So, I'm being told by a member of my fleet that the set bonus given from the two parts of the Assimilated Borg set has been "nerfed" and the hull repair rate has been significantly reduced. As he puts it, the Assimilated Borg Set is garbage now and not worth the effort in acquiring through the Omega Rep system.
I don't know if this is true or not. I certainly notice a difference, but I figure that has something to do with the fact that we can now only run 4 space traits. I can't find anything in the patch notes about it, so does anyone out there know if this reduction is true, and where can I find an official posting about it if it is true?
I have my doubts because this particular fleetmate has been known to sling the bullcrap about.
I believe the Borg set nerf is listed in one of the Tribble threads a few weeks before season 9 was scheduled to launch. PWE doesn't care if it's no longer worth obtaining since most players have been using this set for quite some time. Consider it their way to give you a reason to grind for something else. :P

It has been nerfed, but I doubt it's garbage, since it's still a big hull heal you get for almost free.
The change was that ships basically were double dipping a benefit from their hull size. What I believe has been formulated a bit misleading by the devs is that everyone benefitted from that, but ships with inherently high hull (cruisers for example) benefitted more than those with a low hull (science vessels or Bird of Preys for example).
The developers stumbled upon this when they tried to fix the tooltips so they showed the actual amount of healing you would recieve.
Statistics from PvP matches* showed that the Borg Hull Proc made out a significant portion (something from 30-40 %) of the hull heals that players recieved. Which means it was probably plain OP, because it means it rivaled the combined healing of Hazard Emitters, Engineering Team and Auxilliary to Structural Integrity.
*) It wasn't a PvP specific issue, but we - the players - happen to have a large collection of PvP match combag logs to run these analysis on, we don't have such a collection for PvE content. Maybe someone should build one? Of course ,the devs should have these themselves.)

LOL, thats a problem, since A LOT of people are not doing the undine reputation. So, if they think doing this will people to force to do the undine reputation.. thats a bad idea lol. Of course i will never touch the undine reputation for now. I dont have plans to do so.
But nefing a set like MACO's ... erm.. lol. No comments. They are the Borg for god sake, the hull repairing skills is almost one of the only things really iconics and it is worthy lol. I guess, since the Undine already have hull regeneration, they needed to nerf something similiar in other reputation to keep the undine set worthy.

PVP is dead, for god sake, stop talking about pvp in the posts. Seriously. Always trying to compare pvp with pve.. lol. Maybe 8% of the player base is playing pvp right now. If they someday fix pvp, we can talk and compare, but now its pointless. Just focus on pve, plz. :P
I thought it was only "nerfed" for ships with high hull HP. I don't remember where, but another thread on this when it was on tribble said it's still a great set and remains pretty much the same on escorts and other lower health ships.
Edit: I just reread mustrum's post which hits the nail on the head.
Resolved an issue that was allowing the healing from this ability to scale disproportionately well on starships with high max Hull.
Updated the tooltips to reflect the actual functionality of this proc.

I am so very very sick of pvp being the sole reason that pve players receive most of these nerfs.. there should be a way to limit these items in pvp maps, and leave them be for those of us who do not participate in pvp.
The borg set still heal for ~1500hp/s on my escort (1300 and something), as I've seen a few moment ago. That's 2 HE I, for free. It's still awesome, and by far, one of the best space set bonus.
I use the borg set. It seems the same as ever. I have an insane shield regen rate. I was traited 3 defense 1 offense. Now I'm 3 offense 1 defense. Don't note any loss of durability.
It would take a lot to get me out of my borg set. Maybe an alcoholic beverage?

everytime we get a nerf, it is because of pvp..
And pvp is a really poor played part of the game and its broken.. lol. But when cryptic do things with reason?
