Many people have been saying Cryptic will put a Borg Cube/Octahedron in a Borg Lockbox. This will not be happening and here's why.
Do to the massive size of a Borg Cube it will not become playable, at least not in a lockbox.
The most simple powers such as Evasive Maneuvers and others like it will cause the game to bug out severely, where did I learn this? When I was having a conversation with Tacofangs in game.
The only way possible to have a playable Cube would be to create a playable Borg Faction with all new powers, but that is years of work and planing.
If you have something to argue this, please be nice about it. :P
I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.
Borg Lockbox. It's going to happen. There is no doubt now. Expect it to drop either later this year or early next year.
The most we'll ever get from a Borg Lockbox is a probe and a sphere. However, something must be done so that players have a clear grasp on the orientation of their ship.

Actually, Tacofangs mentioned something about a Borg Sphere. XD

Almost big enough to be a second playable fraction? Liibbeerraatteedd Borg...
We already have Liberated Borg. We need Assimilated Booooooorg! Where the shield panels pops up when attacked and there is a constant stream of that out-of-focus voice over like we get on the Starbase PA announcements.

Taco doesn't make these decisions, and let's be honest here... does anyone really think Cryptic cares if stuff bugs out and looks weird? Or perhaps more accurately; does anyone really think Cryptic cares enough to put graphical glitches above getting people to gamble for a popular ship in a lockbox?
La la la...ship in a box, a ship in the box babe, it's a ship in a box, ooh ship in a box girl.
Anyway, the Undine ship from an RP point of view is just so out there. People can come up with creative ways for Cardassian ships, Ferengi, etc. but Undine? Imo, it's very long strech to make up a convincing story to fly and RP with one.
I definitely don't expect to see a cube, but I would not be surprised to see a Borg Sphere and Borg Diamond as lockbox and lobi ships.
And if anyone wants a lore explanation, it could always be on loan to starfleet from the Borg faction liberated from Unimatrix Zero. :P
That episode even proved that Borg ships don't need any kind of neural link to operate, and the Klingon Commander piloting the sphere was shouting verbal orders to other individuals in the command center.(not sure how the term "bridge" would apply to a borg ship.)

It'll be a sphere, followed by a hard vacuum as the Star Trek fans leave in disgust.

yes, it would take years of work, and from the last expansion, and the reskining of old content, we see just how much the devs do not like to work.. u know the cryptic motto, big profits for little investment..
and no, we will not see borg cubes in a lock box, I would however think we will see a sphere or probe.. there is no way they wont cash in on the cash cow that is putting a borg ship in a box..
Flying a borg ship makes more sense than flying a bioship.
"we captured an unlimited amount of bioships, got some shovels and shoveled out the goo that comprised it, we threw some support beams up and added some consoles so its TOTALLY flyable by anything now".
"we captured an unlimited amount of borg vessels, learned how to use them, and adapted some of our own tech to match, they are large in size so you will have to use a lot of manpower to get it flying around"

How would they get around the movement issues that I mention in my last post?
I still lean toward the playable fraction...where the Borg Lockbox, cause it will exist, will actually offer Assimilated versions of current ships. Basically a means of giving Feds access to the following:
of course there will be a borg lockbox.
s9 catered to "fresh level 50s", they just realized this game isnt appealing at all,
and it made them TRIBBLE over long time loyal players, 3 day players is where its at.
s9.5 will reduce reputation powers even more, cause reputations are unfair for level 1 players.
borgs been firing at voth in solanae dyson sphere already, we seen it.
cryptic is hellbent on destroying their franchise, borg boxes are inevitable.

what is the issue you are seeing with probes and spheres. they already use evasive and what not ingame...
spheres and probes are smaller, more menuverable. they would just have to make a way that you know which way your ship is facing at all times.. and to be brutaly honest, cryptic hasn't cared about changing the looks of canon things in the past (ie, the TRIBBLE looking deflector dish on the Miranda, and so on and so forth).
I personally would not want one, so I am not lobbying for it. but those two ships are more than duable in the near future..
im still really confused, I didn't say a cube would be simple.. I said the spheres and probe..
im really miffed as to where your hostility came from. im starting to think you misunderstood me or something..
Kudos to you for taking the high road there...it's not one that I travel myself much with that particular poster. Even when we agree, we're always arguing for some reason...lol.
Borg Sphere and a Probe would be the only thing that they could put in a Borg Lockbox. In fact that's probably something Cryptic will do. But I believe that would cancel the idea of a playable Borg Faction. It's not about if it makes sense it's about if it's going to break the game, and if you flagged down a Dev and ask him/her this question their answer would be the same as mine.
I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.

They ARE big in the Delta Quadrant....
No it's not.

I know that it doesn't make much sense but I always wanted to fly a Nicor so I'm not really mad. :P

Spheres/Cubes can change direction almost instantly - they don't have a turn rate like all other ships in the game.
How could you give them to players and not make them look stupid by adding an appropriate turn rate?
They also seem not to have much inertia either - they can pretty much stop on a dime.
There are just too many movement issues to make them playable.

Undine lockbox says otherwise.
I'd like to say that it was all in good humor, but after Undine Lockboxes, I'm afraid it's coming. Watered down Borg Ships, watered down Borg.
The Monsters of Wolf 359 are not what's coming. More like the Kittens of the Local Pet Store, but probably not as cute.
It'll be a sphere, followed by a hard vacuum as the Star Trek fans leave in disgust.

which one marks more sense to you?

Assimilated Carrier
Assimilated Battle Cruiser
Assimilated Raptor
Assimilated Raider
Cause that's how Cryptic rolls...

just proving my point about catering to people who dont know what they talk about.
no he was right, what cryptic calls factions, are merely a fraction of a faction, so they are indeed fractions.. lol...
haha funny stuff.
Romulans aren't a full faction. Heck, lol - they're not even a full fraction - they're a fractional fraction.
