Good Tactical Set...?

adorenkoadorenko Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Ok so have a Romulan Tactical character Fed side flying a Scimitar, currently I have MK XI Jem'Hadar set. Is there a better set I should be running until I reach tier 5 reps and also what tier 5 set is best for tactical(when I get there that is), based on pure numbers or fun factor?

Thanks

the Solonae set is the best mission reward set.

not sure about best rep set, though many say the Borg 2-piece (engine +deflector) are VERY good.

It depends strongly on what you're flying, and your loadout.

For example if you're using Polaron weapons, nothing will beat 2 pieces of the Mk XII Jem'Hadar set due to the bonuses.

I personally feel the Borg set is good for a Scimitar. The ship is tough enough that it can take the low shields, and the recovery abilities of the set helps balance the BOff station. The tractor beam is also handy for keeping things in your firing arc.

I actually am using Polaron currently for that set bonus.

Most days, it feels like I'm the only person that uses the Jem'Hadar's anti-proton sweep as a shield busting ability.

I would wait for this decision, there will be changes to the rep sets next month, all of the old standards will go out the window.
New home of the Romulan Republic.
I have an idea for what Season 11 should be; Season 11: The Big Bug Fix.
I have not been able to read my bug tickets in over a year, not even the tickets about not being able to see my tickets.
I find the drama of your signature proof of your immaturity, this means you, DR whiners.

I guess I will grab the solanae set for now and compare it to Jem'Hadar set. It still drives me nuts trying to find a decent singularity core though, without spending all my EC at the exchange. There is a mission that offers a warp core with an anti-proton beam set bonus but no singularity core, that's kind of sh&%!#. Oh well.

Best set in game: Assimilated Mk XII Deflector and Subtranswarp engines with Fleet warp core with [AMP] and the fleet Shield: Elite Fleet Resiliant Shield [ResB] [Adapt] [Cap]X2

Upon the advent of S9, the assimilated set will be nerfec, and then the Undine set will take centre stage.

Does anyone know if M.A.C.O set is getting nerfed, I will probably be putting that on my engineer?

there is ONE single change to any of the rep sets other than how you get the rep and costs for the sets, so hardly going to alter all the old standards.

I do not believe it'll be nerfed. The dev blogs talked about the assimilated set, and not the M.A.C.O. Even if it is nerfed, it'll probably still be good.

Are you in a fleet? If you are and have enough fleet credits an provisions ( for the spire ect ), you can use NOP channel to get top end fleet gear, also what is your @ handle cause I can send you a singularity core if you want( its my ec so dont worry ).

Weird, i thought the reward of that mission was a hq BOFF.

Anyways, since that mission is bugged, who cares lol.

Yes. Our fleet is just about to hit tier 3. The Solanae stuff is a quick pickup for me. Thanks for the Sing core offer but I'll get one eventually. I have an ok one anyway MK XI Blue I was just wondering why they were handing out warp cores like candy but no love to the sing cores.

Just looking for advice on the direction to take thats all. I think trying to have the best gear is a goal of all of us playing STO, in most cases not the most important goal but one that exists all the same. I'd say it would be worse to put effort toward a set that turns out to be a lemon though. My biggest problem with my Scimitar right now is actually its survive-ability. I think I might need to drop some of the special consoles that came with the bundle pack. The shields up while cloaked has to stay though. The secondary shields are pretty cool though. I just noticed during a mirror event that if you pop your secondary shields just before you go to close a rift or initiate a power transfer and you are fired upon it doesn't affect this action.

keep the singularity distributor unit and secondary shields. cloaked barrage seems ok for avoiding being targeted, but you lose the ambush bonus which is what you really want. Secondary shields are a good "OH TRIBBLE" panic button and a solid defense against vape. 17k hit points from any direction... ;)

The Borg set 2pc is not really getting nerfed its getting a bug fix.

Basically if your ship has 30k hull or more you'll see a decrease in healing the proc.
For many science ships and escorts you'll actually see an increase in healing.

The proc was (not intended) based on hull modifier so cruisers were getting a far larger heal out of it, and sci ships/escorts were getting shafted. This is simply being fixed.
