Compensation Owed...

senatorvreenaksenatorvreenak Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Sooo.... you removed the Trait respec tokens from the Zen store some weeks ago, but that does not mean those of us who had a load of them actually spent ours.
Trait Respec tokens that could be purchased with Zen, a currency that primarily enters the game through the spending of real money.

And now they appear to be ALL gone, and were left with nothing in its place...

Am I the only one here that feels fair compensation for this loss is in order here?

Open a ticket with Customer support, my fleet leader got 2000 Zen out of it, and he didn't even need to make a thread

Wait, you're just now finding out about the Trait Respec tokens being made obsolete? you didn't read the Dev blog post that detailed that Trait Respec tokens were being phased out of the game, it seems.

When I talk about Compensation being owned, I am not just talking about me personally, but about everyone who has been affected by this update, as I doubt I am far from the only one who had unspent tokens that just went up in smoke, tokens that had a value of 300 zen each.

I'm honestly surprised that Cryptic did not seem to have a plan in effect to automatically convert leftover tokens into "X" for everyone once Season 9 was released.
I would have thought that a change of this magnitude would have been dealt with in the same manner as when Free 2 Play went live and old currencies were phased out and converted into dilithium.

Maybe others opened a ticket and received compensation instead of complaining on a forum.

But.. But.. Then there wouldn't be whining... Or attention...

They may just fix the problem without a big show....

I honestly don't think a person is entitled to a refund for a token they bought 6 months or more ago, but within the last 60 days sure give them a refund if they ask.

A walmart employee has no right to barge into my home and take my expired cookies. I paid for them.

Thank you OP for bringing up this topic. I forgot I had respec tokens. I will have to open a ticket when I'm in game next.

Why wouldn't you eat the cookies before their expiration date? That's a bit odd, if you ask me.

Because I like stale cookies. And twinkies age well.

Perhaps try a thread title that relates to tokens rather than the clickbait you selected.

Remember, they had a sale that included retrait tokens less than a week after announcing that the tokens would be obsolete.

I actually realised the poor choice of title as soon as i posted, but unfortunately you can't edit titles on these forums.

It seems easist to just turn them into normal respecs in some way... Not sure which was more expensive, however. But whatever I think might be easy, may not be at all.

Apperantly i'm not having any luck whatsoever with Support, all they do is repeatedly referr me to that Trait Respec tokens are no longer needed.

Would be nice if some devs could take notice of this, because this part of the Trait system update has been a failure big time on their part.
Outright taking things away from players without giving anything whatsoever back in return is simply NOT ok.

    Thats stealing.

After watching snoggymack22 go through the same basic issues when the races he bought from the zen store were given away for free to the players when the game converted to ftp I don't think you're going to get anything out of this. They have the right to change the game any way they want at any time.

If you feel like you need to leave the game for a few months because of that, ok. Snoggymack22 did as well, and you can see he is back now.

    Hardly a relevant comparison.
Was the races he bought from the Zen store removed from his account?
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the answer is "no".

I hear mutterings about it, but never saw any confirmation that they were actually going to do anything about it.
Really hope they do as support seems to be less than cooperative.

I'm somewhat intrigued by your "phraseology" here, young man. Were these tokens you'd purchased? Or the tokens you received as you leveled up because you're gold or LTS? Just curious...

I actually never recieved more than a couple trait respec tokens as I have not leveled any characters since they introduced them.

Regardless, the method of acquisition isn't really relevant.
Be it earned, from lockboxes or bought with Zen, just taking things from players is plain wrong.

In S9 now they removed the ability to obtain Mk X and Mk XI reputation equipment sets, but they didn't take away the items from the people who had already obtained them.
When STO wen't Free 2 Play back in 2012 they did not simply just remove the multiple currencies people had earned when they phased them out, they converted it all into dilithium of comparable value.

Ok, I've never at anytime possessed one of these retrait tokens, so for me this debate is pretty much intellectual, but it seems to me that if you received a token in any way other then directly paying real world money, then you shouldn't really be entitled to any compensation.
