Not that someone cares, but I have been in shore leave from 7 months now. My last take on this game was when Sphere of Influence aired.
I've been following the news and the changes as best as I can. I thinking to come back to the game. But, there's so many new items and ships I'm little confused.
My main two characters are a Tactical Romulan named Tyrak(Scimitar named Ra'Kholh) and a FED Human Engineer called Tyrael(Odissey TAC named USS Justice).
With both them I was able to always score top3 on Elite STFs, even without REP gear. My Scimitar have only Romulan Weapons from the Rep. The rest is an Aegis set in my Odissey.
Some questions I have:
1 - How behind in firepower am I?
2 - Is there any change to game mechanics that I should be aware to make my build?
3 - Which ship is now good for replacing my Odissey? The Vegeance or there is other?
4 - The Scimitar still is the best TAC ship for romulans? Or there is a new smelter out there?
Because I'm returning, I'm finding all this Reputatoins to grind a little annoying. Any advices in that too? What REP should I focus first?
Last question: I'm from Brazil, is there any fllet that speaks portuguese or even in English wants to welcome a almost veteran member, a little rusty?

Grind to get your ships.
Grind to get newer, shinier powers.
and Grind to earn a reputation.
/thread.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

1. no difference, however season 9 looms around the corner and changes are planned there.
2. see 1.
3. oddy is still competitive, however dont be taken in by the galaxy upgrade, its the same as before with a new coat of paint to cover the cracks.
4. yes. no.
reputation grinds are changing in season 9, for now now the only details are in recent dev blogs.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
2 - Is there any change to game mechanics that I should be aware to make my build?
Coming in S9, you'll no longer be able to cloak and use full impulse at the same time. Additionally, you'll only have access to four Reputation Passives at any given time. On the plus side, however, Tactical/Science/Engineering Team now have seperate cooldowns.
3 - Which ship is now good for replacing my Odissey? The Vegeance or there is other?
Depends what sort of ship you want. Avenger is good if you're used to using a Lt. Cdr Tac on your Ody. If not, either stick with your Ody or try the revamped Gal-Dreadnought.
4 - The Scimitar still is the best TAC ship for romulans? Or there is a new smelter out there?
Arguably debatable. When S9 comes into effect, things may change significantly. Cryptic are taking steps (albeit baby steps) to kerb the amount of Vaper builds out there.

Depends which ones you've already done. Omega is your first priority, since it's useful in most instances. Then for you, i'd say Romulan for access to Elite Scorpion fighters for your Scimitar build. Nukara is less important, unless you spend a lot of time on Nukara. Dyson is good but due to the changes being made in S9, you won't benefit from it in time.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

1. there is fleet spires now that have fleet tactical consoles. that would pretty much be the only thing that's changed in 7 months that you may wish to work on
2. just cruiser commands they are built in to cruisers
3. oddy is still a good ship so that's down to individual choice and play style
4. it's still a popular choice with many but there is the ar'kif a heavy escort carrier might be worth looking at to see if it may suit you.

Not far, you've arrived just prior to the power creep nerfbat.

My last post perhaps, but I was away from the game... Only played the Sphere of Influence and the Crytal Entity back then, you know what I mean.
So, as far I read, Season 9 will nerf every class in the game.
I always stood up for balancing, but this changes seems to be drived by crying out FED players that feel underpowered compared to Romulans and KDF.
