Pretty Useless Group=PUG

So been noticing a huge amount of the PUG player group, cannot seem to comprehend anything besides shoot every enemy target there is.

This leads to a whole heck of a lot of STF failures, and clearly shows the major lack of support and teamwork.

To think that they cannot grasp the concept of such, or learn the actual objective, and various strategies goes to show the lack of brainpower on their part, and how badly they need be lead by the hand like some small child.

Simple reasoning should teach you when you are doing something wrong, but for a bunch they must lack this ability.

I mean common sense would tell you that shooting at the gate/generator/etc., and it isn't losing any HP that there must be something else need done, but no they keep on till either they get destroyed, and/or kill any chance for an optional to be completed.

Than you have those who cannot grasp the concept of leading enemies off, so your teammates can complete a part of the mission that involves interacting with something, and not taking any hits.

Heck most don't even lend a hand in this matter, they just continue to mindlessly attack enemies even though they will never stop coming.

Than there are those Troll moments, when someone comes in to either keep you from a completion, make it extremely hard as possible, or bring the weakest build and ship imaginable to do either or both.

Than you have Bot controlled player's.

You also have the all famous leeching player, or the fake AFK'er.

Don't get me wrong as I PUG everything, and have seen my fair share of decent to good player's, but the vast majority is need I say completely clueless, and/or idiotic.

PUG wrapped up pretty much in general for you all.

Well thanks for the rant about pugs which we know are pretty bad. Of course with all the MASSIVE power creep through rep/traits/fleet gear/stronger ships - they are no where near as bad as say 2 years ago.

Heck 2 years ago - 3/4 of the pugs were failing the optional on Infected space elite and maybe 30% people just left because it all went to hell.

I would love if Cryptic gave npc's player boff powers instead of just spamming stuff.

If Npc's could have Tac team, eng team, sci team, emerg power to shields/reverse shield polarity - then you would see some fun times:eek:

I ran ISE twice yesterday, pugged both games and won both, with the optional.

It's the more complicated ones where Pugs are an issue. Undine Assault, Mine Trap etc. Anywhere where you need communication and co-ordination and most randoms can't handle that.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

Lesson here is, NEVER pug any STF that is more complicated than "shoot everything".

/channel_join PublicEliteSTF for when you want a group that actually understands the point of the scenario.

That or roll Triezo's STB channel. Granted he tailors it more for what ships would be more cannon like. EX fed ships with phasers, quantums and photon torps.

But it's a well controlled group and it's fun.

I pug everything so I'm well used to seeing both sides of it. I think all of us played in pugs at some point and we were all new to the game at some point.

I'm guessing that with the new season there are lots if new players and many don't have optimised builds and haven't learnt the missions fully yet.

I have no problem with this and to be honest if I loose a match or optional every so often then that's good. It lets me spot any weakness in my build but it also reminds me that you can't win everything. I think some people playing sto have forgotten that failure does happen sometimes but it's not the end of the world when it does!

Now on the other hand, hax, leechers, afk'ers and anyone who actively tries to fail a march to spite everyone else. That lot can go to hell. Those types of players I really do gave a problem with. If you don't want to play properly or can't be bothered then don't ruin it for everyone else. I think these styles of play do most harm to newbie players as it shows them the ugly side of the game and could easily put them off.

I have had some really good pug games though, when the team just seems to click and everyone backs each other up.

Two years ago I can remember about half the CSN pugs I ran were losing the optional, and sometimes with multiple "guards". I'm glad the pugs have actually improved over the past year, it's been good for my blood pressure lol.

Oh and yesterday I saw an npc ship use hazard emitters for the first time that I can remember. Perhaps they've used this before and I just didn't notice, but I saw it this time :)

You can recognize good players in a pug match because they do use the chat sometimes.
Power creep doesnt have anything to do with a pug they just lack common sense. I m just saying because every time I play Starbase Incursion no one of my pug teammates knows what to do and they probably play that more times then me.
