Problems with the Ship Tailor?

I occassionally experience a problem with the ship tailor:
I choose to customize my starship, and then I see a default variant of it, not the specific layout I have chosen (in terms of colors, patterns, part used and so on), and it ignores colors or patterns I selected.

Is this a common problem, or just me?

As a workaround, it can help to click on one of the predefined variants of the ship (Escape Patrol Escort: Clicking on the Hermes or the Gryphon). Alternatively, sometimes it helps if I click randomize.
This doesn't work always, however - on a ship that doesn't have alternate variants, the first method doesn't work because there is nothing to click on, and the second also usually fails.

This happens with pretty much all my ships, Tactical Escort Retrofit, Galaxy Dreadnought, or Jem'Hardar Attack Fighter, and on ships like the latter it's something I am stuck with whatever I once selected.

Yeah, it's been like this for a while now. If you get the default ship showing up, just exit the tailor and go back in. It should show your ship properly after that. Might take a few tries though. For the paint patterns, the randomize option works like you said. That might take a few tries as well. I also have a problem with the tailor sometimes not saving the changes I made even though it takes my EC for the changes. Sometimes that takes a few tries too. Gets old fast.

Well, I don't know how often I should try it, because no matter what I do, changes won't appear on my Attack Fighter. Interestingly, I can save the skin and it shows how it should look like - but that's no use, of course.

    Indeed.
