Unique Combo Abilities

Just an idea.
How about allowing players to combine the abilities and traits of the character and Bridge officers to create unique abilities. Sort of like Shan 6, Its a Good Day to Die, or the abilities that Tovak has
in A Step Between Stars.
This would create some unique abilities that would be really cool to have. Like allow a Tactical Officer to combine Cannon Rapid Fire and Torpedo Spread together, or and Engineer to combine EPS Power Transfer and Miracle Worker. Or the player character be able to combine any of the skills that they are able to train a Bridge Officer in. This would be some very cool abilities to have, but of course they would have to be limited to maybe. Say only two skills can be combine and each player and Bridge officer can only have two unique abilities each.

probably not going to happen.... their abilities were rather strong. unless each ability takes a hit when combining them, and you can only combine tier 1's together. (IE, CRF 1 with BO 1.) then i'd say it would be too overpowered.

Even combining Level 1 Abilities will produce 'overpowered' combinations.
Imagine a ship with the usual LT Tac + EN Tac. Now, as EN Tac, we take a combined ability made up from Tactical Team 1 and Beam:Fire at Will 1. Both last 10 Seconds. We double this up in the second EN Tac slot.
Now, since the 'Internal Shared Systems' Effect would still be valid, the system would hopefully not allow combining 2 Skills that put each other on a shared Cooldown. So for the LT Slot, we would now have Attack Pattern: Beta 1, and since only Level 1 abilities would be combineable, we could link THAT with, for example, Torpedo Spread 1, or Dispersal Pattern Beta 1 (which would, on a 'Fire and Forget' ship, probably work better, since one would dump a net of mines, which would then seek out targets on their own, perfect for 'Park them in the Middle' FaW boats).
You just turned a 3 Tac ability ship into a 6 Ability ship, and removed any need to make choices, and it would remove the need for Aux2Bat1+3 TechDoff humping. In fact, one could bring an even bigger palette of skills, if one would run Aux2Bat.

The ability could only be used once like it is with the unique abilities that Tovak, Worf and the Romulan Character that report "This ship can take it" in the Step Between Stars. Now you could have a Unique ability for reach of your Bridge Officers, but that ability will only function if they are assigned as a active station. So this means that a unique ability could not be "double" up.
I do like the fact of the abilities would have to have the same cooldown. This would go and create a limitation to what abilities could be combined, or that if abilities with different cooldown times is used, the ability with the longest cooldown period is chosen.
I do think that allowing this would create and bring some unique dimension to the game.

I can see the "Shron 6" like abilites becoming a variant of the "First officer" concept they were considering at some point... For all we know, this was a test of how it might work.

But I don't see us as players being allowed to make them ourselves.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

This. It could be interesting down the line, but would require a huge overhaul to how powers work. I don't see it happening soon.
