Was happy with the changes to the uniform/costume process until...

... I figured out you have to burn a costume slot to get the visuals for the reputation armors.

As much as I approve the change in fed characters to be in uniform like Klingon and Romulan characters instead of the armor, I do not like the fact that the reputation armors; Omega, KHG, MACO, and Dyson are not visible unless you burn a costume slot and unlock the costume. I have to admit, one of my great incentives for grinding the Omega task force originally was seeing people in the MACO armor and wanting a set.

In my opinion, reputation armor should be treated like EVA suits; the visuals are always on if equipped if we can't have an option to enable/disable visuals.

They removed the "disable visuals" option. I looked before posting. Pre-patch I had a character who had just earned the MACO adapted armor. Post-patch, armor is not visible. I had not un-equipped it.

In fact, I just re-confirmed what I said by checking the Federation character I mentioned in my first post and a Klingon who had the Mk XI KHG armor which is the first set with visuals. I unequipped and equipped the armor on both and the visuals did not change. There is no "disable visuals" option on the armor. Strangely enough, the option is still there for the kit.

Yeah they disable that option but still, it is the same procedure than before... the only thing that changes is that you actually are dressing your toon with the maco armor.. and you need to go to a taylor... more than that..

As I said, you have to burn a costume/uniform slot for the visuals, unless using that armor set visuals does not actually cost you a slot. If that is the case, I can live with it. If you do lose a slot, that is what I am not happy about since those aren't necessarily free.

But they always been like that, the only difference now is you can now dress your BO in MACO/OMEGA

The change is nice and all, except when it's applied to the KDF Marauder Bridge officer. I had mine in the full Adapted Klingon Honor Guard gear and it had the visuals. Now she looks like a freaking peasant again. They still haven't fixed it so you can change the Marauder boff's appearance, nor outfit. You can to a degree fedside with the Diplomacy boff, but KDF side has 0 options. The only respite was to throw on one of set armors on them. Now you can do NOTHING to alter their appearance. Rank 4 marauding and your new boff looks like a farmer.

The embassy Romulan boffs still look like refugees, too. They should at least be wearing the Republic uniform or something.

On the plus side: You can now use Omega/MACO/etc costumes on your Boffs. I just finished kitting out my ground team with armor sans helmets, so I can tell them all apart.

You would think that with the changes to how outfits work in the tailor with boffs that they would have fixed that, or at the very least made it so they were like any other boff and you would be able to freely modify their appearance.

I do not see what the issue with allowing you to modify their appearance is. They are now a part of your crew, so they should be able to wear the uniforms that your other crew members do. It's not like they are some kind of canon character or something.

Any chance of a 'make all my boffs have same outfit as me' button?

You can save and load tailor clothing sets. I saved Omega, MACO, and Hirogen armor sets in 'enable visuals' color schemes because I saw they disabled this option when I was on tribble.

I suppose I could share if anybody's interested.

Agreed. They should have the ability to switch costumes on the fly like our captains can.

Costume slots for boffs would be nice. I'd like to be able to switch from TNG uniforms to Omega when on ground missions.

Meaning more sales of costume slots, meaning the rep armor/costume revamp is Working as Intended. :P

    Beside the point.

The fact of the matter is that prior to the change in season nine, you had the option of using the armor's "base" appearance simply by equipping it. Taking advantage of the costume unlock, which burns up a costume slot, was purely optional.

Now, costume slots are a requirement for armor visuals, both for reputation AND standard body armor. Which, of course, is a bunch of bulls**t. It's nothing more than an effort to sell more costume slots in the C-Store.

If they wanted to add customization to standard armor, they should have implemented it in a similar fashion as the rep armor options (pre-season nine). Keeping the toggle for the base appearance, while offering the customization option in the tailor. The old system worked perfectly fine. There was no real need to completely remove it.

While being able to customize reputation armor for bridge officers is nice and all, it isn't enough to offset losing previous method, which was more player friendly and efficient.

From what I've seen costumes can be altered for free now. I don't know if it will stick.

I don't know either. Would be a nice consolation if they leave out the tailor's EC "fee" for good.

By design. All tailor functions (player and ship) are free. Was in the patch notes.

It would be wouldn't it? It's not something they needed to do, but it would be nice all the same.

What's with the "burn" costume slots thing? Ummm, didn't we all get "free" extra costume slots?

All of my toons (those in a Fleet) have 5 costume slots now, before they only had 3 ...

Well I am glad you like it but now I have to play around in the tailor to get my away team to look the way I want or put up with the broken immersion.

It also appears that the patch deleted the majority of my saved Outifts I used to load in and out of my toons and it depresses me That if I want them back I have to play dress up doll over again.

I don't see why they needed to disable the Armor and Equipment visuals to give folks the tailoring options they wanted. I would be happy if I could equip Reputation armors on my Boffs and then just disable te visuals if I wanted to see their tailored uniforms.

I can understand if they wanted to disable the Non-epic armors but Omega and Maco etc should still have the optional visual effects IMHO

Ouch. Yeah, I see your side of the story now. Well, I for one don't mind playing around with uniforms-it gives me more color options and stuff. But for Boff-we just need BOFF costume slots. That would fix a lot.

This 100%. I want boff costume slots, and until then I'd like the option to enable visuals for the epic armour back.

I have a Jem'Hadar Uniform MK 12, it used to allow me to toggle visuals for it, unlike the MK 11... now with this newest season update, I can't the visuals on any version... and it is not selectable in the Tailor...

Did Cryptic decide to take those uniform visuals away?
