Blog #5 for Season 9 has Cryptic fooling with reputation powers...this is more annoying than weapon nerfs as no one is complaining about the damn rep powers after they have invested the time to get t them.
I seriously don't get why they waste so much time "fixing' things that aren't broke but ignore every broke thing in this game. This pretty much confirms that the crafting system will be ignored for another season, and I expect the Klingon faction will still remain a poor mirror of the Federation. They are too busy fixing things like Mirror missions, Tour around the Galaxy, and reputation powers to actually address issues that pretty much EVERYONE realizes is broke in this game.
I would be shocked if they even made Elite modes play like Elite; there goes Borg getting upgrades this season. I will be glad when Cryptic loses this license, for if you can't handle the Star Trek Universe, give it to someone else.
They only fix things that don't make money. "Broken," in their minds, means "non-profitable." Think of PWE as Brunt -- they're the IRS guys from hell.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
There's no money in fixing old stuff. I guess there's money in breaking fixed stuff? I'm stating to question Cryptic's logic... It's like they're playing a different STO. I dunno to be honest. A lot of strange changes lately. Change isn't always good. " but, but change."
You know what , TRIBBLE it. We're turning phasers green and disruptors orange. Deal with it...
I'm losing faith...
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.

They proactively halted passive power creep before they implemented a fifth reputation and exacerbated the power creep issue.
This is them being proactive.
Not really sure why this is such a complaint, when all I see are threads complaining about power creep.
This is the solution to power creep.
Nerfs.
It's like you all forgot you were playing an MMO.
Put on your big girl epics and deal with it people.
Im really surprised you guys are so surprised. Its nothing new. It started around S4 and they will keep doing so.
In fact its a world wide thing right now, look at something totally random like iOS6 vs iOS7, a totally unnecessary UI change, uglified flat look and icons, look at Windows 7 vs 8, etc.
Look at this totally ***** forum, it stills pains my eyes and it was totally unnecessary. Just waste of time.
Seriously, I see threads demanding nerfs...now they brought the big bat out, and you guys are freaking out....we all knew this was coming for a long time before they realized created WAAAAAY to many rep passives to the point my Captain became a Q.
Dont change stuff just give us NEW stuff
difference between a fresh max-level character and one whod spent hundreds of hours at endgame would just be too large

Have to agree with this. It would have eventually gotten to the point where fully repped level 50s would be able to completely solo STFs and other 5 man content events with ease and be bored out of their minds because the content has to be completable by fresh level 50s. So when you can easily do 100k dps because you maxed everything out while others are doing just 2k dps, then there is something terribly wrong with the game. The only problem is that this change occurred now and not with the Nukara Reputation. So the nerf will be far more noticeable.
Although, playing an Uber character is fun in a controlled setting. In City of Heroes, there was a mission where you played as a future version of your character where they are pretty much omnipotent and easily defeat some of the most powerful beings in the game.
Cryptic doesn't play the same STO we do. In the STO I play, PvP is so horrendously broken by Aux2Bat cruisers that it isn't worth playing. In the STO I play, story content comes out at such a trickle pace that the only thing left to do in the game is grind reps. Well, they just removed the reason to grind reps... and removed the reason why I was grinding STFs in the first place.

I've read the blog and i gotta say I like the sound of it the powers are getting upgraded and you can switch 4 ground and 4 space, essentially the passives are more flexible honestly its like our duty officers pick what you want/need also nobody has to be worried about picking the wrong abilities. Lastly it takes care of the power creep everyone's been whining about, and the work you put into earning the abilities through reputation isn't lost or meaningless you still need to reach the tiers in the reputation to be able to use each tier ability unless i read that wrong
FYI This is coming from someone who "worked their TRIBBLE off for all the abilities"

But this may be a good thing. May force them to create more missions and story driven content. I am so tired of the grind.
Yeah, but you're a hardcore gamer. Me? I'm "casual."
I like it casual.
.....did I just say that?

But seriously, I really want to start a new character in each faction, to find bugs.
Not to bash the game, but if polishing up social zone graphics to draw new customers is a priority.
It isn't going to mean squat if the entry level content is broken.
It's been stated that story content isn't really the money maker in this game. They think repeatable content or "grind" as we are all calling it is worth people spending their money for.
What they need to realize is we don't want to have the grind. We want something worthwhile that will keep us satisfied between now and the next big expansion.

I plan to create a new Fed, and Rom character as well, just to see if that holds equally for all.
Be shameful to have a pretty new spacedock, when new players can't play the starting content.
difference between a fresh max-level character and one whod spent hundreds of hours at endgame would just be too large
thought that was the reason i play so much
Thanx, mate.

You were grinding the reps for the passives?
I was grinding them for the gear unlocks.
