Has the Joint Dyson Task Force....

Questioned their respective governments on what is going to be done with the Omega Particles? As far as I know we are only here to stop the Voth/Undine from getting Omega Particles. But at the same time, the Dyson Sphere is still producing them, and the Jenolen Sphere is presumably producing Omega Particles as well.

So what are we doing with them? Are the Romulans getting them too?(I'd assume so, which scares me because there has to be Tal Shiar operatives in the Romulan Republic) How bout the Klingons? With all their Honor, they seem to get bad eggs quite a bit, and will one of these bad eggs get access to them to make a terrible super weapon?

From what I've been told, Omega Particles can be used in a number of terrible ways. They can disrupt subspace and cause Warp Drive to not function anymore, and many other worse things.

Please Question Your Government!

Chances are that 90% of all Omega Particles are either destroyed or waiting to be destroyed while staying in Storage Tanks. 5% is used in various research projects to make it easier to destroy Omega Particles and understand it better. The remaining 5% are likely recovered by certain Black Ops organizations like Section 31 to use for their nefarious purposes.

And that's exactly why I wrote that first post. According to the Memory Alpha that I just read, a handful of these molecules can disable Warp Drive for an entire quadrant. This cannot be allowed to continue.

The same can be said with nuclear weapon in our world. That's not so difficult to build a dirty bomb. Yet, so far, it seems we have been able to contain the threat.

You can't be 100% effective, but you always have to try. Because you don't want the alternative.

The Omega Particle are too dangerous to be used, the Alpha Quadrant agree on that. So they destroy it, and hope none of them find their way in the hand of people willing to use them.

However, the probability is that various arms of the respective governments involved in, ahem, less than public operations would want to squirrel a few of the terrible things away.

Yanno, just in case the other side(s) are doing the same.

exactly my point, and then Fleet Admiral Alexander Marcus comes along(sorry for the JJTrek reference, was easiest example to come to mind) and thinks he is doing good by utilizing things that are bad to do good. Then everything blows up. It's an old tale.

...a memory comes to mind, of a federation admiral who made a deal with an alien species that was dying of some dreaded disease to relocate or if necessary destroy the thriving inhabitants of a planet that had healing abilities...was that the insurrection incident with multiphasic radiation?

There's always a few in every faction.

(I hope they keep their omega particles tucked away nice and safe in the same place they still probably keep the smallpox cultures.."just in case".)

Ah, but you're forgetting that then Kirk (our character) will pop out of nowhere, spank Adm.Markus and save the day! :P
