Race-Specific Critter Loot Drops

eristhevortaeristhevorta Member Posts: 1,049 Bug Hunter
I'd like to see the various critters dropping their specific gear as loot, for example:

KLG/ORI/NAU/GRN: Photon Projectiles, Disruptor Energy Weapons, Matching Consoles (Disruptor Induction Coil, Photon Detonation Assembly)
ROM/REM: Plasma Projectiles, Disruptor OR Plasma Energy Weapons (or even hybrids of common up to very rare quality and level-specific MK), Matching Consoles (Plasma Infuser, Ambiplasma Envelope)
Breen: Transphasic Projectiles, Polaron Energy Weapons, etc.
Hirogen: Transphasic Projectiles, Tetryon Energy Weapons, etc.
Cardassians: Photon Projectiles, Phaser OR Disruptor Energy Weapons (or even spiralwaves of common up to very rare quality and level-specific MK)
Jem'Hadar: Quantum Projectiles, Polaron Energy Weapons, etc.
Borg: Plasma Projectiles, Plasma OR Antiproton Energy Weapons (of all kinds in all rarities)
Undine: Plasma Projectiles, Antiproton Energy Weapons (see Borg)
(Mirror) Federation: Photon OR Quantum Projectiles, Phaser Energy Weapons
Voth: Chroniton Projectiles, Antiproton Energy Weapons (see Borg)
Tholians: Chroniton OR Tricobalt Projectiles, Tetryon Energy Weapons
Fekihri: Chroniton OR Tricobalt Projectiles, Antiproton Energy Weapons (see Borg)

More to come later, have to wurk. :D

I've always wanted to see them drop race-specific, or at least storyline/event-specific, lockboxes. For one example, Voth lockboxes made sense to drop in the Dyson sphere in S8 (insofar as loot drops make any sense at all, of course). Hirogen or any other flavor of lockbox, not so much.

Cryptic could still drop flavor-of-the-month lockboxes in any new content released during a season, then switch them over to race-specific lockboxes and other gear as appropriate in the following season. Lockboxes that don't have any corresponding race-specific content, such as Ferengi or Temporal lockboxes, could drop in the Borg STFs and missions involving fighting Feds or KDF, or any other race/faction that doesn't have a lockbox, or even during PvP matches. Once the Undine get their own battlezone in S9, they could drop Voth gear/lockboxes in the Allied and Contested zones and the ground Battlezone, and Undine gear/lockboxes in the new Undine Battlezone.

Then again if Cryptic did that sort of thing, The 2800 would probably become the most popular content in the game as people start grinding for Dominion lockboxes, of all things, trying to score a bug ship.

The game does something kinda like this already. Just try finding MK1 Antiproton weapons on exchange. :P

    The bug ship doesn't drop from Dominion lockboxes, the Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier does;

the real reason to open Dominion lockboxes for me is two fold, lobi crystals...and rich dilithium claims.

Ah, but how many players realize this? Most casual players probably just assume that if it's a Dominion ship, it must drop from Dominion lockboxes. So, they'll still grind away on The 2800 missions trying, albeit in vain, to get one.

Don't rich dil claims now drop from all the newer lockboxes? I've gotten plenty of claims from other lockbox flavors.

    Ground Critters:

KDF: Disruptor Weapons, Klingon Gagh, Grapok Sauce, etc.
ROM/REM: Plasma Weapons, Disruptor Weapons, Romulan Ale, Romulan Kali-fal, etc.
Cardassians: Phaser Weapons, Cardassian Kanar, etc.
Jem'Hadar / Founders: Polaron Weapons, Vorta Rippleberry, Vorta Q'Lava, Defeated Changeling etc.
    Fekihri: Antiproton Weapons
    Undine: Antiproton Weapons
    Tholians: Tetryon Weapons
    Hirogen: Tetryon Weapons
Borg: Plasma Weapons, Anti-Borg Consumables, Fractal Remodulator (Very Rare, Only In STF's)
    Voth: Antiproton Weapons
Breen: Polaron Weapons, Cryo Tribble (Very Rare)
Federation (Mirror): Phaser Weapons, Fed Food / Drinks, etc.

All races can drop shield charges, hypos, cells (ground) and batteries (space) etc. In space, Contraband should become an uncommon random drop as well, such as Gamma Commodities (Rare) from Cardassian and Dominion and Breen critters and very rare food and drinks (such as Rotgut) from specific ground critters / bosses (only one a piece).

And finally, PLEASE make the common commodity "Industrial Replicators" droppable by any critters, so we don't have to grind them from duff assignments or buy them from the vendors (overpriced).

PS: As for MK II Antiproton gear ... why not? *lol* It's just another energy type like Phaser or Disruptor which is by the way still a very liked energy type in high end game.

Cardassians: Photon Projectiles, Phaser OR Disruptor Energy Weapons (or even spiralwaves of common up to very rare quality and level-specific MK)

Things like this are highly unlikely. Spiral Waves are unique to the Galor, so even releasing common, uncommon and rare versions that don't require the ownership of a Galor ultimately cheapens their semi-uniqueness.

In addition, I expect that any further Cardassian-specific ships and weapons will be held back in the event that Cryptic decides to go forward with a fourth faction (and/or a Cardassian Reputation) and use the Cardassians as the basis. In that event, Spiral Wave weapons will probably be a Cardassian exclusive weapon, not unlike the Plasma Weapons available from the New Romulus Command.
    Fekihri: Antiproton Weapons
    Undine: Antiproton Weapons

Fek'ihri ground forces do not use "weapons" in the same sense that we do. Nor, technically, do the Undine. However, I believe that Undine Antiproton weapons (space and ground) will feature in the S9 Undine Lockbox.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

Yes, but the Dominion box appears to drop them at a higher rate.
