Odyssey Science Cruiser: U.S.S. Liberty (NX-942813-J)

Some PvPer's on the Organized PvP in-game chat channel once requested for me to post my build. Sorry, I don't remember who they were and for taking me so long but here it is. The full stats and build of my Science Odyssey. I'm kind of a one-trick-pony, meaning this is really the only ship I'm good at setting up and is the only ship I ever fly. Its role in PvP is as a team healer and area clearer (mines, pets, torps, etc.), it has modest DPS at around 8,000 DPS or so, and it can also do a bit of drain the way it's set up. Also for better vape defense I'd use all fleet neutroniums with the +hull boost or if your vape defense is good enough use +Hull-Repair, or even split between those two. The +turn consoles are a waste on that thing. It doesn't really matter how fast you can turn in a healboat cruiser with beam arrays.

    Wow, that was a lot more changes than I was originally thinking. I like that you added subspace jump console, but umm, there's some other stuff I'd change. I'd drop the assimilated module, worker bees and ams. In their place I'd add 2 fleet emitter arrays (1 shield repair and 1 hull repair). For the last console, hmmm, the reason I don't like AMS is cause he's in a slow cruiser and I'm just not a fan of that ability overall. It's cheesy when it works, but it is working less and less these days due to the global cd removal of team abilities. If you want to use a cheesy console black ball would be better cause it's harder to resist or just go with plasmonic leach since it will compliment the Polarons.

    ...and OP, you can pretty much keep the same doffs, although I'm sure there's something better than that Evasive doff, I just can't think of it right now. That Diplomat doff looks pretty sweet btw...never seen that one before.

    But trust me, this is a good heal build. Your allies will be thanking you for being on their team, and you can still clear spam with your faw2.

    Thanks for the advice. I do have Javonite though rarely need it unless in real tough matches. I'm looking into Deuterium. As for the armor with Hull regen and/or Hull+ (I have both) I've done extensive testing and under combat conditions the Hull regen armor just doesn't do much. Out of combat it looks great...in combat not much different with or without it. With the +turn I am able to maneuver out of harms way more and get a shield facing that's up. Plus it just helps to fire my 180* torps better and with the Maneuvering Command you don't slide and therefore no loss of Defense Bonus.

    As for fleet shields I have them all but am a huge fan if the Regen +Regen ones to get them back online as quickly as possible. The jury is still out on Polarize Hull but it has gotten me out of a lot of sticky situations.

    As for the Evasive Maneuvers Doff I use that in combination with Helmsman Trait and it just helps to fire off a get away or rear/broadside pattern in less time. Also I have several warp cores but just stuck with the Fleet one. I actually run with weapons power at 100+ and my shields are always running at least 118-120 with all the buffs at all times. My aux power fluctuates from 80-60 power.

    Running with so low sci basically requires to run 2pc MACO + Elite Fleet Deflector. You can run the Oddy with Lt. Cmdr Sci, and still have all important eng heals running. Only thing you lose is a second extend and rsp (complete junk skill), but you get hazard, tss and ST on global.

    If you want to keep with FAW, replace the A2SIF Doffs with Tac Team Doffs.

    I was thinking of setting something up similar as a secondary Boff load-out. The only problem is without the two FaW and TS constantly being spammed, DPS drops and while my main focus isn't DPS in team I feel it still helps to bring enemies down.

    I didn't want to turn it into a Zombie tank but one that can still contribute some fire power to the team. I will however build a second setup that will be just for heals and get rid of the Torp Spread and one FaW for whenever I'm teamed with a massive alpha strike team.

    I was thinking of setting something up similar as a secondary Boff load-out. The only problem is without the two FaW and TS constantly being spammed, DPS drops and while my main focus isn't DPS in team I feel it still helps to bring enemies down.

    I didn't want to turn it into a Zombie tank but one that can still contribute some fire power to the team. I will however build a second setup that will be just for heals and get rid of the Torp Spread and one FaW for whenever I'm teamed with a massive alpha strike team.

    I feel there is too many redundancy in your boff skills. You could eliminate some of it to allow you to slot higher tier heals or debuffs.

    Sure, happy to oblige : Switch Uni Lt. Comm station to Sci and Uni Ensign slot to Tact

    Lt. Comm Sci : ST 1, TSS 2, HE 3
    Lt. Sci : PH 1, PO 1
    Ens Tac : TS 1
    Lt. Tac : TT 1, FAW 2
    Comm Eng : EPTS 1, ES 1, ET 3, A2SIF 3

    New heals added or upgraded : ES 1, TSS 2 and HE 3

    PO will help you cycle these skills faster, reducing the need for multiple redundancy and no need in draining your Aux like A2B would.

    Further recommend you do the following equipment change:

    Elite Fleet deflector - 10 % CD reduction on all Sci skills
    Maco Mk XII engine & shield - 5 % CD reduction on everything

    Your Sci based skills will recycle very fast when PO is on. To deal with PO's lengthy CD, use Alpha Deception console when PO expires, it will reset all boff timers, including PO for you.

    Well no they of course have their use. I just wanted to be able to contribute as much DPS to the team while still providing adequate heals. Also the build serves well in PvE where just by myself playing the game. Take a cube down doesn't take 20 minutes of buzzing around.

    I wasn't knocking that type of build down I've been thinking of having a second load out like that for awhile, just again I also solo on my own in the game with this build and it is pretty effective on its own.

    I think your suppresison damage won't be high enough to make any difference. A good team needs a Tac with burst dmg to kill targets to be successful against another good team. FAW and TS is good for spam clearance, otherwise it serves no real purpose. Just aking... you pug with this build, or what you do? Btw. PVE isn't an argument, even the average pug can carry you through most ****. No reason to lower your effectiveness in PvP. Really a high-end healer needs to be full. Well, if you don't claim to be one, it's just a cruiser with some heals. I think i can say something about it, since i've flown several minmaxed heal builds in pvp. Sci Vessels are way better for hybrid roles (more in terms of Debuffing and HPS).

    I pug with this build as well but most times I'm teamed up with my fleet members. It's hard for me to get rid of FaW III and II since they are my most effective tactical DPS strikes according to ACT. I have been able to complete a Red Alert by myself with this build and it didn't take too long.

    When I first created this build that's what I was going for was a spam clearer with some drain ability and having some heals. I of course has the precise and strike traits as well as using Polarons/Leach/Flow Capacitor/Flow skill to 8 or 7. I will however create a new load out with just heals and try it out.
