Considering they went back and re-did a LOT of the early fed missions, them redoing more missions can only be a good thing.

Wish the borg season was a tad longer.

But when it changes the known story it irks me.
Should I start posting again after all this time?

I've played Assimilation about nine times since S9 launched.

    DEM KIT MODULES.

Good job? or is it the reward so good? :P

Well, Assimilation as a mission is much better than it's predecessor. The inside of the Cube actually looks like a Borg cube, and it's a bit less of a cluster**** when it comes to fighting.

As for the rewards, certain Kit Modules (Triage, Nanite Health Monitor, Exothermic Induction Field etc.) aren't available above Mk IX from the Dilithium or Fleet store, but since Assimilation awards a random VR Mk XI kit module, it's just been a case of parking my three Sci toons in Gamma Orionis and replaying it every thirty minutes until I get lucky and receive the one's i'm after. Better than paying 6ml on the exchange for them.

Well, im curious now about the interior of the cube. I always thought that mission was stupid because it was not like a cube interior. Honestly right now i am not so interested in the rewards, just to see if cryptic for once did something right.

Assimilation is a good example of a replayable story missions. It is fun and offers rare rewards. Since you never know what you get, it can keep players yearning for that last good item they want.

I would suggest you go in right now and start from the beginning of the borg arc. If it doesn't make you smile even a little bit, you're dead inside or not a fan of Star Trek.

I can be very pragmatic, and really hard in my commentaries, but when i see something is good, i say it. I am very dissapointed with cryptic (as so many people) in general, but that doesnt mean they do some things right by time to time. :o

I'll give you a hint: I had the urge to jump over the railing to explore the rest of the cube. :P (darn invisiwalls)

Break those invisiwalls and I'm sure your cat, Chuft, can leap down and explore.

I wouldn't advise it... You just end up fallin and falling... the whole thing as basically an elaborate matte painting. ;)

I was actually surprised they encased it in a cube shaped shell that seems to be to scale.

(explored the map a bit with demorecord) ;)

So in reality the Borg cube is just another of Coyote's elaborate traps that road runner turns on him and us?

A random kit module award? Holy smurf that's beautiful. I got Quick Fix on my only run-through of it. Guess I'm gonna have to make some more trips.

I did it twice. I got a Photon Grenade and a Rally Cry module. I don't remember what the first kit frame I got was but the second was truly lol-tastic. It was a frame that had 4 strategic slots, but it boosted grenades, which it only had one slot for!

This kind of reminds me of Borderlands. A lot of players played it over and over just to see what they got next. When there is random loot that you can get, even as a reward, it encourages multiple replays, just to try to keep getting one better than the last one. I do love this feature. It is better than going in and selecting a single reward, knowing it will be the same reward every time you finish the mission.

At least this adds some more Varity to the rewards system than it did before. I think this would be good to add to all of the missions in the episode arcs.
