A New Accord? What does it mean?

AC·CORD

əˈkôrd/

Verb

verb: accord; 3rd person present: accords; past tense: accorded; past participle: accorded; gerund or present participle: according

1. give or grant someone (power, status, or recognition). "the powers accorded to the head of state"

synonyms: give, grant, present, award, vouchsafe; confer on, bestow on, vest in, invest with "the national assembly accorded him more power"

antonyms: withhold

2. (of a concept or fact) be harmonious or consistent with.

synonyms: correspond to, agree with, match up with, concur with, be consistent with, harmonize with, be in harmony with, be compatible with, chime in with, be in tune with, correlate with, dovetail with; conform to; suit, fit, parallel, match;

informal: square with, jibe with "his views accorded with mine"

antonyms: disagree, contrast

Noun

noun: accord; plural noun: accords

1. an official agreement or treaty.

synonyms: pact, treaty, agreement, settlement, deal, entente, concordat, protocol, contract, convention

// End of Definition //

As you can see, the actual definition of the word accord can have more than one meaning. Which one of them (above) actually applies to Season 9?

I will put my opinion out and say it is the Undine, receiving new powers. Their new look and new ships speak to this.

What do you think? Did you know what the word accord meant? A lot of people go through life hearing words. They think they know what those words mean by the way they are used by a separate speaker, when in fact they have no idea what that specific words means.

Discuss!

Its pretty clear. Fed Klink war is over. The PvP ques are becoming one que... they are working on implementing cross faction teaming (not que auto teaming).

They mean accord as in new fed klink accord. As per normal it will be horribly written, terribly acted... and the only reason the mission(s) will exist is to introduce a new grind.

Most likely a featured episode explaining that they must all unite together to protect themselves from the Undine threat, which probably takes place after the Undine attack Qo'nos/Earth and / or some high ups revealed to be Undine.

dont use a dictionary to pick apart words like that, if you ever saw ds9 on tv and understood you would imediately know, khitomer accords which bound the federation and klingons into an alliance. since the first two failed, the "new accord" will obviously have to contain something so substantial that it ends this farcial border war.

Because PvP and stf missions will become one queue, there will be no need for Romulans to choose between Kdf and Fed at level 10 or at least lvl.50 (or higher) Romulans will not be allied to any faction.

Of course, New Accord will probably be about kdf-fed making peace but I can dream, right? :)

Ah, the Kitomer Accords. I should have remembered that! Thank you guys.

I'll have to go to Memory Alpha and read up. DS9 was very hard to watch for me. Voyager was even worse. I don't mean to offend fans of those shows. I just found them to be quite boring. I grew up watching TOS and the Feature Films that extended TOS into the theaters. And then there was a picture of a Klingon, in a Starfleet uniform, on the cover of the TV guide. What the hell is this, I asked aloud. It was Encounter at Farpoint that started TNG, and the rest is history.

You may want to keep trying with them, both series feel like TOS at times, more so than TNG. DS9 really picks up in series 4 and VOY has great and good episodes spread out through its run, rather like TOS.
Oh and VOY only has three characters, just like TOS :P.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

I think it will just be the renewed accord between the 3 playable factions, considering the cliffhanger from the last episode.
And probably the introduction to the new Khitomer Accord, between them (either in S9 or the next). It is obvious they are leaning toward this way, they plan to stop the war between fed/KDF, and Khitomer was the place for the first accord (same name). Also, it was used by the Romulan Republic to make an alliance with both side.
And since the war was started over the problem of Undines, seeing the fed fight with the KDF against them might even convince J'mpok "the tool" he should work with them instead of playing the Iconians game.

On a side note, the Honda jokes made me laugh harder than it should.

Xplosions... Lots of em... That's what it means.

OR, it could be the rather obvious coming end of the Fed/KDF war... I like #1 better though... Lots and lots of Xplosions.

This is much my expectation - I'm reading it as 'A New Khitomer accord' and that the new FE will bring an end to the war.

It means that Cryptic finally decided whether they wanted to **** or get off the pot vis-a-vis the Federation-Klingon War. They chose to get off the pot.
