Cryptic successfully killed 5 man team PvP - end of story
You can tell this after a few hours? You tried queuing with a full team and it didn't pop? For how long?
I sure hope the premades aren't all so cowardly that they no longer queue at all for fear of facing another premade. That would be really sad. Then again, maybe people are just working on the new rep grind.
Everyone and their mother will just jump into these queues with their best ship which will usually end up being either a scimitar or some kind of vaper build. This will probably end this queue very soon. At least in the team queue there is a chance of encountering a semi-competent team that knows how to snoop and work together. This actually discourages kirks from entering the team queue, because they can expect to be countered and out-played.
I played once today to check it out and ran into a 4 man team. Their 5th guy was on our team and stayed out of the fight sitting there watching. It was an ok match though. I'll chalk it up to bad luck and try again after I check out all the new content.

I only had time to play a few games, but the team queue felt decently populated. Out of 5 or so games there was probably an average of a 2.5 min. wait. Not too bad, especially for KDF :cool: So far so good.
I tried the new PVP Que a little today, especially when I saw Minimax calling for more to Queue in the solo/2man Que.. But I think I ran into a more "Pug made" style of team with the builds I saw, like it was fairly even in the amount of "Heal Boats" I saw..
Also I know my build kinda, probably blows.. and I'm at the impasse of "I don't know if I can make a good build any more"..

That's good news. If it can remain fairly balanced like that long term, there probably won't ever be a need for a matchmaking system. Let's wait and see.
It wasn't really "Balanced" in more that it still felt like a Pugmade rofflestomp.
Personally speaking, I gave up on that futile endeavor. I don't build for a perfect build anymore, as far as I can tell there is no such thing anyway. I focus on accentuating what my ship can do, to the best of my abilities and available resources. Then I trust a teammate I happen to be with to cover the areas where I'm lacking. I think it's part of the sto pvp experience, that you have to accept the flagrant and potentially very crippling vulnerabilities of your designs so you can leave your shell and work with other people.
I don't try to build a perfect build, the builds I try to make are usually ones I try to have fun with, but lately I'm not even sure I could hazard traveling back into my Carrier builds that are sitting in moth balls. And I used to love my Carrier (I mean the ORIGNAL Carrier, the Vor'quv, not the Lockbox stuffs, or other things that pretend to be called a carrier)

I said this would happen. Some teams or fleets are going to do what ever it takes to win. This is one of the reason I said solo queuing would not fix PvP. PvP need a lot more attention than making a new queue. Leaver and afk penalties. There are other things also like penalties for logging out. Even the dilithium grinder kill me and never respawn. People wanted to stop pug stomping. This did not fix it. Premades/fleetmades form to prevent this type of play from happening on there team.

I hope Sheldon's experience is the exception, but cowards are cowards, and you should be able to beat such cowards in a 5v4 or 4v3 or w/e it was since you have your own team instead of random pugs. I mean seriously, how bad do you have to suck to have to have to cheat and fight an imbalanced match? I'm thinking really really bad! But hopefully it was not intentionally set up like that and that dude just randomly ran into his own fleet in the queue and was a pu$$y about it and didn't want to fight them.
What do you guys think? Success? Failure? Death of pvp as we know it lol. :P
I think this change will only help to start a match quickly...
It will not improve pvp neither promote pvp. The actual idea of pvp implemented in sto is too limited since it's only a challenge between 2 teams of 5 players and moreover without nice rewards (except dilithium if you have the daily missions).
I think also that a lot of fed pug will stop playing pvp since my experience as pug player (both kdf and fed) teach me that the averrage kdf pug is much better than the averrage fed pug.

I think the other thing people fail to realize in the plausibility of Pug stomping in the Solo/partner Queue for PVP, is that the PVP community is still relatively small. So we all pretty much know each other, or recognize when one of the more "Veteran" pvper is flying in a Queue, and we all know most of each others play styles usually when we're flying in the queues.
For example, you see Minimax, you know he's Vape/Alpha strike build.

the new ques are 100% awesome, had matches constantly all day for characters fed and kdf. quite a feat considering most are probably hard at work grinding pve.
seems to be some issues with team restriction though, or lack there of. right now, the duo que is only enforced by the honor system lol
other then that, you still cant cross faction team, the team ques will never reach their potential without this. maybe they need to make a new type of teaming, a 'pvp teaming', that can only access pvp content, and locks all pve content to anyone in the team. cross faction teams in any pve story missions and half the qued pve would probably break things, there needs to be a workaround like this.

Yeah they were definitely the same group. It was a very specific kind of fleet. Still, not a terrible match. If my team had been just a little stronger we would have won. Maybe even not just a man down.

Yes well, lets be honest, the main reason a lot of premades were even doing PvP was to stomp pugs for fun. The idea they'll actually have a challenge must send a chill down their spine.
Unless there's an incredibly unlucky match up, no more 2 Recluses, 2 Wells and a JHAS... Unlike prior to the queue change where almost every other match had a pug pitted against that sort of team.
New queues are 100 % awesome. Played KDF all day team queues popping every 5 mins instead of every hour. Loved beating up on the Fed cupcakes who used to hide in FvF!
Not impressed so far, in the mixed arena all I got was premades v's PUG's (us) and stomped, as for the 1v1 2v2 queue, well I very rarely 1v1 in any circumstances, so I just see that channel as a E-Peen massage queue.

i did premade all the day with my KDF fleet and it was realy fun ! finaly we have it after 2 year of waiting !!!

Also is it my imagination or does it seem like there's less spam being used? Makes me wonder how many premades were built specifically for it.
