If you do not accept the direction Cryptic is going with STO going far off based to canon. It's easy
1. Do not buy any master keys.
2. Do not unlock any the Undine lockboxes.
3. Stay away from cross-faction queues.
4. Do not use the new Undine reputation system.
5. Voice your voices on the forums.
6. to 10. would get this message closed...
Simply do not give Cryptic a dime.
NOTE
I'm not telling you to do this. This is what I am doing.
No. I think you are. I bet you like the little gimmicks Cryptic is dishing out.

Believe me...my wallet is closed, and I refuse to play any content in Season 9 (which I am going to start calling "The Cryptic TRIBBLE Job")

It is already too late. If players actually did this with the Red Christmas Presents, then Cryptic would have tried some different method to generate income. So it is the player's fault that Cryptic learned that Lockboxes are a viable method of generating income.
The apathetic majority that doesn't care about canon and only cares about new shinies is what keeps Cryptic making new lockboxes that defy canon. Nothing we do on the forums will affect the apathetic majority since most players never visit the forums or just go to see the patch notes for the Holodeck and Tribble and see what dev blog is out and who can blame them.
Normally I don't do the key lockbox thing but the op just convinced me to open as many boxes as I can. The greatest incentive to buy keys is knowing I am pissing off the 5 whiners that post on the forum obsessively.

This is actually the method to get back at vegetarian moral superiority. Say to the vegetarian that for every animal they don't eat, you will eat 3.

I was actually thinking of reigning back and saving this PWE game card I got for another ship, but, ah-ha...
...maybe I can use this to help out my Sci Gorn just a tad.

1. No, you don't tell other players how to play the game or do what they want with their own money.

Moral of the story: don't tell players how they have to follow your rules. It's not up to you to dictate how someone plays this game, and if you don't like it, then you can find something else to do.

You have no point. I made a general statement then thrown in some ways it could be done
If a player chooses to do any of it, I am not to blame. Cryptic is.

The flaw to this line of thinking is that whole money thing. You might like the way Cryptic was generating income before F2P... but the bottom line is that PWE bought Cryptic because they weren't making enough money back then.

Wrong, you're telling people what to do, since you didn't say this in your original, non-edited post:
If you do not accept the direction Cryptic is going with STO going far off based to canon. It's easy, this is what I am going to do:

Also, again, people have a mind of their own and they're free to do whatever they wish not only with their time, but also with their own money.

Nah, I don't like to gamble with them anymore
I am trying to figure out how to get lobi now though, because I don't like to gamble with the keys

Thanks for allowing me to play totally free.
As far as I'm concerned, they can do whatever they want to get people to throw money at them.
I wasn't going to comment but you went and quoted a dictionary:
CANNON and CANON are different words.

My character Tsin'xing
Anyone want marshmallows? It's about to get rather toasty.
My character Tsin'xing
. . .
...What?
I'll try to find some graham crackers and chocolate and we can have some s'mores!
