Ok before, we had a very short while of nothing if we had a FULL team of extremely powerful players Now no matter how hard we try we are swarmed with mirror ships and base ALWAYS dies, even if lucky enough to have a decent team. The ONLY way to do it now and save the base is if we have a pre-made team with a strategy beforehand.
Thanks but no thanks...The mirror event is no longer fun....you guys patched the fun out of it.
Sounds like the mission is working as it was designed to. Funny, people ask for harder content, get it, then complain cause they simply can't walk over it anymore. Teamwork is actually required and a certain level of coordination.

Star Trek Battles: For those who want to Play Star Trek Online as it WAS MEANT TO BE!!!
It can be difficult to close rifts at times when everyone is being shot at by everything, even for science vessels. Sometimes I feel that even the slightest bump to our shields throws everything out of whack on a ship and completely disrupts all starship operations.
Captain: WHAT IN BLAZES WAS THAT!?
Ensign: Sir, a tiny space rock hit our shields. EVERYTHING IS OFFLINE!!!
I only got bonus marks for the station's health once and that was the 1st or 2nd time I have played MI elite.
Since then the station always gets disabled after the mission has been updated, that has basically taken the fun and challenge out of the mission. That basically makes it a chore to get the inter-dimensional thingy reward.
I read in a post that the mission gives 2k dilithium as a reward... which is news to me. If that is the case, and Mirror Invasion becomes a repeatable mission after the Mirror event is over, then I just might think about pugging that mission. The ground rule would be everyone AFKs until it is time to defeat the Terran Dreadnought. If I can earn 2k dilithium parking my starship somewhere safe while doing chores like cleaning dishes, then I think I will be okay with that.
I only have two characters that are outfitted enough to hold my old while closing rifts and powering things, the rifts seems to love opening in pairs right over the generator things.
No I dont just kill things, I attempt to fight and I have...again...NINE characters to do so premade is not the best option for me...Sure if I did it with my fleeties and my main character we would wipe the map with them.
I mean for the 90% out there that is just regular players with little to none rep and fleet gear puggin it out...For them its a futile battle.
The event is busted And I say this for good reason, you all know it.

QFT. A welcome change. Really hope they turn up the difficulty on the Undine content before it makes it to Holodeck. Justify the buffs the reputation traits are getting and the removal of rep gear lower than Mk XII!
The only difference between before the patch and after is, before the patch a really noob team could win the bonus marks optional objectives, easily most of the times. Now, you really need people in your team that knows how the mission works to make this happen.
Because now, you can have literally 3 rifts spawning ships in the same spot. In that case, its IMPOSSIBLE for ANY ship to kill the 3 spawning spots and close those 3 rifts before a lot of ships keep spawning again. So if you dont go with at least 2 guys, killing and closing, its just impossible.
Thats the only difference, before the patch you chould just go alone and even go back to help your mates after you close a couple of rifts. Now you cant do that. If your team is noob, the only thing you can do now is to fight without any chance to close almost any rift lol.

Hey Rising,
I had to laugh at your post.... "this is easy!.... make it harder!".... Devs make it harder... "this is hard.... make it easier!"... hahahah!
I had the pleasure of having done the MI with fellow STB members and we have done fine!... Elite & Normal.. we have chosen normal as we are running it on multiple toons but still we always coordinate and yeah the base has fallen to 0 a couple of times but eh... We go into it with the mindset of working as a team and having fun!
I can't wait to see what S9 will bring to STO... to STB!
when I'm puggin it the only way we have a chance is when I tag along with somebody that knows what they are doing, I help by closing the rifts powering stuff or keeping the mirrors off them so they can. I see not many will help each other.

I don't mind a challenging mission. Increasing the difficulty can make a mission more fun.
However, it must be balanced by the fact that the optional objective can be achievable. I am not saying it the optional objective must be achievable each and every time the mission is played. But you must have at least a fair chance to do so.
There are simply too many rifts opening too quickly for players to have a chance to close enough of them and have an opportunity to kill some of the Terran Empire starships that made it through so that the Reman station has a fighting chance of not being disabled. The most refits closed that i have experienced is 52 of them. That was I closed about half of them myself because I count the number of rifts I close in every mission. How do I do that? Simple. I do not engage in combat. I do not even fire back in self defense most of the time. I simply go full impulse and do evasive maneuvers to avoid combat to get to the nearest rift that does not have any Terran starhips guarding it.
Does dodging ships and sneaking in close to close rift sound fun to you if that is the only thing which you are doing throughout the entire mission? It can be fun as long as there is time for you to do other things like destroy a Terran starship once in a while. But there's no time for that if rifts continuously appears.

You're not supposed to kill them all and close a rift on your own.
I only have two characters that are outfitted enough to hold my old while closing rifts and powering things, the rifts seems to love opening in pairs right over the generator things.

I can tell you your problem right now. Nine characters. Wtf do you need nine for? This is the problem I've been seeing a lot of. At most, you should have 4 characters. And you shouldn't be trying to Kevel them all up. This divides too much of your time and makes it feel like everything is harder. But that's it, it only feels that way. And even then, you shouldn't be switching back and forth all the time. If you start one, you treat it just like you did your first one and go all the way through with it, finish it, optimize it, then move on to another. As I said, going from one to another will always make you feel like you aren't getting anywhere.
Exactly, and they respawn, so unless you have major DPS you get swarmed...I'm talking low level characters that lack DPS, fresh 50's AND have to compensate for the AFK'er you most likely have. the fact you guys can preform and make good is not the argument here. a fresh 50 wont be able to DPS or outrun the event is OP, it was fine before they monkeyed with it, the ELITE is the only one they should have messed with.
If you don't know why one would need nine characters then I wont bother telling you.;)
You're not supposed to kill them all and close a rift on your own.
Kind of, eh? Cause it was possible to have 3 rifts spawn at a corner of the map before the changes. It's like folks don't realize that there are four corners and five players. They don't realize that instead of sitting their twiddling their thumbs and waiting, that maybe they could be helping somebody else somewhere else. It's like they don't realize they can close the rifts without killing the ships, either letting them move out of range or having somebody kite them out of range...closing the rifts - so they face fewer ships. Folks just don't think...and...thus they complain.

if you are trying to say my issues are from not helping you are sadly wrong, I have way to much bad experience with this event, the ONLY reason I do it anymore is to get my stupid event reward and some Romulus rep that doesn't include having to do those damned eppohhs.

Wasn't directed at anybody specifically. It's simply observation from having run it 130+ times and what tends to have happened when things go wrong vs. things running normally or even smooth.
One person trying to fly around to help out, won't necessarily make a difference if you've got two folks sitting on a substation waiting to click it again while you've got two other folks AFK.
I wouldn't say that the changes they made made any difference - it's more the people...they're tired of running it for the reward, so they're not even trying - since to get the reward, all they need is the specific doohickey - the rest doesn't matter...it's all optional. Doesn't matter to them if the station gets destroyed 5+ times...eventually time expires, the ships go away - you close some rifts, blow up the Dread, and get the doohickey.
It's a poorly designed event that rewards folks for doing nothing during the majority of it.
It's just a coincidence, imho, that things got worse with the change - folks were burnt out. Don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing it - but I think the GMs are tired of getting reports that are little more than "X is AFKing scum"...I had planned to keep running it for the daily rewards, but with all the AFKers and folks not even trying in the least...it's just not worth it.
the issue is of dps and priority and jumping on the issue quickly and killing it off as fast as possible. some groups can effortlessly go through the various rifts without incident, other groups with lower dps no matter how hard they try, one rift appears, fighting them to shut it down, before its closed 3 more opened up and then another down with another 3 more opened, sending regulars through.
at times i see im doing my bit, closing rifts and powering the station without issue, then see 30+ mirror ships swarming the station, and being one who loves to just jump into such odds, my contribution helps significantly because being an faw tac with cruiser and a little survivability, you would think that would be it, but then you realize another 20+ ships the other side of the station. rifts have first priority. cut the support beams down and the building topples.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
They didn't increase difficulty, they increased the zerging on the map. Classic Cryptic "fix", reminds a lot of what they did with CE a while ago.
Someone needs to inject in these guys head that more difficult doesn't mean +100.000 more hullpoints or +1000 ships spawn. It just makes it more boring and dull.

Yeah, it really was the least good fix to the good-team-hanging-around-for-five-minutes problem.
Should have capped the number of possible rifts.
Second phase starts when either time has elapsed or the team kill enough rifts.

Yet there are groups with puny-low DPS that get perfect runs even after last week's maint.

Rifts indeed have first priority. But station defenders have second priority. A dedicated repair boat can keep the station alive when the swarms appear. Unless of course a phaser proc knocks its shields off for a split second...
I read in a post that the mission gives 2k dilithium as a reward... which is news to me. you only get the 2k dilithium reward while the event is running and after you have completed the initial 50k + doff rep.
after you have claimed your first reward you will then get 2k dil + 50 fleet marks for each additional Multidimensional Transporter you hand in through the new rep project up till the time the special event ends.
after this if they keep the MI mission active you will only get the basic choice of marks reward.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Sounds like the mission is working as it was designed to. Funny, people ask for harder content, get it, then complain cause they simply can't walk over it anymore. Teamwork is actually required and a certain level of coordination.

You do realize that people complaining about a lack of challenge are not the same ones as those asking for a nerf? Just because some people are constantly asking for an increase in difficulty doesn't mean everybody wants the same.
I was in an STO break for a while, but this event brought me out of it. Briefly.
I was going about playing the normal for a couple days, no big deal. Then there is a patch. I am always swarmed. My pugmates are constantly swarmed. Even moving as a team, one player aggroes the enemy while the other closes the rift. Except now it't not that simple.
There are always ships at 9.99 km that poke you with one phaser shot and run. Every time. It wasn't hard and I never lost, but it was damn annoying and took much longer than it did pre-patch. I said "TRIBBLE this" and decided that the event wasn't wasn't worth my time.
Getting phaser procced every 5 seconds is also pretty annoying.
people just need to stop kirking, disable the auto fire, and follow someone. when they aggro the npc's you close the rifts then help clean up.
otherwise its just using a teaspoon to empty a bath while the taps are still running.
Try doing it with 6-9 rifts in pretty much one spot and the ships coming through more quickly too. I have had it where the one I was shadowing pulled the mirror ships but as I was closing the rift another wave came through and it was just a pain.
They have gone from one extreme to the other. From twiddling thumbs for a couple of minutes to getting swamped. Hopefully they will reach a happy medium when this next comes around.
I think the biggest problem isn't the rifts being close together, spawning too fast, or people not closing them.
Instead it's the really dumb idea of having an event with interruptible actions and every enemy has FAW. Shadowing does no good when a stray beam stops you from closing the rift.

The base dies if the players let it die. There's no super secret strategy for it - there's no requirement for only the best players.
The base tends to die when 3 of the 5 folks are AFK, though not always...but other than that...c'mon.
