Ok so currently I have a Fleet Assault Cruiser Refit (Sovereign class) and am thinking about an Odyssey Tactical Cruiser.
I know the Odyssey lacks maneuverability and also lacks the 4th tac console, but at the same time, has the potential for one additional tac ability and also seems to have more hull and better shields at the expense of one engineering ability.
As far as overall damage output and resiliency, which one would be better?
My main concern about damage output is the lack of the 4th tac console slot.
I dish out more damage with the Sov than the Oddy. Then again, I'm getting double value out of all my tactical cooldowns on the sov with an aux2bat build. Never the less, I think the sov has greater potential even without aux2bat. The oddy is more of a jack of all trades, master of none.
I own both; for better DPS numbers and pure combat ability, get yourself a Fleet Sovereign. If you'd like more flexibility, a bit more tank, and the ability to TRIBBLE out an Aquarius Escort pet, pick up the Tactical Oddyssey. The universal Lt. Com slot is a nice thing to have.
They're both great cruisers; it's just a matter of what you want out of your ship more.
