[Possible Spoilers?]
During the introduction cutscene for the new Featured Episode, pay close attention to ships on the right that are'escorting' your own. One of them looks conspicuously like the Perpetual design for the Excalibur-class, less lovingly known as the 'butt dragger.' This is the same ship which has been seen floating around STO space as a destroyed hulk, but now it appears to have been redesigned for actual use...

EDIT - Here are a couple of screenshots:

Interesting indeed. I always liked that ship, it's a pitty it's not playable in STO yet.
You mean the original design right? because that desing is "new".
What do you mean?

The Avenger is ugly. Compared to this one, it's even uglier.
lolwut?? :P
Hopefully this could mean that it's possible that the ship is comming to the C-Store soon (TM).
Sorry about this then, you can send me your therapist's bill afterwards. :P
Behold, the Galaxy Lego Ship!
NOOOOOO WHY, WHY! lol actually i think it was a lego one just not the galaxy, i think it was a.... whats the science ship with the big football instead of a scaucer.
Nah...I think you drank a little to much blood wine...the butt dragger makes the Avenger look like a beauty queen! :P
I agree. In list of known STO designs (Perpetual or Cryptic) the top two ugly ships to me are 1. Legoprise. and 2. Perpetual's Excalibur, it looks like they put the wrong saucer on it. it reminds me of a bobble-head doll since its saucer is way out of proportion to the rest of its body.
Butt Dagger Class should be the official name.
Eh, beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say.
I am talking about this ->

That is the original design. Or at least, the Excalibur design that i discovered 8 years ago.

 Now that's ugly!
yes, and from what i remember statwise on it when i found it on memory beta (maybe?)... its like 5x the size of a sovereign class. fan designs rarely have any..... uniqueness? it's just a heavily modified sovereign that was enlarged.
that was a fan design. and in no way looks like the pic in the OP. the Sovereign class is the "mini me" version of the excalibur you linked to.
It certainly seems so.
That is a fan design that came out around the Turn of the Century, I think made in a 3D modelling forum. Either way, it became popular with the play-by-email groups and one of them made a mod based on that design for Bridge Commander.
I just hope the Perpetual design is put in the game, but not be called the Excalibur, maybe the Durandel.
Trust me: The excalibur team will never allow that ship to become a part of STO... Especially since they are making their own game.
Wrong. I even found that design in Drex files ages ago, if i remember right when the NEMESIS movie or even before time. It is not a "fan" design, its the only excalibur design that exists since years and years ago. Period. lol.
Even before bridge commander. So, if we are talking about the Excalibur, that will be it. If we are talking about other ship.. that i dunno.
EDIT - OP updated with screens!
Yeah, well I can't seem to get into the game for now, but I've seen the ship in another thread where another player posted a video of the instance because of a bug that showed his char instead of his ship.
The ship on that video really does look like Perpetual's Excalibur as you assumed. I really hope this means it could be comming in the C-Store, I find the design rather uniqe and interesting.
Definitely. That's where I pulled the screens from, too. I really hope we get a player version of the Excalibur; it's been a favorite of mine since Perpetual first released concept pictures.
Already an Excalibur in game. It's skin for the tier 2 cruiser for the feds. This completely invalidates having this ship in game. Request invalid, please try again. BEEEEEP!!!

Until Cryptic gives it a name, I'm going to call it what it was originally called in concept.
LMAO!!
You mean like there was an 'Avenger' before they made another ship and decided to call that one 'Avenger' retconning the name of the former into 'Sentinel'?
BEEEEP!!! Try again! :P
