Uh Vicious Cycle what happened?

iceeaglexiceeaglex Member Posts: 375 Arc User
So I don't want to be the tin hat guy here, but has anyone else noticed VC got crazy since the patch?

I've done it a few times with different characters before the patch, was a good STF, died once or twice.
This time, my whole team died about 10 times. Each.
This was mostly from 30k-50k crits. From their base ships.
Were those kind of crits there before?
If so, then hat off, but still, crazy high crits from their small craft.

Now that you mention it, I did find it peculiar that my 67k hull Galaxy X kept popping like a month old zit. Also, counters against the grav wells and snot balls that worked fine in the space zone seemed completely ineffective in VC. Something feels amiss...

My main runs a doffed aux2damp build and I played a VC Elite today and died 3 times. This build survives most vapes in PvP and never gets a scratch in other ESTFs. Not really sure what happened, maybe I was drawing all the aggro, who knows.

Also, the fluidic rifts seemed to last for a solid minute, not sure if that's normal. But with aux2damp (86 aux power) I was still being pulled pretty hard. APO seemed to be the only thing to actually totally break the holds, as it should.

I noticed that to. I was playing B.C. yesterday with no problems. Didn't even pop once with my tac oriented scimictar and today. Must have popped 10 times. I'm not awesome our anything like that but fairly decent pilot bit the one shouts of 45-50k was redonkulous. I think something got coded wrong.Perhaps

Brings back some awesome memories of the good-old days with Borg invisible torps that hit you for 100k or crazy Gate beam strikes for the same amount.

You would just fly along and BOOM! Respawn.

It sure does. Since they are happening here.
1 hit kill through shields and full armour.

Its all well and good to have teamwork, but damn, i have no idea how to defend against 1 shot kills.

My whole team has now been dying multiple times on the FIRST planet killer.

The FIRST times i did this, when i had no idea how to play it, this was easy. Done in a couple of minutes. Now somehow 5 people die all at once. Its crazy.

And also for the FIRST time, people are leaving. No one left in the first few days, now all the games have leavers.

    Just me? Maybe....

Just ran this on elite and got 1 shot 4 times in my Gal X lol. The rest of my team got blown out of the sky several times as well. We ended up finishing it, but man it was rough with all the 1 shots going on.

Sounds like the old thing with the STFs where they would patch something completely unrelated to damage and the Borg would gain a huge amount.

I can't say if anything has changed, I didn't play VCE before today (after patch) but there was a huge difference between what Elite Borg can do to my Eng piloted dps focussed Aux2Damp Excel (with around 88 eng and aux power and 90 shield power) and what Elite Undine can do, I don't consider myself to be a top end player, heck I don't even break the 15k dps mark but I know my ship well enough to solo tank elite tac cubes so I get the feeling something is off...

Thats why I'm not playing these anymore. Too much "creativity" of the game designers involved.

Yeah lol, the only thing "new" they did was the FE, the queues and the revamped borg episodes. Everything else, is pure TRIBBLE, unfortunately. They didnt even bother to change the aspect of the ground or space weapons.. lol. They just changed the colors and thats it... lol. But i must say, i already knew it. Since its the way cryptic works since time ago. So many time wasted for this?? well, a lot of people will always say "good job" but honestly, i dont think that what they did in the new season justifies the completely lack of interest of solving some really great fails of the game.

People kept complaining the game is too easy. There you go then...

I'm pretty sure the reputation abilities (it's loss) have relevance.

i saw this coming long before it was 1 day old on tribble. i did mention back then the fludic rifts are too strong and nothing was ever done about, cannon builds specifically are disadvantaged which i also mentioned. those knock back beams the 8472 are very annoying when enough of them are grouped and firing at you.

Bubbles aside, something is definitely amiss. Today i was suddenly taking huge damage from Undine in the space battlezone, numbers i've never seen before. Shields turned into paper and hull not far behind.

This maddeningly impossible 'Viscous Cycle' Elite STF caused me to rage against in-game pal I've known for nearly three years, the night before last.

Not having tried much of the new S9 content (had only done the FE, and after this incident, that hasn't changed), said pal invited me to a round of VC Elite. I happily accepted and hustled on to ESD's ship repair fella and accepted my pal's team invite.

In all my years of gaming (since the early '80s no less, when we all had Ataris and Commodore Vic-20s), I have never seen a more spectacularly horrendous clusterfrak!

My ship popped more times than I could count. Everyone else's ships popped every bit as frequently. At that point, I thought my in-game pal had trolled me and I rage-messaged a whole lotta nastiness his way by the third or fourth respawn. He swore up and down that that run had been his first as well and had no idea what a clusterfrak it would be.

To add insult to injury, everyone else promptly left the STF. Though, to their credit, they did so after perhaps the 8th to 10th pop. Fearing an AFK Penalty, I stayed and kept ranting to my pal, whilst engaging Undine and Borg and repeatedly popping. My pal left first and assurred me that no AFK penalty had been incurred. That's when I gladly warped out of there.

'Viscous Cycle' Elite is severely broken and in dire need of fixing!

It's totally worth it, though ... you're getting like 19 marks at the end, don't waste your time in the Battlezone ... (sarcasm intended)

ermm... i absolutely think it's still too easy! i finished ca. 5 times yesterday and today on 3 toons and died like twice in whole... it's kinda easy with at least 2 proper builds in there and cpts knowing what they're doin (i don't say u guys do not know!).

on certain ships i also still can dish out some healing for my team, on a tac. btw: i don't a2b.

which the whole point in the thread. no about setups.

More like 90+ combined with the daily bonus. Regular drop is, i think, between 40-55.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Hmm. I felt a bit explody today in a Tholian Red Alert - in my Engineering Cruiser, which would fly beam-fire-at-will circles through the Mirror Event (non-Elite) without any issues. Made me wonder if there is something that accidentally increases the difficulty level the NPCs "play" at?

Combined with the daily bonus everything drops like 90 (55+X) ... the regular PUG gets you 20-30 Marks while 30min of Battlezone with the same PUG will give you 100-200 WITHOUT the Daily Bonus ...

btw : If you're in the Battlezone you'll get the daily 55 for capturing ONE Point (~ FAW for 1-2 minutes)

I'm all for challenging content, but please get the rewards right ... Mark-wise everything, but the Battlezone is a horrible waste of time right now ... not a surprise though, was the exact same thing with the Dyson Rep ...

the last three borg runs I've done have actually been far easier than they used to be, for me.

all 3 were done on elite, and I think I died maybe twice? before the update, I'd die multiple times per run.

flying a prometheus class with fleet issue hardware(the stuff it costs an obscene amount of dilithium just to get).

I havent noticed much difference in it before and after the patch. I've popped once or twice in a match, but it's more often from concentrated fire and the rofl cannon the optional planet killer spews out.

As for the marks, its between 30 - 55, depending on how well you do.

This. On it's own, Viscous cycle is not lucrative and can be pretty difficult.

When compared to the battlezone, however, the ESTF is an utter waste of time. Battlezone for marks. If you want to do a new ESTF, do the ground one, it's pretty fun.

My fleet team played Vicious Cycle. Holy TRIBBLE. Between the 10k to 20k torpedos, and the giant 50k+ from the planet killer. How the heck you beat the thing? It like you getting blasted 50k+ every six seconds.

Now, if someone says teamwork. BS. Teamwork is fine and heck we'll figure out how to beat it. The incentive isn't high enougth to play it. So I don't think we'll be playing it much.

im assuming this must be elite VC, normal VC i didnt die not even once. guess il try it out, find out what the hullabaloo is all about.

Edit: ran VC elite first time out, didnt die once but then again i was thinking more on the side of caution then outright aggression. two of my teammates however did die once, that was more to being too aggressive with their targets like the vila's and nicors.

We was playing it in elite mode. The only mode we play.

Love to hear other people feedback. I think the elite mode of Vicious Cyle is manageable with the older reputation system not the new one. You'll survive long enougth to coordinate unless you teamspeak.

New Rep and Vicious Cycle - Better have a lot of minior and maajor components to fix ship!
