I agree. I do not like deadlined events. I'm ok with doing something 14 times, or 40 times, but having to squeeze that in before an arbitrary finishing date is extremely annoying. Especially when the mission itself has a mandatory length, and there's no way to finish it faster regardless of team skill.
Because the "Event of the Month" is designed to not let you catch up .
Good point. That is pretty much what kills it. Nobody wants to be left in the dust not just once but over and over and over and over. That makes them leave, particularly if RL issues force them to not be able to take full part in the TimeGrind.
Bumping this thread back up because the OP has hit the proverbial nail on the head and the devs need to take notice and regards to long standing players and fleets, certain issues have been pushing me away from this game because the grind itself over and over again is becoming dull and repetitive,
my start dates 3rd anniversary fell on the 21st of march last month and to be honest its beginning to show its strain on me, this mirror grind alone has played havoc upon my hands and i have come to the point of saying enough is just about enough..
i log on for the day have the usual chat and banter with friends, do the couple alt runs for mirror, then look around and cannot be bothered doing anything else, so i have been moonlighting in another game which is not concerned with me spamming the TRIBBLE out of my keyboard and mouse at instant intervals and spending more quality time with my family..
over the past 3 years i have seen many changes to the game, many which others did not like that i let slide because i had a love for the work that was being done for the players and the universe of star trek and for the friends i had made from all over the world, but slowly but surely any work we have achieved ingame with our alts has slowly been whittled down or become obsolete, no one seems to care much for grinding out accolades or what certain passive resistances give anymore in the way of bonus's to our captains because most were superseded by the super dooper consoles that became available to any man or woman who could get em by only having to do so little work in the way of dilithium gathering or pumping money in to just buy their way to the top with dilithium from the exchange or ships from the c-store, lately i see people who have played for a month or so that have the best ships and the best consoles from the bases
and pump out absurdly high amounts of dps compared to those who worked their butts off to get the right aspects of their ships and layouts and captains and boffs over the long haul..
so yes i blame cryptic for the negative feelings coming upon the game that is detrimental to all fleets and long standing players of a game that was once loved by many but now seems more set for the johnny come latelys who come and go as long as they spend a bit whilst they have resided here for a short time..
so all in all if cryptic decide to turn a blind eye to the veterans or people who love the game, then their shortsightedness could be the start of their own downfall...

I find it interesting how many Veterans are posting in this thread. There are a lot of wise heads making comment.
It would indeed be a shame if nothing changes.
