I truly believe in equality for everyone -- TRIBBLE, straight, black, white, male, female, to me, everyone deserves the dignity of being treated as equal. But. I can't see it happening socially within my lifetime, as there're people who aren't ready to be treated equally but (pointing no fingers) still feel the need for preferential treatment, and all the time that's allowed and enabled, there will never be true equality...

    Wow. Nice concealed Godwin.

You're not convincing me to change my belief that abortion should be safe, legal, and rare. It's a suboptimal option, but when a woman considers it, all of the other options are worse.

Godwin? My opinion of it isn't religious-based, and by all means, continue to keep your opinion. I'm just stating things that are so, not the least of which are 1. they aren't so rare, 2. individuals I've known who use abortion for birth control, and 3. women I know who have had the procedure done and feel personally disgusted with themselves. There's so much more to it than "walk in - get the zygote/embryo/fetus/baby plucked out - walk home totally fine."

Godwin=Godwin's law. AKA invoking Hitler, even tangentially, and comparing your opponent to that genocidal maniac.

Yeah, maybe if women had easier access to birth control, they wouldn't need to abort so often. Maybe if we had real, free health care for all (not that wussy half-measure that is Obamacare), and a better adoption system, then women wouldn't need to abort so often.

Those stories Fox News references of women who use abortion casually? They are very far from the norm, statistically speaking.

Third: I recognize your point here, but that does not give ANYONE the right to decide for a woman whether or not she continues to allow what is effectively a parasitic life-form to put massive physical, mental, and hormonal strain on her body. So someone you know had an abortion and felt miserable afterwards. So what? That's her personal, emotional business, and hers alone; she has no business preventing other women from having the right to the same decision, and nobody has any right to condemn her for her choice.

I alluded to policy, not the individual. And it is the same - one group of human entities have decided that a specific group of other human entities are NOT human. If that isn't so, if there is no aspect of humanity involved, then there would be no controversy. Bottom line is the intent is to prevent the existence of another human being.
Yeah, maybe if women had easier access to birth control,
LMFAO - It's real easy to get birth control! My (now) exGF had a massive drawer full of condoms, gel, and other stuff she got when she went to planned parenthood (name irony) for her abortion.
Maybe if we had real, free health care for all
It's not free. It will cost. It is costing. That's is not ideology, it's economics.
Those stories Fox News references of women who use abortion casually? They are very far from the norm, statistically speaking.
Not going by Fox, I'm relaying personal experience from women I know or have known. That carries far more weight in shaping my opinion. Have you ever talked to women who have worked in the abortion field and have left? What about women who have had the procedure and regretted it?

Third: I recognize your point here, but that does not give ANYONE the right to decide for a woman whether or not she continues to allow what is effectively a parasitic life-form
WOW, go back to biology class. It's a human entity. It's a natural course of life for our species.

to put massive physical, mental, and hormonal strain on her body.
Having and abortion does the same thing! The body is in a state of preparing to carry another human. Removing that entity does its own damage. Why so difficult to acknowledge that?
So someone you know had an abortion and felt miserable afterwards. So what? That's her personal, emotional business, and hers alone
Ummm....like your opinion on things, they chose to share it. But it would appear you would rather these women shut up? So your feminism is one-sided - support for females who share your opinion only. Irony.
; she has no business preventing other women from having the right to the same decision, and nobody has any right to condemn her for her choice
Yet you want these women to keep it to themselves.

Is it human or isn't it? If it's not human in nature, then there is NO controversy.

Indeed. There's no such thing as free anything. Even though you might not be paying for something yourself, someone else most certainly is. As in healthcare, the doctors and nurses are not working for free, someone is writing them paychecks because they have families to feed and clothe. And all that money comes from somewhere....

    1. Still a Godwin.

    2. And that's a good thing. Keep the population down BEFORE you have to resort to something disgusting like mass culling via lottery. Better to keep the birth rate low.

Yes, I have in both cases. None of them would even dream of denying other women the opportunity to make their own choice.

It's not capable of surviving outside the host for more than a few hours (at BEST), it's entirely dependent on the host for nutrition and protection, it has an adverse effect on the physical state of the host, and it affects the host's mind and hormones. No. I support the right of every woman to choose for herself whether or not to terminate her pregnancy.

I do NOT support any other sophont telling a woman whether or not she can terminate her pregnancy.

    Is a fetus human?

Well, it has human DNA...but then again, so does a Parasitic twin.

It's debatable. I am inclined to believe that a fetus is nonsentient, and therefore has no more rights than a tapeworm. Its existence is entirely dependent upon the willingness of its host (i.e. mother) to continue the pregnancy.

This was about Kate Mulgrew and the absurdity of geocentrism but I should have figured it could turn into a politics debate lol.

Of course healthcare isn't free but its obvious the US healthcare system is broken, Obamacare didn't fix it, and repealing it without another plan won't fix it either.

I support a universal healthcare system instead, the US has the money, its just being wasted on other stuff now. military spending is way to high, corporations and rich don't pay enough taxes and dodge what they are supposed to pay. We can fund it, we just need to get the corrupt politicians out of the way.

I didn't actually suggest actively banning private planes, but since you mentioned it...

All private jet aircraft should be banned. If a vehicle is DIRECTLY work-related, then it is probably fine. Donald Trump's private 737 is NOT fine.

As long as the tenements fit basic standards of living? Sure. Not a bad idea. Good communal daycare should be useful as well.

Keeping standards up is important. Quality is very important; you can't get it with unregulated private ownership, but enough layers of regulation and corruption-busting should work to ensure that everyone gets a quality lifestyle.

Anarchy? Meh. Too much risk of "might makes right" mentality. The little guy gets screwed over.
I don't understand the difference on why one private vehicle is bad but other private vehicles are okay. A vehicle is a vehicle.

Let me put it this way.

Is a tractor-trailer truck, used to haul goods cross-country, the same as Donald Trump's personal 737?

Do you honestly consider a crop-duster to be equal in function and contribution to society to Donald Trump's 737?

Do you believe that every citizen has the inalienable right to private transportation, no matter how expensive, disruptive, or wasteful, even if safe, affordable public transportation is an available alternative?
