New Rep Sustem, please limit the "clickies"?

realisticaltyrealisticalty Member Posts: 851 Arc User
To be fair I haven't read through the Dev Blog or played on Tribble...

I "read" that we will have 4 ground, 4 space and 4 "clickable" abilities.

Please, limit the "click for 32.5 seconds of this ability" type powers.

I came from another MMO that seemed to load us down with tons of options of clickable momentary abilities and I really am not interested in stopping every 30 seconds to restrategize, that's one reason I'm here and not there.

I love passive abilities and if it has to be clicky, once per session clickables. Am I alone?

I don't even USE them. Hell, I got a ship or two that cloaks and I rarely use even THAT. I'd just ignore it.

ETA: BTW, passives aren't clickies, just the Actives. Either way, they're mostly ignorable.

    Dafuq?

You get 1 "clicky" per rep. Meaning once Season 9 goes live, you'll have 4 slots for clickies and 5 clickies to choose from.

All the Tier 1-4 rep abilities are passives. Tier 5 is clicky. Unless they start releasing new reps weekly, I don't think you'll get buried under clickies.

I think the only one I use is the Tier V romulan ability. It was great in MUI for closing a portal without getting attacked.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth

The nukara one is occasionally useful for mobs at short range.

Finished off groups of mirandas in MI that way a few times.

However, all the active tier 5 powers are situationally useful on relatively long cooldowns.

Not exactly the root cause of power creep.

Which actually makes me signiuficantly more likely to at least somewhat build up my extra characters. They won't be ridiculously outclassed by other players in PVE.

If the crit and damage passives are being boosted significantly, you will be ridiculously outdpsed by escort and battle cruiser captains unless you spec into the same exact passives they have in which case your tanking and sci abilities aren't as strong.

They did limit it. As of season 9, you have 4. That is all.

My advice is do not play a romulan, though, ever.... with 5 or so singularity powers and another clicky on some warp cores, it would be a bad choice for the OP to play this race.

Outside of romulan stuff, you have

    4 rep clicks
4 class clicks (or is it 5?)
possibly ship specific (mode change, or weapon, or the like)
and a few others... maybe an active console clicker, devices...

Still, when you add it all up, in space you should have some 20+ things to click on, much of it officer skills and your own captain skills but its a significant number.

The nice thing about all Rep abilities, passive and 'clicky', is that they don't take up any slots you need for other things.

Easy enough to set up another secondary power bar on the HUD for all of those situational abilities you use once in a great while.

I can see them selling rep slots in a fleet holding the same way we got our active doff slots.

Yeah, a few of us can see that particular blot on the horizon.

Only way I think they should do something like that, is if the new slots are not hidden behind tiers 2 and 3, like the doff slots.

Instead, on whatever new holding its attached to, put them behind the tier 1 holdings.

Tier 1 is within the grasp of even a small fleet.

Tier 3 is a serious and weighty task for a small fleet.

Ok, thanks, so I'm in the minority, I'll live with it. I like to have the minimum bars possible on my display which is already loaded with choices.

But I will say this, if 3 seasons from now you have to choose from 15 - 20 more clickies and their durations are short and you begin to focus your existence on what to click first and how to make macros for the complex click combinations that then develop, I won't say I warned ya.

Now I'll crawl back into my hole of obscurity...

Too bad the cooldown makes that ability almost useless... lol. So, no, its not so great.. (i have it as well, but honestly i dont use it too much for the same reason.). Cloaks doesnt even work on the mirror event. If you are not getting fire its not because you used cloak, its because sometimes if you are far enough, you can close the rift without even being noticed. But just use the cloak strategy in the middle of the ships spawning from the rift.. lol, that NEVER works, and i tried so many times.. lol. The cloak T5 romulan skill works, because it takes more seconds to fade than the time you need to close the rift, but you cant use it again until.. hmm 5 minutes?? lol.

But i do prefer abilities that doesnt need to be clicked every few seconds. But i also think that we will not have more than 1 for reputation, that is not the end of the world.. lol.

I much prefer passives instead of clickys. For ground, I'd rather focus on tactics involving positioning and aiming rather than tactics of mashing my number pad. For space, between the boff abilities, career actives, devices, singularity core options, hangars, cruiser commands  ... I feel like I am watching the cool downs on all of that than actually looking at the other ships I'm fighting. Don't get me wrong, clickys are good but too much of this good thing can be distracting to the gameplay experience.

Well, if thats the case in three seasons, and because of how it will get added incrementally, if i have not learned as i went along....well then, time to put me on an ice floe.

I'm not worried about what clickies will be available in 3 seasons. I so suggest you look into keybinds though. you can group abilities together to be used at the same time with one keystroke.
