Heyo. I've read that with the new reputations, the Stores will be like the dyson one, all tiers unlock new items in the stores from the get go, no need to unlock the store, then unlock the marks of gear, etc... For those of us who have actually worked to get the stores on the other reps, like Omega and Romulan are possibly the best examples... Will there be any chance of getting at least a chunk of dilithium (refined or unrefined) back once this occurs?
Even if its just 50k, which is half of what it takes to outfit a ship with some of that gear (my ships use all Romulan-plasma weapons), would be great. Just so that those who unlocked the stores stuff to get it don't feel like they just wasted large quantities of dilithium to unlock the store, get the marks unlocked, then buy the weapons.
But I didn't get the EC or Marks back that I invested into very rare Mark X gear from the old exploration and PvP mark stores, either, when they raised the level cap to VA / 50.
Changes happen in games, and sometimes they invalidate older purchases.
However, the system is currently on the test servers, and there is a feedback forum for the topic of the reputation revamp there. It might not be a bad idea to post this feedback there, too. No guarantee that it will change anything, but if you want to make certain to be heard, post this there.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I'm not sure if anyone has taken stock of the player load lately....If you do however you will notice a substantial loss of players in a very short span of time... Tonight for instance there was not even 500 players total on all instances combined on ESB. a month or two ago there would be between 1000-2000 . these new rep changes already have a lot of long time players quitting and other who have said they wil "try" it out first before deciding....
I am sadly seeing a repeat here of City of Heroes ..
please don't just accept my word .. check locations aand look at the user numbers
User loads are way down and there is a very obvious reason.
This new Rep system even before it has been implemented has sent players away in droves and sadly... if it doesn't outright kill STO it will damage it badly to the point it will take a year or more to recover.

Hopefully others agree?
You need to look at things in context. You did the unlocks and bought/used the items in that context. Now the context will change. It will be different for those who start new. If you start a new toon it will be different for you too. It's like when a make introduces a new car model with standard equipment that was optional in the previous version.

Season 9 being on Tribble and coming out on Tuesday is a good reason for low numbers. We will see a rise of players on Tuesday and it will slowly decrease in a couple of weeks to its usual population until the Summer Event as proved by every Season release.
I saw the writing on the wall when Dyson Rep was put in, and stopped unlocking stores on the other reps. I knew they'd eventually be changed to the same system. I certainly don't expect refunds for the stores I had already unlocked. I paid for early access, so to speak.
Yeah I definitely want to see a refund system here. I spent 600 marks on Nukara just these last two weeks. now they are going to be unlocked for free. that is extremely frustrating.

If it was the last two weeks then it was completely your own fault. Cryptic revealed this change well before that.
Either way there is no way anyone is gonna get a refund under this situation. It's just not good business.

This. No refunds, as Marcus says.
