To the person(s) using Tachyon Detection Grid mid Planet Killer fight in BZ...

...my graphics card would like to have a short discussion with you out back.

Yes, Cryptics game engine can't render some things, when their numbers go to high.

I can live with not seeing my weapons or torpedos at the climax of a fight with the Planet Killers in battlezone.

I can handle going invisible from time to time. I can handle the order in which your stuff is rendered.

I am drawing the line however with users of Tachyon Detection Grid.

My entire screen a spiderweb of rendering useless blue lines. I know YOU think the Planet Killers use cloaking technology. BUT THEY DONT.

EEEEDIOTS.

You actually brought my entire system to a complete standstill. 100% on all four graphics processors. 100% on all four main processors. 2GB of available memory. And to top it all off, it jumped my core temperature by +35C in a matter of 10 seconds.

... my computer almost had a stroke.

You need a license to get married, drive a car, and own a firearm. Why can't we enforce licenses on starship captains....

What possibly happened, is that, in the battles afterward against the Voth, who -do- have a sorta-cloak ability, someone may've used the TDG...

...which is exactly what *I* did once, last night...a bunch of Voth popped in all-around me about midway through the after-battle timer, and, on pure instinct, I popped the TDG when several vanished at the same time...completely forgetting how many ships were nearby...and discovering that it affects mines, too.... :( I ended up apologizing several times in zone chat.

But, and let me emphasize, I =DID NOT=, and would never use it during the Undine portions...it has no use during that part, but it works wonders against anything that can cloak or use other stealth powers.....

Stop crying and get a better graphics card, and get a better CPU fan too. Also, you DO NOT need a license to buy a firearm unless you live in a libtard state like Cali-cronia, New Yolk, or New Jawsey!

Is this post even serious? First don't blame your rotten rig on another player. I have a 4 year old PC and a 2 year old GPU and I have no issues running this gaming at max res, max settings and get flawless frame rates. Second, Tachyon Detection Grid is not just for cloaked ships. It does grant a stealth sight boost yes, but the main buff of TDG is a team buff to sensor abilities which is turn will improve your weapons accuracy and in turn your DPS. Until Cryptic can do something about the lag that happens when everyone starts attacking the Planet Killers... I've been kinda avoiding the new battlezone. It can get bad even on a decent machine, just like in Starbase Fleet Defense.

It may not be just the system. I have a I73770k overclocked to 4.3 mhz with 2 EVGA 680 Classified cards with 4 gbs of video ram each. all on a ASUS Rampage motherboard, with 32 gigs of ram AND I still have slow down and stuff disappearing. So I dont believe its a graphics issue. It may just be a couple of bugs or something. But it is annoying as hell and I wish they would get it fixed.

Kinda shameless to accuse a guy who already apologized. Besides, he had nothing to be sorry about. Your petty graphics card issues are not his problem.

And, to extend your car analogy, it is really YOU who needs a driver's license for Starship Captains. Or, rather, they should have impounded your car for 'driving in a vehicle unfit for highway travel.'

Exactly. I've said this in the other thread about this too: the Undine Zone lag us caused server-side, and not really by your graphics card. It's the same type of lag you see on large spawns in Starbase Fleet Defense and such.

You should know that windows was not designed to handle CPUs overclocked beyond 4Ghz. That kind of overclocking will create its own set of problems.

I figured out how to make the graphics issue worse for everyone. After the Bulwark Battleships spawn their shields and everyone is already spamming FAW, deploy charged partcile burst then immediately hit tachyon grid. I have my graphic settings turned down so basically a whole lot of things on my screen just disappear but I know it makes other people very unhappy. :D

Hang it up. This is the internets, where once something is posted it's done and out there forever. That said...[censored] anyone who thinks everyone else in the game owes it to them to only use what they/their computer approve of. The proper approach for them is suck it up or move on, not demand that everyone else dance around your personal issues. Yeah OP, that means you.

It is absolutely an engine problem.... I dont know how they even let it pass during testing. I have a pretty stout machine as well the and rates drop to single digits when fighting the Voth in the BZ. My CPU and GPU usage actually drop... because its not the machine that can't handle it... it's the engine.

The people making comments that our machines stink clearly have not played it for themselves or are just being jerks.

I don't know why there isn't more forum rage over this....

my computer i use can play undine battlezone at max graphics no problem. however just being at ESD, if someone uses the detection grid, my system lags out to hell. this skill causes way to many particle effects. surely they could tone it down. with how old this skill is, it could use a revamp anyway. seems like a good time to tweak its visual appearances to not max out the graphics abilities of most computers. this has been a long time problem, and i think people use it in missions more to troll then because it helps. if you really need that tiny bit of accuracy, you need to reinvest your traits and weapons. honestly there are so many better consoles to have then that console, i have no idea why people slot it other then to lag out team mates.

i shouldnt need to upgrade my computer because a singular console that's years old and out-dated is once in a blue moon used near me.

I am running an Alienware Aurora, last years model. Normally it can support two screens without issue. perhaps I did something wrong, regardless the post was made in jest.

Ok then - the post was meant as humor. In future, I will add a humour tag of some sort for the people with poor eyesight, or who think that Sean Hannity is today's version of Walter Cronkite.

In any case - I apologize to those who took offense to either 1.) this was a vent post or 2.) this enables griefers.

    All the best.

Now where did I put that damn console....

Actually, I've got a pretty good graphics card in my box. GeForce 630M. And it worked just fine until season 9 dropped, and then suddenly I'm getting massive slowdowns and easily two thirds or more of my shots aren't rendering in something as uncomplicated as Fleet Alert.

If your post was made in jest then I did not catch that the first time through. My apologies. The rest is because in your OP you state:
My entire screen a spiderweb of rendering useless blue lines. I know YOU think the Planet Killers use cloaking technology. BUT THEY DONT.

So I wanted to clear up that stealth sight is just one of the two buffs you get, the main one being a team sensors buff. Just because you post a link to it doesn't leave me with the impression that you know what the device does, particularly when your text rebuffs that you don't.
