Hey guys, I were told that this game is still in beta after these years, and after playing the game I have realized that it does indeed need some tweaking from here and there, anybody know when the game is gonna be released as a full version?
Cheers!
Say the word, it saves the world. CUUCUUMBEER!"-With slight partigen with it." Proud member or DPS-800"-We kill dem mines with our scitter turrets."
The people saying that the game is still in beta are just being sarcastic. STO isn't actually in beta, it's just that all the bugs and what-not would lead you to believe otherwise.

They were hoping to end beta and launch it to compete directly with Elder Scrolls Online. But it seems they're holding back and are going to launch it to compete with Star Citizen instead.
I came up with a term called Paid Beta which is the period of time after launch and where the game should have been at launch. IMO, Legacy of Romulus was the end of Paid Beta IMO since it gave level 1-50 content to Klingons. Of course, Paid Beta is a completely subjective concept since everyone has a different idea of where the game should have been at launch.
I know this game has bugs, I just recently encountered one myself that denied me a level up ship. But seriously, if I have the choice of the team squashing bugs like that, or the team working on a new item set, I take the set pretty much every time.
I think people are overrating the importance of bugs. Especially if an old bug from several years ago is still around - you know what it tells you? The bug is probably not worth fixing anyway. You may call it lazy, but it's really a question of how valuable developer time is - time trying to fix this bug is time not spend on something else - what is a better use of a time? Fixing an issue that affects 25 % of the players in a minor way, or a new feature or content that 100 % of the players can use?
The game when released was certainly just a "minimum viable" product, as they like to call it. It may have been impossible to do it otherwise with contract dates, team size and money availabl, but it hurt the game. No doubt about that, I think. But they have improved the game a lot since then, and if you go back to look at old mission content and compare it to new one, you notice the difference.
Beta is in the end a tag you can apply to anything. It's not a term defined in law or science, at best, there might be some "good practices" around it. But it's not a clearly defined term, every development team determines itself what is alpha or beta.

Yes, but STO didn't even have full leveling content for one of its playable factions until its seventh story arc...
In all fairness, the Cardassian Faction still doesn't even have a TUTORIAL!
All updates come on Tuesdays.
STO exited beta many many years ago :P
