S9 Tribble Test Weekend - Yes / No?

If yes, will we get an updated Undine Tribble that rewards 1 Undine Mark when petting each hour? If yes, since it would "just" be an update of an existing tribble, would we also get a new Borg Tribble that rewards 1 Omega Mark when petting each hour? That would really be a nice thing, and it would be fitting, not just because of the tribbles, butt also because the Borg episodes are receiving sum luv this time.

i doubt it i think they said they would not do it nomore since LOR which is why there was none for season 8 and they just gave the tribble to everyone.

Yup tribble rewards are now seasonal rewards. I don't think it will be an undine tribble since we already have a fluidic tribble.

I guess we will have to see what the new fleet holding will be.

That's why I said I hope there's gunna be an update to the existing Borg and Fluidic Tribbles to reward 1 of each of their rep marks. :)

How about an Undine consultant duty officer that gives 1 Undine mark for every successful assignment he completes? I would rather have a duty officer than another tribble.

Doesn't matter. The fluidic tribble, golden tribble, and tribble of borg can only be purchased from the c-store once per account, despite the info in the store indicating you can buy as many as you want (while being limited to 1 per character). Over a year ago I purchased a single tribble of borg from the c-store and it no longer shows up in the store, on any character, not even for characters created a year after purchasing it. After buying it I searched the forums and found that these tribbles in the c-store have had this problem since they were added in as single purchases for zen. Originally each tribble was a test reward account unlock and something there broke when they later became purchasable for everybody. Despite the info in the c-store saying the ToB comes packed in a box and becomes bound when you unpack it, the one I bought went into my inventory and wasn't in a box. It was also unbound until I equipped it. I reported all this over a year ago when it happened to me, so I don't expect them to ever fix it.

See above. If by update you mean we will be able to buy more of the tribbles then I'm all for it. As far as asking for the tribble of borg to give out an omega mark, it's been requested since season 7 launched November 2012.

They seem to have given up on the idea of test weekends.

They weren't doing Cryptic any good. People would just log on to get their prize and log off without doing any useful testing.

In the players' defense, much of the testing done that does report bugs, doesn't seem to prevent the bugs from going live.

    So ...

There is no need for test weekend as you can test new season stuff every day. I think it is better this way.

BS.... I've done enough Tribble testing to know that the devs do read the reports and use the info to find things that need fixed.

It is the developers responsibility to beta-test. To not beta-test is to send out an unrefined/incomplete product.

Which is exactly what we've been doing on this server. A bunch of people logging on for a short time on the weekend before doesn't help. What helps is longer term iterative testing with ongoing feedback between players and developers, which if you look at the stickies, is precisely what has been going on.

To get the free reward, you have to log in 14 times and wait in space for no apparent reason for over a minute before the action will start. There is also a 20 hour cool down. Enjoy.

I agree. Testing on Tribble is the best way to talk to the Devs period. The only reason I haven't done it in awhile is time and computer space. :(

Test weekends were more about testing new season code under load, not bug fixes. It's the longer term iterative feedback testing that deals with bugs.

This. While there's nothing like a public beta to help test code under network stress, it's awful for actually locating, marking, and fixing specific bugs because the huge mass of "casual" testers are simply unreliable.

They'll report anything they see as "wrong" as some kind of bug, flood the bug report system with unusable information, and generally muck things up. It's like trying to conduct art history research with your only available sources being 30-second comments from random tour groups passing through a local museum.

Trust me, I've been on the other end of receiving bug reports during a public beta, and it's a cluster-eff of noise. At best you can get a "heat map" of the most "visible" bugs and inconsistencies, and mark them for priority fixing before things go live (because everyone knows you can't ship anything on this scale 100% "bug-free", just mitigate the worst of the damage and get everything else later on).

The most reliable sources of real feedback are the veteran volunteers and (surprise) professional QA teams that inhabit test servers and these kinds of forums as a hobby rather than a hit-and-run. Ironically this is perhaps the only place where official community forums are consistently useful :D
