About the new STFs... *possible spoilers*

So yeah, the new traits are kinda nifty when you think about the possibilities with the Loadouts feature... No more need to really have separate toons for PvE/PvP. Of course... They'll be making money off all the extra Loadout slots we buy... But whatevs. And the new EP is freaking awesome, if not a tad glitchy... Had several issues with the Tuvok/Cooper scene and Shon was sitting on the floor on his bridge once. But overall I'm happy with these two things.

but...

Those Undine STFs are ridonkulous... No timer? No way to fail? What's the point? Where's the risk? Where's the perk for making the optional and completing the map? Where is the proper enticement to make Captains want to excel so they can faceroll the "hardest" map in the game... Someone made the comment it's now Care Bear STO where everyone's a winner and Elite is dumbed down to point you can do the Borg space ones in an NX class ship.

And as for the ground STFs... Nobody does the Borg ones anymore... It's hard to find a fulll 5 man team who is capable. KGE and CGE are pretty easy, as long as people know the plan. IGE is a nightmare if people don't know what they're doing. I think it's been nearly 2yrs since I did Breaking the Planet... Mine trap I've managed to get into here and there... The Big Dig I can usually get in when it's up for the Daily Bonus. But Undine Infiltration... How does that even qualify as an STF? Interrogating and shooting civilians... Sounds more like a story line episode to me. And that fire extinguisher optional needs to go, I shouldn't have to slot a new item for a bonus in an STF mid-combat. And again... No way to lose... Where's the challenge? I really like ground, and it's infuriating that the only things I can regularly get into and complete are Incursion and Invasion.

It's good to have options, and that we're still getting new content.. But it's too easy, there's no point, the rewards don't match the time and effort and the enemies/maps don't match our skill levels. AND THEN... I discovered today that they took the dil reward out of Borg Sector Alerts. Seriously? There was almost no reason to do them anymore... I literally just solo'd one in Romulan space in my Ar'kif, took me 8min total. I was slacking, what can I say... I think an 8 min solo'd red alert is worth 450dil ore... So now what's the point?

Anyway, these are my thoughts as someone who's been playing for over 2yrs and gone from noob to having 4 Elite Captains fully loaded out with End Game Gear. I think they've made some steps in the right direction... But it seems for every thing they do right they do 2 things wrong. Stop messing with our abilities to grind Dil/EC if you want us to keep playing your grind fest called STO... And some of us have spent years working on developing our toons and skills and need something to challenge us, adding a timer or taking one away does not constitute a challenge. I remember when the borg used to gives us a run for our money and you had to use tactics and plans to beat the Elite STFs... Bring that back.

    You'll also note that the Undine Mark rewards are significantly lower than the Omega Mark rewards from older STFs.

    Then the time frame and cooldown of said STFs needs to reflect that... I shouldn't be stuck to a 15min timer for 30 marks and some TRIBBLE drops... Not worth the time. Why do you think nobody does Blockade anymore? I actually like that one but you're stuck to a timer and the spawns are stupid slow. Clearly I'll be forced to do them to complete my Reputation... All elebentybillion of them we have now...

    I don't understand a couple of things about Undine Assault.

    Sometimes I play it and get close to 100 marks. Other times it's like 25. I can't decide if that's due to a timer or the number of extra rifts scanned outside the lanes.

    Every time I go to the circle on the mini-map where there is an extra rift, I don't see it or a way to close it.

    So, I'm still scratching my head about rewards for this mission after playing it 4 or 5 times.

    But, yeah, compared to Borg space missions, they are long, hard, and not very rewarding, unless I'm missing something about the mechanics of it.

    Honestly I've only done Undine Infiltration twice, and the others once... I found the ground one boring and the fire extinguisher optional idiotic and annoying... Wasn't really happy with shooting civvies either but I get the context/issues and why that would happen. A little heavy for a quick STF.

    Undine Assault... I didn't get the "3 lanes" thing, or 3 starbases that close to each other... The command ship was too freaking slow... I did close one rift during my one run, it was similar to closing the rifts in the Mirror Event. As for Viscous Cycle... That stf has potential.. But again the payout doesn't match the time invested and there's no challenge b/c there's no "visible" timer. I'll prob run them a few more times so I can pick them apart a bit more, plus I'll need to get the marks for my rep, but other than that I don't see me ever doing these missions again. Why? Where's the payoff?
