The ship is taken from Star Trek: Invasion game from playstation one.
The game takes place after the end of the Dominion War, occurring over several months in 2377. With Borg ships detected in the Titan system, and encroaching on Klingon space, Starfleet is mobilizing a force of ships to repel the invasion. Ryan Cooper, a newly graduated ensign, and member of Red Squad, is one of the pilots assigned to Lieutenant Commander Worf aboard the USS Typhon.
However, as the game progresses, the Borg threat is suddenly dwarfed by the re-emergence of an alien race, the Kam'Jahtae, descendants of an ancient Klingon enemy, the Hur'q. The reawakened Kam'Jahtae seek to reclaim the space they previously controlled, and are using the USS Sentinel in their plans. Cooper and the Typhon find themselves racing against time to prevent an all-out invasion of the galaxy.
Ship design its role and possibly armament all taken from Star Trek: Invasion

Cryptic is not allowed to use ships and materials from the games of other companies like "Armada", "Starfleet Command" or "Invasion".
Those ships are still the intellectual property of the company that created them even after their license expires.
Get over it.

Why the heck did someone get the bright idea to strap four Star Trek nacelles onto an obviously Corellian Engineering Corporation ship? I think I missed the Star Trek/Star Wars crossover episode.
(Seriously though, don't want, even if they could get it in. Not enough Trek stylings.)
actually... the typhon is a Battlestar with nacelles strapped onto it.
And the fighters for it are Startrekkified Vipers.

[yes that's a side view]
Even the Wild Karrde looks better from the side.
I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.
I want to punch that dude in the audio...
Seriously, they did horrid things to the Star Trek license. Like, designing some generic space fighter games and slap Trek skins on that later on. I only heard of Invasion briefly, but that is just horrible
Oh, no, no carriers for Starfleet. I'd prefer no carriers at all.

A ship I'd like to see in-game as well, unfortunately I believe it only appeared in ST Legacy so it's unlikely.....

Having said that, a nice sleek looking Carrier would be good ... I like the OLD Battlestar design The Galactica from the original series, that thing had some serious cahones for a Carrier/Warship, and most important of all the landing bays were a prominent feature of the design, something which the designers of most STO carriers seem to forget.
I's a Carrier, it's primary function is to provide a mobile platform for smaller ships to take off and land from, look at any seafearing carrier, what's the most prominent feature? The landing area!
Same with the Galactica large hangar bays on either side for easy access.
Though they would be more susceptible to attack/damage being that prominent, the design could be modified slightly to lessen that, which is why IMHO the Typhon is actually a well designed Carrier!
