There's always some discussion going on regarding LTS or other "gold" subscriber rewards but here is a vet reward that will surely anger all ftp players and maybe even stimulate sales of LTS memberships. The ultimate paid-subscriber 1000+ (or more) day reward: The account bound "red matter capacitor". There seems to be people willing to pay $80-100 on amazon or other sellers for a collector edition of STO in order to get this mythical device so why not pay that to Cryptic instead. I'm not sure if such a thing would be possible, given licensing requirements and all that nonsense but it should make for lively debate/ranting. Would offering the RMC to subscribers be good or bad?
Well, I personally would be disappointed if that was all you got for so high a milestone, as I pre-ordered the game and had a lifetime sub since before the game came out, and have always had this item.
I think there should be some way for new players to get it, just not that way. Seems given Cryptic/PWE's business model, a random lockbox reward is the most likely way they might bring it back.
"I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am."
Bad. They already got everything they paid for, and need to get over this psychotic obsession with "More, more, more!"
They do not.
Cryptic is the one telling them "more". Don't blame the people who were told that they would get more, so they bought it expecting more.
It isn't how things work.
Look at the legacy pack. Nobody expects more from that because cryptic never said they would get more.
Ok how about as a new super life time award, you all get the chance to pick one ship from the other factions ( oh imagine the forum rage, it would burn for a thousand years ).
I tend to agree, I don't see that we NEED more, I dislike that we keep being told that we'll GET more and don't. If that makes sense?
I think the LTS perks should be limited to thus:
Titles every 100 days until 1000
Priority cueing
Account bank and added bank slots
Added BOff slots
Added costume slots
Free respec token
Unique ship
Auto DIL refining and the extra 2000 from the mission
The rest (like the Mugato, the unifoms, the bridge, CPT yacht, android...) is just fluff. We don't need anything added to it. Some of these come with going gold -- I don't get why we "need" so much stuff to keep us playing. And now that the waiting period has been dropped, it's a moot point anyway.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
I understand that new players want the RMC, I have it because I preordered the collectors edition. However, I think that if they want to make it available to everyone I would love to see a minor upgrade to those that got it in the preorder. The upgrade would be due to the fact that our engineers have been able to improve it over the years. This would increase the amount of time it is effective, or to lower the cool down. I think it would be only fair to those of us that had faith in the game from the start.
They do not.

Pretty much this. Someone said in an interview that there was something coming "aimed specifically at people who own an LTS" or words to that effect. Hence why you're getting people wondering what it might be and if we'll actually get it.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

I like this idea, I was thinking something similar, really. Given the lunacy with lockbox ships and how certain ships are in this game as compared to how they are presented canonically, there is no logical argument against it.
1500 days, one ship from any faction, if dismissed you can never get another one. 2000 or 2500 days, any one lockbox ship, if dismissed; no soup for you, back to the end of the line.
Not necessary of course, I feel I've gotten my money's worth. Would be a very nice thank you gesture though, that I would be appreciative of, as someone who took a gamble to support them pre-release with a lifetime sub and pre-ordering two copies of the game. The lockbox ship thing might actually smooth out some forum rage in some circles, if they knew they were getting a nice perk like that in return for a lifetime sub or long-term gold sub.
Can't say I'll be holding my breath though lol.

I got my LTS on sale during beta 4+ years ago. I got my money's worth.
It is cryptics fault for saying that more substantial rewards are coming and not saying anything else.
Whenever Cryptic says something and doesn't come through and people get upset cryptic says..."oh well i shouldn't say anything". My daughter used to say that when she was a kid as well.
But the truth of the matter is, when cryptic says something and see's hundreds of posts asking for more info, instead of completely ignoring it for month and months, the should man up and say "yeah, sorry. It isn't going to happen for S9", or "yeah we thought it over and stopped it".
That way, when someone makes a new thread about the same issue, it can be quoted.
I don't feel "Entitled" to more rewards. I paid for a LTS, and read the agreement. I received what was promised in said agreement.
My LTS will pay for itself in time.
However,I think that monthly "Gold".subscribers, are getting hosed.

totally agree however i belive that any extras added are to attract more lifetime buyers rather then reward existing lifetimers, naturally any extras added to entice new buyers will automatically be given to existing lifers and it has nothing to do with being entitled its just the way the rewards are implemented and thats that.
i see the wiki item regarding this about a year ago and thought that when we got the ev suit that was it.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I believe the next vet reward should be an immunity toggle for forced social interaction, aka "Discoball dancing". Turn on the immunity and watch all the poor ftp members dance the night away while I stoically stand firm going about my business. Yeah! That would send the LTS sales through the roof!

But then the party-goers would say that LTS is OP and needs to be nerfed, and it will be cited as yet another P2W advantage.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I'm not sure I understand some folks in this thread.
What would be the purpose behind "angering ftp users" as the OP suggests as partial reasoning behind his suggestion?
I'm FTP. as far as your suggestion, whoopity doo. I could not even remotely care less what any person ftp or lts has in their inventory.
I do however find the idea that angering FTP might increase lts revolting. If anything in life marginalizes me and my station, I leave it behind for good.

Given what they already offer with the LTS does not tempt me adding RMC to it won't. It isn't worth that much. There are some people who are happy to drop a ton of money on their hobbies, doesn't mean the item is actually worth that.
As to angering FTPs, not going to happen, after all if they want it that much they will just buy the collectors edition which is a lot cheaper than an LTS.
Just so that you and I agree: Some of us LTS'ers are generally fine with what we got... We aren't all like that you know?
Agreed. The ones who can't stop thinking what "their next big reward" should be, and can't stop posting wish lists, need help.
The ones who know their purchase will pay off over time as that 500 Zen per month racks up are fine. It's the ones who can't stop with the "I paid for the big package, and there's not enough dev lipstick on my booty yet" routine that generate the animosity.
I am quite content with my LTS rewards. Would it be nice if they added more stuff sometimes? Sure. But I'm not gonna gripe about wanting more. Last thing I honestly need right now is the RMC, already bought that a long time ago as well. My LTS paid for itself quite well considering how many characters I have and continue to use to this day, which IMO is the real benefit of it.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
I think the 1500 day vet reward, aka the ULTIMATE vet reward, should be the Wrath of Khan era Starfleet Uniform. So you get it for free after 1500 days.
Then maybe 2000 days they can give out the Khan era Khan unis. 3000 Days a Ferengi Shuttle. 4000 Days the Bajoran Militia Uniform. And 8000 Days the Del Taco Shuttle.
I believe the next vet reward should be an immunity toggle for forced social interaction, aka "Discoball dancing". Turn on the immunity and watch all the poor ftp members dance the night away while I stoically stand firm going about my business. Yeah! That would send the LTS sales through the roof!
I have read more posts in the forum than I can remember. None of them compare to this idea. If this idea was physical, it would be the purest latinum in the galaxy.
I bought the Collector's Edition on eBay just for the RMC. Paid $30 for it. It's on almost every ship I own. Love it. Should it be part of the LTS? I wouldn't have an issue if it was made part of the LTS, however I think there are other things that should be made part of the LTS before the RMC. Such as a 5% C-Store discount.
That being said, my LTS has already paid for itself and I wouldn't be put out if they never added another thing to it. (I won't complain if they do, though. Like anazonda said, who doesn't want free shinies?)

I would be pretty annoyed if my next paid for LTS reward was a separate purchased item that was unique.....Please Cryptic do NOT do this.

I already have most of those wait.....ALL of those
It seems some of my comments were (somewhat understandably) interpreted as a swipe at FTP players. Nothing could be further from the truth. I believe ftp players are the backbone of the game and I was just trying to have a little fun by being mildly sarcastic, and hopefully prod a little discussion. There seemed to be so much discussion regarding this mythical "holy grail", "Excaliber" RMC device that I thought that making it available through purchase of an LTS might be a good idea. I was hoping for a win-win but I apoligize if I have angered or caused anyone to feel insulted. Such wasn't my intention.

At 1500 days you get one of them.
