Well folks, as I said regarding Season 9's release, 2 months ago, that if it didn't "WOW" me in the first 30 seconds after log on, that I'd leave for good, the time has come to make good on that promise.

After logging in to Season 9 for the first time today, the first thing I get is a popup telling me my graphics have been reset to defaults. I'm not sure where Craptic got the notion that I bestowed upon them, the authority, and liberty, to mess with my machine's graphic settings. STRIKE ONE!

Then I get a popup from some captain I've never seen before, telling me, a Vice Admiral, to take my ship and go investigate Undine shennagans in the Burgus sector. Better check your collar, Skip, I'm not sure you understand the hierarchy that's in place here at Starfleet. Not to mention I've been there, done that. TWO!

Then another popup informing me the Undine have killed all the Voth, and they are running the Dyson Sphere invasion zone now. Great job on Cryptic's part. They can't even be bothered to make environments to fight their latest bad guys in! They'll just re-use all the old Voth environments, and then brag about it as new content. I guess all the "environmental artists", were to busy re-doing old maps, to make anything new. Not to mention I didn't go anywhere near the utter rubbish that was the Dyson sphere zone when the stupid, Voyager dinosaurs were running it. THREE! GRAB SOME WOOD, ACE!

It's painfully, apparent now, that Cryptic is just a ship of fools that can't get out of they're own way, much less do anything, right. I have tried to encourage them to make a better product, and in so doing, help them build their own self-esteem, but it has fallen on deaf ears. I'm sure they will become retaliatory, and ban me from their game for the third, and final time, anyway.

So, that's it. I quit.

Gosh, I have been gone over a week and come back to an "I quit" thread. Stupid vacation! :)

Obligatory, can I have your stuff? :D
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Ooh, ooh, I know this one! They got the notion from the Terms of Service you, and everyone else, agreed to as part and parcel of downloading and installing the game. They got the notion from you having specifically given them that authority and liberty with your full blessing and permission. You might have noticed that they didn't really mess with the settings "on your machine," but only the ones on their software.

But I'd still be glad to take any of your stuff you want to pass along before you go. :D

Ow, i dont see any "good" explanation that it will make you quit the game. If you tell me, that you are tired of all the fails of the game, i will understand it, but you didnt say anything about that, or the bugs, or the stupid undine lockboxes.. i mean.. seriously?

Cryptic already said that the graphic settings will be reset and you need to change em again. More than that, everything else is for the season 9. But usually, someone will quit because the game is really messed up, not becasue they dont like to have 3 new popup windows when he do login after a few days.

Its not stuppied, pay not attention to the people who get on here to take advantage of the opportunity to insult someone. who are they anyway and who cares. I think your actions are justified by your standards. I myself hate season 9, and its for reasons you never mentioned. Good job by the way for sticking to your words.

In a military hierarchy, rank is not always the deciding factor who gives orders. Sometimes the position matters, too. Without such measures, it would for example be very difficult for a military guard to do his job - he's just some low level Enlisted guy, but he still has to check everyone's credentials, even if it's a commissioned officer, and he can deny entry to anyone.

    Authority != Rank

Also, I've heard god kills a puppy every time someone asks "Can I get your stuff", so... "Can I get your stuff"?

Could you join me fleet, spend your remaining Zen and Dil on masterkeys, and drop everything you have left in the fleet bank?

    Cool. Thanks.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

They changed some graphics setting because some people asked for it. Since there is no way to know if you would use them or not, they had to reset it. Also to avoid bugs. You don't want a black screen upon logging and have to re-dl the game, do you ?
I know it's a pain to spend about 30s reseting the graphics settings the way it was. But I'm sure you can handle that.
And BTW that's the GAME graphic settings, not your machine. And Cryptic can do anything they want with that.
TWO!
The old borg/undines story arc was revamped. Meaning the old missions were deleted, and new missions were added to replace them. Since you didn't disabled the option not to be bothered by starfleet everytime you had a new storyline mission, you have the popup. The same way you had popup for the next mission when you were playing the storyline. Because that's exactly what is happening for the game, the storyline is incomplete, and you receive the next "step".
The Voth battlezone is still there. Undine battlezone is in another sphere, which look quite similar, on that we agree.
It's painfully, apparent now, that Cryptic is just a ship of fools that can't get out of they're own way, much less do anything, right. As a unique snowflakes, compared to us maggots, I'm sure Cryptic will be saddened to hear that. As I'm sure your support was invaluable to them.
I have my problems with Cryptic, lots of thing they do that I disapprove. But what you are saying is just wrong. You are ranting against things that are not real.

Rant against the undine box, the undine annoying fluidic rifts, the new repgrind, the locked to risa bikinis, whatever, at least it makes sense, even if I may disagree with it.
But you are just wrong. And I can't agree or disagree, because your issue are not even real.

You are leaving the game and it doesn't matter if your reasons are valid or not. But don't come ranting when you are simply wrong.

He did write "I quit" at the end. All that remains to be seen is if he truly has the courage of his convictions.

Can I have your stuff. Since you will no longer need it. I can make use of it.

I saw the graphics was changed as well. That was great news, as it made me make adjustments. Truth it made my visuals a great deal better. I'm seeing detail and colors like never before. Cause I never bothered to look into that. I just used what the game offered.

The tailor is great. I spent a good bit of my time playing with my looks. The new faces, adding armor, etc. Now my guys all have their "own" looks.

Rep grind is far better. I'm already made great progress with Dyson and Romulas Reps. Where before it would take me a few times playing to get that far. Plus now I don't have to spent resources to unlock store stuff. Now it just have it listed soon as you hit a tier. The Rep has been greatly improved.

New lock box is good as well. Cryptic made some $, cause someone had to open them. To get the stuff for the exchange. I bought 2 new ships, and several ground weapons.

I hadn't tried the new rep, or missions yet. As my guys are working on missions or Reps. So soon as they get freed up from that, I will check out the new ESD and missions.

I hope not.. the new ESD is horrible, yes its beautiful, but IT IS NOT THE INTERIOR OF A SPACE STATION. It looks like a bar, sorry its a fact. And the Surface Tension VC is a pain. The new ESD was unnecesary, and the Surface Tension mission is just so bad made that it is embarrasing to play it.

Surface Tension bad? Have you even played it? I'm starting to think you are just disdaining every single thing added to the game simply because you have some kind of vendetta against Cryptic.

Show me the rule where the interior of a space station in the moderately distant future can't look like a bar... or a mall, as I thought when I went there.

I actually like S9 - the only thing I am hating big time is the graphics reset. I had a perfectly working graphics Wine version of STO on MAC (since the MAC version of STO is giving me flickering textures that is not watchable without getting ill after a while) that enabled me to move freely with still good graphics. Now I had to lower graphics settings to be able to move on ESD etc + the Wine is being a pain in the *** since it crashes and give me errors when starting launcher and during in game. This is my second.. actually third + time I reinstall Wine. This is NOT fun.. and I quite upset about this.
