I very much appreciate an extra DOFF, and I don't mean to sound ungrateful for the extra CXP this weekend, but to be honest, 50% extra CXP for a few days is not going to have a significant effect on my overall STO experience.
The best time I've had recently, the time when I was most inclined to spend RL money (and did), is during the Bonus Dilithium Weekend.
For me, and I strongly suspect for many others, this game is more fun and less frustrating, when we feel we are able to fully enjoy some aspect of it, and in that way, I strongly urge the devs to provide events that involve substantial and memorable immersion in some aspect of the STO experience. This will usually, but not always, mean more substantial player rewards. Of course overall game balance should be preserved but I'm sure both can be done.
When we LIKE something, we try to find the money for it. When it frustrates us, we go where we will be less frustrated.
Interestingly, I saw a recent article whose headline implied that new research shows that frustration in video games may be the cause of aggressive tendancies in some people, not the games themselves. By ensuring STO frustration is held to a minimum, you not only get more $$$, but you also make a more fun gaming environment. You do better for your pocketbook and coincidentally for the world too.
Just my little comment during downtime.
Who wants the soapbox next? <lifts soapbox, looks around>

This is bulls1t. If that was the case, we would live in the hunger games world.
I think people is more intelligent than that.
I get frustrated with this game sometimes because i cant understand why it have so many bugs and glitches every where and are never fixed. That is my frustration that eat me until a couple of months ago. I definitely realized, that cryptic will NEVER fix any bug, so the best thing to do is to enjoy the "half" game we have, in any way you can, and not to be frustrated with anything, since this is a free to play game and of course, im not buying absoultely NOTHING with real money. That is essential, of course.
And cryptic is already too busy with the season 9 and the other lockboxes and c-store stuff. They will never think on "creating" anything else. Dont even think on it lol. And when season 9 launches, with other 100 bugs already, nothing will be done until the next half season, and the story continues... lol. But as i said, keep it calm, dont waste real money, and play the game with a smile thats all.
You can only have a T5 Oberth or a T5 Connie. Which one?
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
You can only have a T5 Oberth or a T5 Connie. Which one?
Oh wow. That's brutal. I'm stumped.
On the one hand, the ability to harness the overt overpowered opulence of the oberth at endgame.
On the other hand, the ability to finally bring together allllllll of my past purchases in a bit of Star Trek imagineering, with a T5 Constitution, Constitution bridge, Original Series phasers, Original series uniforms, Original series hand held Type 1 and 2 phasers and phaser rifle, and the Galileo shuttle.
Aaaahhhhhhhhhh. This is too close.
I'm guessing the T5 Connie would just barely get the edge for me and for the fluffiest of all fluff reasons:
When you use the TOS bridge layout, it puts ALL of your random crew types in TOS uniforms. So it's like one of the only situations where you can get a consistent uniform look when you go hopping around your ship interiors.
But that's like what this comes down to. It's like the eighth tie breaker.
That's how elegant a T5 O to that TRIBBLE##$@3'n Berth would be to me.
You got to enjoy an event focused on something you liked now other are getting to enjoy an event focused on something they like.
Fair is fair. Stop whining.
And if you seriously think you are developing aggressive tendencies because you are getting frustrated playing video games, then it's time for you to stop playing and seek help from a professional in the mental health care field.
Wow, you sure read more into my post than I intended, or perhaps your own assumptions?
I was not saying I was frustrated, I was giving my best feedback on how to make STO enjoyable and profitable for everyone. This event is fine, my only suggestion would be to make it more profound, i.e. maybe halve the assignment times or 100% CXP or something to make it really stand out. I just want the events to be even more special.
As for whining, well one person's constructive feedback is another person's whining, I guess.
Gotta wear the extra double-thick flame retardant suit around here these days...
They need to stop making unpopular decisions and then refusing to discuss the matter. What I am referring too was the removal of hourly events. I used to be able to farm marks and dil fast just with STFs when these were up, now without them I need to farm the battle zone more. Since I got so good at farming the battlezone I make even more dil then ever, more then enough to get loads of keys, doff promo packs, whatever ships I want and more from the z-store. I will just go to F2P mode and stop spending RL money now until we get hourly back, if not its no big deal to me I will just farm instead of pay.
All dev decisions are unpopular. No matter what they do there is always a faction of players pissed off. Furthermore if they didn't refuse to discuss matters they'd never get any work done.
Ahhhh, the fresh air of fatalism, with a dash of despair and a modicum of hopelessness.
I personally enjoy the variety in the events thus far.
It would be nice if they were weekly so that we the players were able to cycle through the events we don't like faster in order to get to the ones we like chronologically speaking.
Until this event I have partaken in all of these fortnightly events except the foundry event. Not because it didn't appeal to me but because foundry missions for me are more of a "spare time" sto thing. Which is happening less and less these days with all the grind.
I also like the bonus cxp event, even if the academy event does make me want to break things a bit. I shall be doffing muchly over the coming days.

I'll take it.
<climbs on soapbox>
See Dr. Phil about your anger management issues, and don't try blaming them on STO.
