I haven't used this in 2 years so please bear with me. The power gives a percentage( 10, 15 or 25%) increase in damage for 10 sec within a cone of cannon/turret fire, what does that mean?
Is this that percentage per target within the cone, so for example if its 3 targets you get 3x(1+%)x normal damage
That percentage across distributed across the targets
Or is the in-game graphic exactly determining the damage, so shots that seem headed nowhere do zero damage, with a massive target like a cube getting absurd damage by getting hit by all shots.
The ability does up your damage, but CSV is more about the cone damage than the actual boost. If you're looking for PvE DPS get CSV (since there's plenty of mobs to shoot at). CRF is better for PvP. I know a lot of players which run both, and if you're a tac captain you can do some other nifty tac boff layouts.
I'm sure someone will come along and point out the math but generally, CRF will do more damage to that lone cube than CSV will.
I have used both of them. It is true that if you are hitting slow moving targets, or ones that you can keep in front of you, cannon scatter volley can help hit them all at once. For small ships, it is great. However, it is possible to take out a group of spheres with cannon rapid fire one at a time, faster. It all depends on how good your gear, and build is.

LOl, nice, my SCV can shot more than 3 targets.. lol.
CSV shoots max 3 targets in a volley... if one is destroyed or goes out of area of effect, then a different target is choosen. In more than 2 years I never have seen any of my toons hitting more than 3 targets at the some time using CSV.
