Now maybe cryptic can see what's online or not, but yesterday I was online and on DS9 there where in every instance about 10 people on the station....
Men thats just creepy suck a big trading post and there is no one there even people of my fleet were not online....
Lately there aren't much folks around after waiting 20 mins to finally do an STF with three men because the other two decided to go ewald I quit.
I visit SWTOR now that was bussy an healty site for eyes I had fun I can tell you that, I know it's most ground combat but I had fun again...
What is it with the empty halls and stations these days is it because off that new system or is it because people just hang out in sto ??

There isn't any reason to keep going to DS9 anymore, since the whole Omega stuff has moved into the reputation user interface.
The only STF with long wait times I noticed was "Into the Hive". I figure that might be because it's too hard or takes too long?
Not sure if the ground STFs are just as bad, the first thing I usually do when using the PVE queues is blocking out Ground. (I suspect I am not the only one, it's been a problem since forever in STO that ground was just not that popular. About the only ground content I enjoyed was the Dyson Sphere War Zone.)

DS9 has been dead for some time now, folks are found either on ESD or The klingon place whos name I can never spell.

To be honest and looking at it from an efficiency standpoint... DS9 doesn't have much to offer. Dabo's about the only thing, and even that can be accomplished whenever via a D'kora invite or basic transwarp from your fleet starbase TW array.
K7's by far the most efficient federation starbase. The only thing it lacks is a bridge officer trainer, and with:
Ship Tailor
Ship selector
Bank
Mail
Exchange
Ship consumables vendor
Ship repair officer
all co-located in one single room, with a clothing tailor and ground consumables vendor across the way and a respec contact in the admiral's office... you're pretty much good to go and only need to visit ESD for Boff training.
There isn't any reason to keep going to DS9 anymore, since the whole Omega stuff has moved into the reputation user interface.

What this guy said.
When they removed the need for people to go to an Omega store for Borg rep gear the removed the need for a lot of people to need to be on DS9.
Some of my fleet mates and I do like to use DS9 as it has bank, mail, contraband turn in, tailor, consumables etc all conveniently close to each other so DS9 still has its selling points. Also no ESD-like zone chat and if it does get out of hand, well Second Wave the mission, can act as a private instance of DS9 with most amenities intact.
RE: Into the Hive. They're easy, just DPS DPS DPS and some co-ordination are needed for the big mobs they throw at you. Ground is probably the fastest ground STF there is but since most don't like ground and probably don't equip well enough for it, the last room there can be a slaughter house.
(Sigh) I keep offering Roxy a job as my first officer.I feel that being the DS-9 tourist information kiosk Commander ,is beneath her. I remember when she was the STF gear genie, who made admiral's dreams of awesome gear come true.
She keeps refusing, but I hope someday she will come around. Such a waste of one of my favorite NPCs.:(
Basically Cryptic has somehow managed to take JUST long enough between seasons that people get bored and go away for a month or two before next season...
But I supposed it's unavoidable in the end.
I am not saying it couldn be helped with a new mission every week or two... but...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

I had a few minutes last night - completed "The Trouble With Klingons" on Grunt, then flew back to DS9, where I will take the next mission, and as I approached the station, sector space was so crowded that if I weren't using autonavigation I'd have never seen the station itself.
Now maybe cryptic can see what's online or not, but yesterday I was online and on DS9 there where in every instance about 10 people on the station....
I was at DS9 yesterday. There wasn't a ton of people on the station. But outside of it prior to docking and right between it and Bajor in Beta Ursae, it had a bunch of people.

People is just tired of so many stupid things, thats all. Not everyone has neverending patience. And population will be droping day after day, its logical. Its not only that people are in tribble and now with the good weather people have a reason to finally stop playing STO and go out to enjoy the sun.
If it is true, I am sure it's more for the student population. They have finals, and graduations to consider. I figure I will have a few weekends lost to springtime yardwork myself.
If it is true, I am sure it's more for the student population. They have finals, and graduations to consider. I figure I will have a few weekends lost to springtime yardwork myself.
This happens every year though. Things will pick up come summer. They always do.
DS9 is a pointless social zone, has been for some time.
If you want busy hall ways and lots of people, go to ESD :P
And for us that have KDF Toons, Qonos First City (That is alive!) I was their today and thinking how nice it is as a social zone. However it would be beneficial to see it expanded further rather than fully rebuilt. KDF's "Qonos Spacedock" Should be rebuilt however. I also think the exterior model is a bit small for it being the KDF equivalent to Earth Spacedock.
Ever since Cryptic removed the Omega store from DS9, due to the repuatation system, It has been very quite. Also that map itself is about 1/2 scalle it should be and the infirmary isn't even finished or in use. I would rather DS9 get rebuilt to the correct scale with new textures and actually fully develop it to match what was in the show with some new area's as well. Having said all that it is rather detailed at the moment but it needs attention for a future season. Cryptic have gone off track on some things during evoloution of the game which has not helped the feel of the game.
Earth Spacedock will certainly feel busy when the new map is released however it won't be cosy by anymeans.
The Flotilla is a nice zone for Romulans. However I do agree that new romulus and new romulus command need expanding.
"Omega Class will prevail she cannot be defeated!"
I've been through this cycle before, and it always slows down a bit before a release.
This time however, it's more so. Active fleets where there were 10 regulars on most days is down to 1 or 2. The reason is there's nothing to do as a team anymore.
Not doom. But hey, something's not right.
I'm not suggesting we can't team, but rather the incentives are gone.
Prior to the Mirror Incursion we had hourlies. There was always one reason or another to help out a fleetie. Need XP? XP bonus hourlies. Better yet - lets run mirror to help you level. Need Fleet marks, mark bonus hourlies.
The updated Mirror, and the elimination of hourlies changed this ecosystem.
No bonus XP. No bonus on the hour.
Mirror came and suddenly it took 15-20 minutes to run the mission. Do you wait 20 minutes to join the next team? Oh wait, they don't need that now. STF's were at best 7 minutes long. Always another coming soon.
So teaming takes a hit.
Mirror also reintroduced the AFK player. Get the payout without playing. Not sure about you, but I don't want to work harder to carry a creep so he can get a reward. I do that already in the real world.
Now pugging sucks more than usual.
Add to this environment nothing new to build for as a fleet. We're complete on everything and stymied. When we have a project, we're all in it to build it.
So on a Sunday afternoon when we're 12+, only 1 or 2 people from the fleet are on.
People is just tired of so many stupid things, thats all. Not everyone has neverending patience. And population will be droping day after day, its logical. Its not only that people are in tribble and now with the good weather people have a reason to finally stop playing STO and go out to enjoy the sun.
I tend to agree... Not as agressively as you sometimes do, but yea.
With the repeating Ice-skating,Q-hunting,Gift-guessing,Mirror-killing,mission-replay-to-get-all-the-parts it does challenge your patience.
Thats kinda why I said a new mission every week or two...
Nothing as grand as a FE... I am thinking the weekly mission Starfleet or the Federation / KEF would send you on... Dosen't have to be long or deep, all it has to do is have meaning... And only be done once, and worthwhile a second time... Say like good XP rewards, or a small box of Choice-of-marks.
That would give people a reason to stay, and not feel a permanent grind.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Ive seen DS9 series first off and what we all know, like the ship interiors it's way to big.
For instance Quarks bar the stairs that take you to the next level well there are no stairs, mather a fact the bar is way to small compare it to the series.. only thing thats a bit right is the comand center... Beside all the doing here are my points for DS9 !!
1. Rescale the station
2. Make Quarks bar open to the rest off the station
3. Let Nagus Rom visit the station once and awhile
4. Put captain of DS9 in the office where sisko was !!
5. Put in holodecks and I mean working ones !!
6. Put some missions in the station you can do alone or with your fleet for fleet marks !!
7. Let the defiant dock and undock once and awhile just for show.
8. When you dock you won't beam in you come to the airlock and then enter the station
Well anyone got more points fill it in !!! Thats the least Cryptic can do to make some of us happy !!

Admiral Thrax
I really noticed a change in the game after the first dilithium nerf. Then the Tour the Universe Nerf. Then the Dailies nerf. Then the Hourly nerf. Then the nerf of the nerf. Now the nerf of the rep system.
Frankly the only thing I think can really bring old players back in large numbers is something Cryptic does not want to do: a 5 part bi-weekly episode series that really brings some lose ends of the story in line.
That and add back in a bare min an event every weekend - does not have to be a dilithium event every weekend - but they should bring back something every weekend. And perhaps a bonus day during the week that changes at random
People are just getting SICK of these "one off" grind events. One after another after another. People check back in and see - "oh look another short-term grind event that I have to do for 14 days in a row - pass!!"
Ive seen DS9 series first off and what we all know, like the ship interiors it's way to big.
No, it isn't. DS9, in STO, is probably too small even, compared to what we see in the show.
For instance Quarks bar the stairs that take you to the next level well there are no stairs, mather a fact the bar is way to small compare it to the series..
Wait, I thought you just argued DS9 was too big?!
Oh, and there are stairs in Quark's original bar (just not the ramp we have in-game; but I suppose that's more about game-mechanics).
