread but the way these forums are structured is insane!

I'm looking for advice as a first time player of STO (downloading right now) but it says I can't post any threads?
    Hello Captain!

At this time, you may only post replies to threads that have already been created. After a certain amount of time has passed since your registration date, you will be able to create new threads in forums that allow it.

    Thanks,

I understand that this is to prevent spamming of the forums but how long do I have to wait to be able to post threads?
