Romulan Bridge officer story line

rarebear1rarebear1 Member Posts: 118 Arc User
I have noticed that when you play as the Romulans your first bridge officer is looking for her sister do anyone knows how it ends?

You could just play it, you know. But if you have to ask: SPOILERS (below in black)

    It ends well.
FKA K-Tar, grumpy Klingon/El-Aurian hybrid. Now assimilated by PWE.

I would post spoiler alert, but you specifically asked about it, so here goes.

You find her in a Tal Shiar lab, they have a quick chat, then you beam her to your ship, never to be seen, heard from, or spoken of again. Meanwhile, in my experience, the officer in question's story ends with my character finally being unable to take further insubordination and general whining on the bridge, and reassigning the officer to latrine cleaning duties with a toothbrush until Cryptic finally lets me put him down like I dealt with Hakeev.

This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!

Okay that is good to know, Onto another topic I wonder if any other Bridge officers will have a story arc?

And then a snake-like creature bursts out of her chest during the reunion dinner.

You really should play the missions instead... The Rom story is such a well done piece, that knowing the details kinda ruins it.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

    Looking for her sister?

It sounds like Tovan Khev's story is more interesting and complicated than I had previously thought.

Did they give Tovan Khev a gender reassignment for Season 9? I remember the story quite clearly, and it was him looking for his sister.

I think most (all) of the Romulan Story line BoFF's have more "depth" to them, at least more "story" as to why they are there ... With the possible exception of Setka, who just seems to turn up at your door one day ...

What I'd really like to see, is the ability to at least chose between Tovan and his sister in the beginning ... So you can decide if you want a Bridge Bunny or Bromance, right from the outset.

It wouldn't really be all that difficult to change the dialgoues ...
    For example

'I cant believe Charva lied to us! We used to be so close!"
    becomes
"I can't believe Charva lied to us! She and Tovan used to be so close
    or
'I cant believe Charva lied to us! We were friends, and She and Tovan were so close"
Oh, hoho hohhhhh, Oh,, hoho, hohhhhh

I cannot watch a movie with my family because of this.

I hope not. I quite like being able to make up my own damn story for them.

You mean Satra? You find her on the Suliban Helix. Apparently she was a refugee and on the run from the Tal Shiar. But yeah, not much story there.

That wouldn't even have to change. It doesn't imply any romantic dealings. There's another line that does, but even that doesn't have to mean that.

Besides, that all happens before you find the sister.

ALL the Romulan boffs have a story.

    Tovan, said and done already.

Satra, pretty basic survivor of Romulus/doctor who looks after refugees.

Hiven, another basic one, wants revenge for the death of his brother.

Veril, daughter of Zden, the LEADER of the Reman colony on Crateris. Joins you to find her father.

Sadly you DO find him in the Elachi base and when you pull him from the tube, he is dead. Veril says nothing because unlike Tovan you could fire her any time... However the mere fact he is in the tube in the first place implies that they wanted to do something with it but didn't.

You can also change the names and appearances of Satra, Hiven and Veril, effectively turning them into completely different characters.

You can't do that with Tovan, for the same reason I presume why you can't get rid of him: Doing so would break all the missions that use him and his voice. I recently replayed most of the Republic arc to build up my toon's XP, and even though I didn't have Tovan at any BOff station or on my away team, he still got in all his dialogue, voice and all. It struck me then that Cryptic would have to rewrite virtually all of those missions to account for players not having Tovan. (Even Fed and KDF players were treated to one of their own BOffs speaking in Tovan's voice during the Nimbus III arc; not sure if Cryptic ever bothered to fix that.)

Last, but not least, not having Tovan would also force a rewrite of "Installation 18" to account for Rinna not being your toon's first officer's sister, as well as dialogue references to Rinna in previous missions.

Know the feeling. Were we're watching STID with my grandparents when my grandfather says, about halfway through, "Something is different about Kirk and Spock..."
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
    What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!

After the mission where we find Rinna, I went in and bought another purple ROM Boff, engineer in fact, female too, and named her Rinna Kev... Tried to make her look like the NPC too...

Helps with my immersion... I don't like loose ends...

    I know what you mean.

However, the trade off for that is Cryptic can't make stories to illuminate those boff back stories we make up for ourselves.

In all honesty, i don't mind a tovan Khev, or a Nelen Exil for that matter.

As long as storied boffs are high enough quality to keep, having one or two on the roster doesn't bother me much.....especially if it allows Cryptic to put together some pretty good story telling around it.

Both sides have their tradeoffs. I say let the nerds have their characters chock full of custom boffs and their almighty HEADCANON or whatever it's called. Some of them put a lot of money into the game.

IF they ever put in the personal fleets they said they wanted to do and IF they let us assign Boffs as captains of the ships i'll probably roll a new Fed just to have her on my main account, (Got a secondary for fleet related stuff that has her), just so i can put her in command of her very own Vesta.

Actually there should be an achievement for that if they ever put those personal fleets in IMO.

    Cool idea
I think a great many people would choose Rinna over Tovan and there would be much less complaining even though she'd have the same dialog really. This would be because she has TRIBBLE and Tovan does not.

Until the failed "Cannot dismiss Khev" mechanic is corrected in some way, it does bother me.

Even if the correction is making all "mandatory, non-dismissable" BOffs come with their own BOff slot, that works- but BOff slots are sold in the C-store, and I refuse to get comfortable with the idea the Cryptic can stick me with their choices then "graciously offer" to let me buy slots to use officers of my choice with after they fill my last one up with a placeholder that pretty much permanently denies me the slot one of their story pieces occupies.

Give him his own dedicated slot, or make him dismissable. Simplicity itself.
