Brushes,scars, discoloration on players?

kellyh5kellyh5 Member Posts: 24 Arc User
Am the only one who have noticed that all other (almost all) have brushes or scars, discolorations on their characters and my officers also have them. It's like they have been in a fight maybe it's a punishment for dying? If any is there a way I can remove it? maybe dig around in the Star Trek Online folder? or a Generator that generate the dead/dying/discolored tissue?

Thanks in advance.

I figured out how to fix it. You need to go to the login screen and then the option then you take maximum, aply it and press ''ok'' the you lower it to whatever you want. Do that a few times then the shadows and marks will disappear.

Am I the only one who noticed that your other thread on the same subject actually has responses, and that they indicate nobody's even certain what you're talking about? Perhaps engaging some of the responders, and providing more information, would be more productive than simply asking the same unclear question again and expecting different results. Just sayin'...

Scars can be edited and removed in the character creator. There is no representation of death penalties visually on your character or officers.

    Scars are random.

New bridge officers have random costumes. When you have a random costume that includes the possibility of, say, 19 scars/tattoos or 1 "no scar" option then 95% of default costumes will have a scar or a face tattoo. The way around that is to actually manually set your BOs' looks.

Why do I get the feeling that the OP is playing on a computer with poor graphics capabilities..

I'm wondering that, too. Ever since LoR there's been weird shadows and discoloration on character models at low settings. Almost always involves a dark shadow above the right eye.

Maybe as part of their evil plots PWE has teamed up with hardware companies to force us all to upgrade, in exchange for kickbacks! :D

This might be it. Running STO on my not-so-spectacular laptop at low settings, all characters will have dark brushes on their faces.

I found a way to deal with this a few weeks ago, but I forgot what fixes it.

It was one of the graphics options. I think it was set to 60% and I moved it to 100%. (Keep in mind that 100% isn't at the slider's maximum.) So if you play with it a little you should do fine.

If I log in now I might be able to figure out which one.

Best answer so far. And I don't have bad graphics.. I just tried to overclock it and it got set on fire...

So long as it brings back the original GFX for the Bio-Thermal Dampener I'm fine with it...

On my laptop if I don't have character model detail set to at least 75% all my bridge officers will be covered in bruises. It seriously looks like my captain beats them or something.
