I've never really invested anytime into the Foundry, could someone tell me if its any good. Do you get rewards or marks for doing it. What is it all about?

You get XP, dilithium and energy credits( Energy credits only on spotlight missions) The main purpose of the foundry is to provide the playerbase with player-created missions that expand the amount of content in-game. There are many stories far superior to anything Cryptic has made.

If you are lucky you get tips in the form of dilithium... If you are really lucky, you get a featured missions.

If you are normal, you get b*tching about minor spelling errors, and your mission is forgotten because of the featured missions.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

You get bonus dilithium for doing Featured Foundry Missions. These are the missions listed by default when you click the Foundry tab. The featured missions give you a bonus 1,440 dilithium on top of the normal dilithium award which I believe is based on how long players complete the mission on average. The minimum you get is 480 dilithium while the max is probably 960 dilithium at least that's based on the missions I have played so far. Therefore, when you play a featured mission you can get 1,920 or 2,400 dilithium in total depending on the how long the average time is to complete the mission. However, I could have sworn that one time when a played a mission I got 2,700 dilithium, but I could be wrong.

The 1,440 bonus dilithium is only given once every 20 hours. Therefore, if you do a 2nd featured mission in less than 20 hours that 2nd mission will only give you a 480 / 960 dilithium reward. You also get a small XP reward and I think 21K ECs.

When I am lazy and I want some quick dilithium for my KDF toon I do the featured mission called Vulture Wheel. It is very short and I can complete it in less than 15 minutes. There is a space battle against a single ship, an optional single ground battle against 4 or 5 enemies. The rest is some quick dialog to breeze through. I get my 1,920 dilithium, 21k ECs and some XP from that mission. It is so simplistic that I do not even know why it is considered a "Featured Foundry Mission".

Foundry missions vary in quality. Try reading the reviews, but ultimately you need to try them out yourself.
